We hosted our daughter's Sweet 16 at the Antigua Event Center in February, and while there were some great moments, there were also some significant disappointments. The Good: The initial consultation with Gustavo was pleasant--he was informative and accommodating. His wife, Elvira, did an excellent job as the party planner and decorator. She helped my daughter set up a timeline, choose decorations, and provided sample tables for a visual reference. On the day of the event, the venue looked stunning with beautiful table setups, fine china, and ample space for our guests. The in-house chef (formerly from Mallard's in Modesto) was fantastic, and they kindly let us take home all the leftover food. Additionally, although we had opted out of the light-up dance floor for budget reasons, it was still in place due to a family emergency on their end, and they graciously allowed us to use it at no extra charge. This unexpected inclusion added a fun and lively touch to the event. The Bad: The DJ setup became a major issue. Neither we nor the DJ were informed ahead of time that she would not be able to set up in front of the projector. When we first toured the venue, we asked how the DJ setup would work, and Gustavo informed us that the typical DJ placement was in front of the dance floor. Despite this, on the day of the event, the owner told our DJ she couldn't set up in that spot. Instead, she was able to set up tucked away off to the side, connected to the owner's sound system, and was not allowed to use her own speakers. The owner then offered her a side deal, charging her $100 to hook up to his equipment. This unprofessional exchange set a frustrating tone. What really stood out as tacky was how the owners walked in potential clients--twice--during our event. Before guests arrived, Gustavo brought a family in, cranked up the Bluetooth sound system to demonstrate, and used our event as a live advertisement. Later, another couple was brought in through the back door for a consultation in the owner's office while our party was in full swing. These interruptions were incredibly inconsiderate. The Ugly: Despite paying for fine china, when it came time to eat, guests were given paper plates to use, supposedly for easier cleanup. No announcement was made when food was ready, and it was self-serve, which felt disorganized. Cake assistance, which was part of the agreement, was completely overlooked until we had to bring it up at the end of the event. At one point, my daughter had a question that required the owner's attention, and I had to go on a hunt to find one of the owners. They were nowhere to be found, and I eventually had to knock on Gustavo's office door, where he was conducting a consultation with another customer during our event. It was clear that the priority had shifted to securing future clients rather than focusing on us, the paying customer of the day. Conclusion: The Antigua Event Center is a beautiful venue, and Gustavo and Elvira were incredibly helpful during the planning process. They worked hard to make the event special and took care of setup and takedown, which significantly lightened our load. However, we wish their focus had remained solely on our event during the day itself, ensuring everything went smoothly and all agreed-upon services were provided without distraction. Their dedication to making events memorable is evident, but prioritizing the customer's experience fully would elevate the service to the level their venue and efforts deserve. read more

We had my dads celebration of life at Antigua Event Center a few days ago! First, the owners of the venue are truly amazing! They are so kind and passionate about what they do, it felt like we were all family. They always answered my questions anytime I called, they let me come in and test equipment multiple times to make sure the music playlist and slide show worked before our event. They also let us show up early since we were expecting about 200-275 people for the event. Everything went on according to plan. We got SO many compliments on the Celebration of Life from those who attended, I cannot take much credit for that. Antigua took my vision and ran with it in the best way, they worked hard, never complained, always open to any feedback or our requests. Seriously, this place is beautiful and amazing and the owners make the experience THAT much better. Wish I could back and hug them and say thank you again. read more

If anybody would attend this, you make sure you pay attention to the contract. You don't always get the second sit down. That is in your contract that you paid for. And they will also make you feel bad For Requesting no food tasting or Or set up appointments to visit the avenue during your event!! Since I requested that they had called a client that I know and let them know that the bride does not want them there to do food tasting. And also lie about the whole thing!! And I also had a dessert That was missing Cupcakes that I specially had requested.That never got put out that they lied about the whole thing. And they covered it up by saying that we have more than enough desserts on the table. Everybody in my event felt very disrespected and it felt like they were very rude. And if you get chips Salsa on your table don't expect to get any refills Never got told that they only get one basket per table. My poor family had to help out to make sure that we're staying on our timeline. That they requested us to have. Not only that , we end up using this room and it was very hot in there and seen a cocker roache on the floor.. When it came to the decorations. I requested no white in any of my center pieces. But when I. Did my rehearsal I noticed the center pieces were not exactly what I had showed her and we talked about as she put down in her notes. But yet she had made a comment saying I've gone more than above beyond to make you happy.. Making it seem like I am asking too much for her to fix the center pieces.. When you get the dinner with tortillas. There will be cold and they will also be broken.. And when it comes to the bar they weren't fully truthful about what type of alcohol that we had to be served they only give them a few options even though we had multiple options to give. And if you have DJ that is not coming from the Ven new itself, they would make them stay in the corner.. Even though we requested him to be put in the middle after the breakdown of the ceremony they said that was more than okay to do so. The reasoning behind it was because he was gonna get in the way of dinner service.But yet when you go on their website you're able to see that they have the d j always in the middle. Instead of my fiance eating his dinner he had to help move the equipment and help the dj move to the middle. Very. We celebrated my husband's 40th. From start to finish they took care of everything. I had no stress. I only had to walk in and entertain our guests. Decorates we're above and beyond my expectations. We hosted our wedding at Antigua Event Center on 11/2/19. Gonzalo and Elvira (the owners and head coordinators) were amazing! Gonzalo kept us up to date with all event details( scheduling of food tasting, meetings, day of timeline, etc)and Elvira was the woman behind all the beautiful decor! She made my vision of rose gold, burgundy romantic colors come to life! She was also amazing at bringing her great ideas and incorporating them to make my vision come to life! Our wedding day ran pretty smoothly. The only things I can say that didn't go as planned but weren't MAJOR things were: 1) Champagne wasn't passed out before speeches (speeches were delayed but not too big of a deal 2) Cake wasn't passed out after we cut it. I had to tell a server about 45 min later when I noticed cake wasn't passed out yet 3) Someone was supposed to be in charge of refilling our favors table to make sure table was full at all times in order for our guest to pick up their favor (engraved shot glasses)- the table wasn't refilled thought out the night and we were left with A LOT OF custom shot glasses Again, they weren't major things that didn't go as planned but every wedding day will have SOMEhiccups. Our guests really enjoyed the hospitality, the availability of staff and the attention to detail. Guests also loved the food that we choose at the food tasting hosted a few months before the wedding. I was even able to customize my menu! We were allowed to take outside decorations the day before and pickup the following week after the wedding! Antigua event center made planning my wedding so much easier! This was really a horrible place. It is too small for 50 people much less 75. People were shoved on corners, doorways, places they could not fit. The tables had filthy dusty anchent flowers on the table. a 2 stall bathroom. The food was discusting, really really bad, so was the service. More like a funeral than a cheerfull place. I just had my wedding here on October 17th and i'm super glad i chose this venue. The food was unbelievable and delicious (chicken & tri-tip). All of the guess wanted seconds. Not only that but the decorations were spot on and Herman was super flexible with moving things around. I can't thank Herman and his crew enough. They pretty much took care of almost everything for the reception and took a large amount of stress off my back! The location of the center was great as well. Lots of parking and no cars driving by or loud noises from major road ways. Plus, with John Meyers Park just a few blocks away, we didn't have to go to far for our family photos. If you're looking for a venue for your special day, i highly recommend you taking the time to drop by this location and give it a shot. I was here for my best friend's wedding. I was impressed at first. The place is nice. But.... toward the end of the night, there were some friends/family of the staff hanging around in the bar area drinking an $80 bottle of alcohol my friends bought for the wedding. They also hijacked the aux. cord that was playing my friend's wedding playlist and started playing their own music. Needless to say my friend (the bride) was very upset. When she told the owners/managers they only offered a bottle of wine in return. My friend doesnt drink wine. After a great wedding, my friend left pretty ticked off at the end of the night. On the bad side there wasn't enough food to serve everyone we paid for so make sure to express to them to make enough food, but the owner did apologize expressed it had never happened again and offered a cash refund for the inconvenience. Antigua event center is a beautiful venue however they are quick to book you and take your money. I canceled my event 7 months in advance and it was on a Saturday. He booked it right away( I know because I would call and be discreet about it) he refused to give me any of my 1000$ deposit back even though that is part of the agreement. If we cancel and he books we get our deposit. After me bugging and bugging he finally gave me 200$ then I keep bugging because that is not right at all, he tells me the date is still open even though he's told me plenty of times when I called (discreetly looking for a venue same day) that it is clearly booked! I won't ever recommend this venue for the simple fact that they mean nothing they say about refunds. Get everything down in writing. I lost 800$ for my deposit when he took Someone else's deposit quick! Update: I got a call from the owner stating he seen my post and wanted me to take it off. I find it funny because all the messages I left for him to return my calls I never got anything, if I would have knows all I had to do was tell my story on yelp then I would have done so a long time ago. I refused of course. He told me the date is still not booked. He said "it was booked then wasn't then was then wasn't" his exact words. Staff was friendly and very nice. Unfortunately the hall was not ready for our 3pm event. We went there every day leading up to the event and discussing with the lady everything that was wanted and needed to be done. The decors that she remembered were beautiful. The dinner got put out with the appetizers and nothing was done about it. During dinner time, the dinner plates were taken away and every guest had to ask. Bartenders told guests that the drinks were finished when there were extra drinks in the back. Just overall lack of communication with the staff. Champagne toast was a fail, staff forgot to go around during speeches and the coordinator was in the back and we couldn't find them to make things right. The Ac wasn't on and during the whole event it was super hot. It was not a great experience. I would not recommend if you want your important day to be a disaster. read more

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! My wife and I planned our wedding ceremony and reception here on a Friday in February. When we booked we decided to take advantage of the fact that they provide a lot of services in house so we wouldn't have to worry about finding DJ or catering services. The owner of the establishment assured us that their staff, DJ, and catering company have many years of experience in wedding services. When we booked we were offered a tasting of the food that the caterer provides, and that we could see as many of the décor arrangements as we wanted. My wife was able to see most of the arrangements but when we finally got to go to our tasting of the caterers food there were more table settings that she wasn't shown that she liked not a big deal but kind of frustrating seeing as though the tasting was a month before our wedding. We decided to book the DJ through the hall to save a little money and with the expectation that working with the venue for a long time he would be more suited for the wedding. We were told that the DJ would provide the microphone for the whole thing and manage the music. We wanted to meet with the DJ in advance of the wedding to go over some expectations and do's and don'ts as far as music. The owner introduced us to a young man who at the time was helping with maintenance of the hall. The younger gentleman asked us to give him a list of songs and that we would be meeting before the wedding to go through the ceremony and the timeline for the rest of the night. We asked every couple weeks from December leading up to the wedding to see when we could meet with the DJ, finally we were told that during rehearsal we would meet with the and have a chance to go over the event. At the rehearsal there was no DJ, so we were on our own to figure out our ceremony even though we had been told that we would have help with this. My wife was concerned that the DJ would be playing songs off a phone the owner assured us that would not happen well it did. At our ceremony we were informed the DJ the normally use had to take an emergency vacation, the fill in had never been used by them before. We had to practically yell our entire ceremony and speeches because the DJ didn't have a microphone. We had to manage the time on our own because the DJ wasn't doing that. a commercial played during our first dance, then it took the DJ 15 minutes with my wife and her Dad standing in the middle of the dance floor to find the song she asked for weeks in advance on YouTube on his phone. The dinner service was slow, we were running about 15 minutes late already (its a wedding they are usually running behind) we were expecting 150 people which 110 showed up. The venue booked 2 servers for a seated dinner that with the fact that we were running late it took a long time to get everyone served and some of the food came out cold. The owners were helping to try to get the food out faster, but ultimately it wasn't enough. We cut our cake it was served but we had to tell the kids that they could help themselves to cupcakes since we had a small cake but plenty of cupcakes. My wife and I also caught the owner bringing prospective clients through our wedding while we were starting our reception, then again when we were leaving. We were promised help throughout our event but were left to try to orchestrate most everything on our own. In the end we were left embarrassed by a DJ the venue hired at the last minute but had never been used by them before (we don't think he was an actual DJ but someone that said the could help them out since he had no equipment), we had strangers walking through our wedding, and my wife was in tears and not in the way you want. I highly doubt that the people running the Antigua event center have been doing weddings as long as they claim. on a good note the bartender was spectacular and the tables were arranged very nice minus the bide and groom table because it wasn't done how my wife asked for at all! read more

We had our wedding here a couple months ago and everything was perfect. The owner German was really accommodating and worked with us to make sure everything was perfect on our big day. The staff was great and very nice with us as well as our guests. We did not have to worry about a thing. The food was really good and all our guests enjoyed the food. The day after all we did was come back and pick up the things we left and Teresa was great with having everything ready for us. I would recommend Antigua to anyone who is wanting a place that is clean, all inclusive and working with a great staff that helps everything run smoothly.
