We live out of state and needed work done at our house in Columbia. The work consisted of cleaning out the gutters, fixing a ceiling fan, fixing windows, and installing a new exhaust fan. STOLE MY MONEY AND NEVER CAME BACK!!!! (Heard from several people on yelp, after the fact sadly, that said the same thing happened to them. Don't walk, RUN!!!) I reached out to Mr. Walters through Yelp, as we needed significant repair to our basement due to a break in the main water line to the house. He started out strong, with doing two very minor repairs, which I thought was indicative of a person who would approach the bigger project with professionalism and skill. That could not have been further from the truth. For a $6135.53 job (insurance plus my $2500 deductible), Mr. Walters asked to break the payments into three, at the start of the job, assuring me that he wouldn't need the second or third payments until the end of the job. Then he slowly asked for the remaining two payments over the course of a week. My husband and I voiced concern about giving him all of the money before the job and he assured me that he was responsible and he would finish the work. As soon as he got that last check, he never showed up again - with excuse after excuse until finally, he just stopped returning our texts. Now my personal account it drained (because I had to pull that $2,500 out of our savings) and I have only a small portion of the work done. I have priced out the cost to finish the job, and it is $3,000, which of course, I don't have. My husband and I hoped maybe his phone was no longer working, and looked him up on casenet (long list of trouble with the law, dating back decades), and thought we would try to meet him at court, to work things out. After telling us that we were the problem (I am assuming because we expected professionalism), he said he would come by the following Monday and return our money). Never happened. Again. I trusted this guy at his word. That was my first and biggest mistake. I highly recommend that anyone who might consider using this guy to reconsider - he defrauded us and I hear he has defrauded others too! read more

First job he did for me went well. He built a very nice deck for me. The only issue is he seemed to be working on my deck between other jobs, sometimes didn't show up for days and never before 1 or 2 in the afternoon. I was having trouble finding a handyman to come and give estimates on interior painting and retiling a shower, so I took a chance on Anthony again. He said he had more people working with him and his schedule wouldn't be a problem. It took him 10 days to do the interior painting he said would take 2-3 days because once again he wouldn't show up on days he said he was going to work and again never before 1 or 2 PM. I had previously given him money for materials for the shower tile job because while it had taken him longer than he said, he always had supplies delivered. After the painting job I told him he couldn't do what he had done on the deck or painting when it came to the master bath shower. It needed to be 2-3 consecutive and full days of work. April 26th he said he would start the tile the next day. He never showed. He "rescheduled" his start time 3 times. After the first I said I thought maybe he didn't have time for the job and I would like my money back for the supplies. He guaranteed me he would get it done. On May 26th he told me he would be there the next day. After that he stopped responding to messages and texts. He still has the money for supplies. My guess is he spent it and can't afford the materials for my shower. read more

Dishonest to the core. Was paid half up front in labor cost and gave him the amount quoted for materials in good faith. To my disappointment he took way longer than quoted to complete the job, and didn't purchase all of the materials. Instead he spent the money apparently on a laundry list of excuses, so the job couldn't be finished unless I paid him the amount in labor that was supposed to be paid upon completion of the job. I would not do that so I had to purchase them myself to ensure I wasn't being manipulated. I hoped the job would be completed despite the materials cost coming out of his final his final pay only a few hundred instead of the amount it would have been had he not taken the half labor up front and the materials cost and spent it all assumedly on himself. However, not to my surprise I never heard from him again, my calls went to voicemail, and finally I had to pay another contractor to finish what he barely started. He conned over 1,000 from me and if I was you I would find an honest carpenter, but if you do choose to trust this man, please buy your own materials don't give him the chance to do what he did to me to you. I would also watch my belongings people with morals like this have no problem stealing and taking advantage anything to get them ahead and serve their needs. What goes around comes around and he will get what he has put out I wouldn't want to be in his shoes when that time rolls around. read more
