The stock varies from biographies and historical artifacts (mainly right wing paraphernalia- a Daily Mail series on the modern monarchy, an enormous hardback on the Third Reich and a Thatcher biography) Amongst all the military-themed bits of tat, there are actually some very good finds- there were some cool old 1950s Christmas cards, some 1960s newspapers in excellent condition and some beautiful vintage postcards. Church Rd has suffered since a a multi millionaire Nigerian church has purchased the local cinema with designs on making it a a bankrolling jesus cash in centre dispite being denied planning by the Council. But the residents of the the longest side of the Triangle of Upper Norwood are standing firm against this insult to the local community and not letting the rot set in. The people of SE19 have led this initiative in a creative and very cool way. Seeing it now and comparing it to the row of empty shops photographed on google maps, its amazing how much its changed in a year. Talking to local stall holders plans for buskers and more food stalls are afoot and people interested should pop down and chat.

It is like a whole new world of the past when you walk through the narrow doorway. A word of advice, do not take small children in there as they do not like people picking up their goods as most of it is antiques. They've got something for everyone in there, even if you do not like antiques. I saw a bunch of comics from my youth, a few action figures, tonnes of clothes, books and memorabilia scattered all over the place. The Haynes Market is a maze but a fun one. There is stairs from the first floor to the ground floor where you will discover a few more stalls to browse from. I finally went inside and wasn't disappointed there is so much to choose from the staff are very friendly and I brought quite a few coins and stamps as these are the things I collect and am interested in.
