Our waitress recommended a very nice rioja, the wine of the region. That was superb too! We're not normally dessert eaters, but we wanted to extend this lovely experience so we ordered the waitress' suggestion of a chocolate dessert with cafe con leche.

The bao was the only one I didn't really like mostly the bun part. It didn't taste like it was cooked all the way and was a bit gummy and there was not a lot of meat filling. Next was the lamb which was really tender and flavorful. The couscous was ok nothing special and not much seasoning to it. Then the beef cheek and mashed potatoes came out which was the star of the pintxos that we had. It was also very tender and the mash was also cooked perfectly. All of this was shared between the two of us and was very filling. The waiter let us know that some of the pinxtos could also be ordered in a full size if we wanted. We enjoyed sampling the pinxtos and would definitely recommend coming here to get a taste of local cuisine.

The must-order dish is the monkfish, which was beautifully prepared and quite good! The service was phenomenal from start to finish. Overall, Elkano is well worth the trek. Getaria itself is an incredibly charming town with stunning scenery, making the entire experience feel special beyond just the meal.

The wine list is long - the sommelier unfortunately wasn't there (on a Saturday night?), so we ended up having to choose without guidance which was unfortunate. The service was very lovely, although they did seem to be understaffed which led to issues later on in the meal...will get to those. For the food, we opted for the tasting menu with a supplement from the a la carte. Perfect amount of food, maybe a touch more than we needed and we didn't stay for dessert. The preparations are so simple, you get to experience the purity of the fresh caught ingredients. I loved learning about everything we were eating as we progressed. The turbot really is special, but other standouts were tuna dishes, lobster, grilled squid, red mullet - ok basically all of it. We were looking forward to dessert as we'd heard so much about it, but service really slowed up during the savory courses (understandably, as they spent so much time preparing the turbot at the table). We were seated in the back of the restaurant in the upstairs area, and it was very very warm to the point where myself and other diners were fanning ourselves with the menus. We ran out of water which didn't help. After an extended period of time without water, we just asked for the desserts to go (which they couldn't accommodate as they both had ice cream), but they didn't charge us for everything on the bill so we were ok with it. Even with this unfortunate ending to our meal, we left very full and happy, and look forward to returning (and requesting to sit somewhere where they have air circulation).

The Crujiente de Kisquilla con Sorbete de Salpicón is one of the most sophisticated gastronomic creations I ever had. The flor de alcachofa, the gilda macaron and the Baresarian lamb are equally mind blowing. This is beyond food! 2. The service is impecable. Both serious and rigorous, and warm and close. The entire team helps and show their enthusiasm about what they serve. 3. The space is very beautiful. An exceptional spot in Igueldo with helicopter views onto the Donisti bay. The design is quite contemporary, but not the strongest. By a not great office named Mecanismo. The interiors are quite predictable. Most spaces enjoy a privileged view on the sea, but still is good. The light can be dazzling. The exteriors: are quite a cliche. Architecture could be way better here.

Their chanterelle mushrooms with egg yolk was delicious, as well as their asparagus with cheese sauce. I don't know how they got the asparagus to taste so good and sweet, we had to order another one.
