The first time I experienced the Antojos meal, they were still located in the San Juan area on Gen. de Jesus Street. Now located on the 3rd floor of the Banawe Center, their food is much closer to my girlfriend and I, and we can enjoy much more of their modern twist on Filipino favorites. To date, I think they have been the only restaurant I know that has their menu programmed into a tablet; it took a while to get used to navigating it, but it was a good use of the technology we have available. My girlfriend and I went here with a few friends, and we started off with the Jalapeño Crunch, which is basically a jalapeño cheese ball coated with bread crumbs and deep fried until golden brown. Then our mains included Adobong Kangkong with Bagnet, Cheesy Beef Kaldereta, Crispy Pata and Antojos Chicken BBQ. We also order the Inasal rice for sharing. All of the food was exceptional! I really enjoyed the combination of inasal rice with the kaldereta and the crispy pata. The chicken BBQ really tasted really good, maybe a little better than the others served out there.
I hope the reason why Antojos moved was to get more exposure, since its old location in San Juan was pretty tough to access, although they were quite well-known among my bosses and suppliers. Hopefully now, they'll get recognition for their own take on Filipino food. read more
