Great place for a cut. Been going to Anthony for decades. Reasonably priced and easy parking

Amazing barber 25$ for a buzz fade and wash ! Highly recommend this place I always go to Anthony but the woman there does great cuts as well read more

I've been going to Anthony for Hair for the past 5 years. He usually cuts and highlights my hair and does an amazing job!

Just a great home town neighbor hood place. Anthony and Ivy are always like going to a friends place.

I've been going to Anthony for my hair in San Jose, and I couldn't be happier. He's professional, detail-oriented, and really listens to what you want. Every time I leave his chair, my hair looks amazing and feels even better. You can tell he truly cares about his craft and his clients. Highly recommend Anthony if you're looking for a reliable and talented stylist in the San Jose area! read more

Anthony is a friendly person and I'm glad I finally found a place I would travel accross town to get my hair cut. Never been treated better he really cares about what he does. I just wish I found him when I had all my hair and it was one color haha. Highly Reccommended! read more

If you're allergic to dog dander don't come here. They let their 4 dogs wander freely. Also, the owner and his clients on occasion drink beer. Not very professional in my opinion. Otherwise, they do a great job. For men's haircut it's $20 and for kids it's $17 which is expensive compared to other places in this neighborhood. read more

Best damn haircut I've had in years! I happened to be in town from Nashville TN and decided to stop by this unassuming spot for some hair repair. Don't pass up this diamond in the rough for an exceptional customer experience. Anthony and Ivy are super friendly to top it all off!! read more

Pretty good haircut place. Nice clean fade. $25 is manageable. You can tip $5-10 and it's fine. You're in and you're out. Everyone seems cool there read more

My family and I have been going to Anthony for hair, for 20 years or more. Great atmosphere especially on game days.

I don't understand all these fake good reviews. They can't possibly be real because I went there 1 (and last) time and took my son. First, the place is a nasty dirty mess with his pets walking all around. It felt more like a messy dirty home than a business. Then I guess the owner Anthony seemed drunk to me because he offered me hard liquor and I can smell it on his breath. Lastly he butchered my son's haircut (probably because he was drunk) so bad I just couldn't go through with my haircut. My poor son. JUST STAY AWAY I think he needs to close and take some time off to work on staying sober and get his life back on track. Just sayin.... read more

Used to be great. Will not be coming back this place is really going downhill past few years unfortunately. I don't think they even clean their clippers before usage anymore. Used to love it but last time I went it felt like they wanted the quickest turn around time and left some parts of my hair uneven. Had to finish the cut myself at home with scissors. Somehow it's always more expensive despite the quality getting worse and worse. Also it's quite messy inside and probably could use a visit by local health inspectors. Do not recommend. read more

My 5 year old grandson had his first "big boy" haircut with Anthony. As always, he never disappoints. Amazing job and my grandson is ready for school. Thank you for taking care of four generations of my family's haircuts. You're amazing!!! read more

Updated: My husband got his hair done by Anthony tonight and it has got to be the worst haircut he's even gotten there. He's pretty sure Anthony was drunk too which isn't surprising since it's become the hang out spot to drink for guys. It took him forever to get his hair done because he was busy talking to other people. I am still shocked at how bad his hair looks! Never again will anyone there cut his hair besides Jessica. She's the only saving grace of this place. My husband gets his hair done here. Loves how Jessica takes care of him from a great haircut, beard shave & even an eyebrow trim! Ivy butchered his hair and he had to go back to have Anthony fix it. I have issue with the drinking that happens there and the people who just hang out so I don't go. Just my opinion but it's unprofessional. Great pricing for the services my husband has done & he's happy with his cuts. Thank you Jessica! read more

For starters, I have tried each and every stylist there. Anthony is definitely the best among them all. What I like about him is not so much the cut, as I had different length sideburns and an uneven cut, its hair, it will grow back and I can let the shorter sideburn grow but I expected better, the good thing that I wish the other barbers would learn from him was the constant cleaning and spraying of disinfectant on the combs, scissors and trimmer. The cleanliness is the only thing making me come back. He is the cleanest of all the barbers around this area. read more

Never again. Now I know why she turned me to the side when she chopped the top of my hair! So I couldn't see her grab it all in one pull and make one cut. "You're done!" I was like huh? Uh, Ok. I want my money back. I have a Mohawk. She just pulled it back and made one cut. I asked to get the ends of my hair trimmed as I am growing it long. When it hangs to the side its ALL DIFFERENT LENGTHS AND LOOKS LIKE GIANT CHUNKS MISSING!!!! WTF! I WILL RETURN TOMORROW AND GET MY MONEY BACK! This place is awful! My usual stylist back in Santa Cruz is busy this week. When it hangs to the side after he cuts it my hair is even and symmetrical. I am so PISSED! read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars!!! I heard about this place because I work/live nearby but also because I used to get my nails done at Ivy's next door- review will be up shortly for them also. Warning- do not go there either! Prior to coming in, I called and spoke with Anthony, asked what time they closed and if he had time to do a kids hair cut that same day- his answer yes. My bf and I took our son within 10 minutes of my call. We were immediately approached by this older and EXTREMELY rude lady. She asked what we wanted, I told her a quick haircut for my son. Let me stop and give you a lil background... my bf and I had just tried to give my son a haircut and almost finished give him a nice little fade but he kept squirming and we gave up. We only needed someone to sit him down in a different environment as my son LOVES getting his hair cut at the barbershop (we would have gone to Krown Barber down the street but they are closed on Sundays). Anyhow, the lady told rudely told us that Anthony is very busy all the time and we should have called first. I told her we did. Then I was approached by Anthony who looked at my son and said, he needs a haircut? Did you guys do this?" I answered yes and explained what happened. His response, "Kids that age yeah they don't sit still, know I mean, you guys did just a good job like I could, know I mean. Kids that age hair don't go in same direction until they like 4 or 5, its thick and thin all over still. We busy today, maybe tomorrow." WOW. He could have offered to schedule an appointment for a latter date. Instead, we were shooed out. Guys, if you are looking for a barber go to Krown on the otherside of Cottle Rd near Orchard/Bills Cafe. Ladies, if you need a REAL stylist, see Jacob who used to be at Umbrella but I think he is now at Loft downtown. He is amazing and worth it!!! Anthony's is a joke and regret that I even wasted my gas to go down the street. read more

Was able to get in for a cut right away on the weekend which was maybe the only good thing about Anthony for hair. I told Jessica that I'd like a trim to get rid of all my split ends and that I had been working hard to grow my hair out to about 18" long. I told her I wanted long layers (consistent with my existing cut) and she said I shouldn't have them because my hair is so thin (something Ive never heard in my whole life from a stylist) She then proceeded to talk about her children, grandchildren, shove her iPhone in my lap and show me birth pictures of her grandchild while chopping off precious inches of my hair. She talked up her son who owns a tattoo parlor and then showed me a slide show of his work. She seemed unfocused and more interested in showing off her "brood" than giving me a hair cut. When it was time for the blow dry another stylist came over to "help" and I wanted to scream as the two of them practically set my scalp on fire blow drying my head from both sides..The other stylist just left the blow dryer 2" from my scalp in one spot and spaced out.. Who does that??? I had to wiggle and squirm to keep from blistering. If my hair isn't that thick why do you need help blow drying it?! When all was said and done I ended up loosing over 2" of hair (putting me back in that horrible "in between phase ladies you know what I'm talking about) and the layers are so choppy that it even looks bad in a pony tail with one long weird piece hanging down. She randomly chopped one piece of my side burn when she was layering the left side by my face and now it sticks out at a funny angle, all the other pieces around it are longer so I'm not sure what happened there. My only option is to chop it all off and go with a bob and I'm so heartbroken after spending 2 years growing out my hair I can hardly stand it. If Jessica had been more focused on the customer and serving my needs she would have seen how unhappy I was sitting in the chair and how painful the blow dry was. Instead she was more concerned with showing off her family, I believe there is a time and a place for that and in the chair is not that time. read more

There is NO PLACE I would ever let touch my head. I'm 40 now so every strand of hair is precious...hahaha BUT, honestly Anthony and his staff do a awesome job of cutting my hair and awesome. When I moved to Daly City for 6 months to help a start up I drove ALL the way down to San Jose to get my hair cut. Both my kids go to him to get their hair cut also and they love going their to sit in the Barber Chairs I would HIGHLY recommend this place to ANYONE! read more

This is a pretty interesting barber shop because the lady barber is cute and there are typically the usuals that come here and the barber knows them....which may be good but I felt like a complete stranger here when I show up. The price for the hair cut are about $15 plus dollars not including tip but I think the fades could be better here for that price. I mean I have thick hair but any good barber should be able to take it on but not this place. only 2 stars for me if you got thick hair..... read more

*Make sure you SCHEDULE an appointment before coming in, even if its 15 minutes before! I've been coming to this place for about 2 years and I'm pretty satisfied. The first, give or take, 8 times I came here I got a free hair wash and head massage. After, she started to say it costs extra. If I had extra money to spend I would get it every time. Haven't mustered up the initiative to give up a few bucks though. I would recommend it though! After a long day at work/school it really hits the spot. The hair wash is VERY refreshing! Without the wash and massage, I find $15 a bit pricey just for the haircut. Haircuts: $15 before tip. I've had Pauline every time and she is nice to talk to and does a great job every time. She gives great scalp massages too! The environment is great! Anthony usually has a movie or a sports game on and the place is decorated with jerseys that you can purchase. However, Anthony's attention may be directed to the television a majority of the haircut session. read more

SAVE YOURSELF AND DON'T COME HERE Anthony the owner of this establishment and Ivy Nails and Spa is very rude and has no concern for the customers. I came in to the spa to get a manicure which was done very poorly, I asked him for a refund because the service was crap. He refused to fix or refund the service that was given. He was rude and INTOXICATED, he was serving alcohol at the establishment, also they had 4 dogs, which by the way I doubt had their vaccinations, running around the establishment. He also had the potty training pads for them all over the place, so disgusting and unsanitary. Keep your pets at home not work. I already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, hopefully the can shut this place down. read more

They don't know how to cut women's hair. They just chop it with no transitions. It does not look like they want to have clients. Because the way they talk to you is not very professional. read more

Anton is another gorgeous asian that I truly admire ,especially his very keen eye and gentle hands, and shiny buda head. He cuts my hair twice a month. I CANT COMPLAIN! I make a appointment before I leave my house and ask if he's available. HE'S THAT BIG OF A DEAL!. LIKE A 9'ER FAN THAT I Am. He gets me drunk on weekends in the back-room, after a happy massage. And thats much my whole paycheck. no big deal, I'm a big tipper. I get paid weekly. Anton drives a different color Porsche everyday of the week. I bet he has more. He's the best. Trust me. I promise. read more

Well, I'm sorry to say, but this place is a joke. The haircuts are decent but overpriced. Ivy is the only one that does a decent job, but she is rarely there. I've been there quite a few times and they are usually closed whenever they choose to. The hours are posted as closing at 8pm. The last 4 times I've gone by (well before 7pm), they have been closed. Basically, they close whenever they decide, regardless of the time. I showed up one day at 7pm and the door was locked but people were inside getting haircuts. I made eye contact with the owner through the glass and pointed to my watch. He shrugged his shoulders and continued to cut the guys hair. I own a small business and bend over backwards to keep my customers happy. A place that doesn't give a crap about their customer is not a place that will get my business. I've always given a hefty tip (30% or more) The owner Anthony does a decent job of cutting hair. If you want him to change anything or see anything that he missed, too bad. When he is done, he is done and back to B.S.ing with his buddies which are always hanging around). I'm onto find a place that cares about its customers, and gives a decent haricut. This place just doesn't cut it! read more

I needed to get my beard trimmed for a Vegas trip. My coworker recommended Anthony @ Anthony for hair, so I made an appointment with Anthony. I walked in and right away Anthony offered me a beer. I was a little thrown off by the offer as I had never been to a barber shop or hair cut place where they offer you a beer so I declined. I introduced myself and told Anthony what I wanted done. He was very confident he could make my beard look good. He asked me if I wanted him to shave my head as well. I told him I usually do it myself. Then I asked how much to clean up my beard and shave my head? For 27$ I could not turn him down. He did a great job. He took his time and my beard/mustache came out better than I had hoped. The head shave was great as well. He prepped my head with his trimmers and then finished it off with a a straight blade. After talking with Anthony for a bit I felt comfortable enough to accept his offer for a beer. :-) After he was done he sent me over to get my head washed and I was given a short head massage. Excellent beard trim, head shave, wash/massage and a beer all for 27$? I will be coming back here for sure! read more

Anthony is the MAN! I let him go to town on my hair and he was truly a real-life Edward Scissorhands! He was watching football and socializing while cutting my hair, which made me nervous, but the results were unmistakably awesome. I am so freakin' happy with the results. They even dried my hair and straightened it. It was so nice. The price is also much nicer than some of these higher end salons! FYI: My mom was referred to him by her co-worker, my mom referred a friend and me to Anthony and everyone is thrilled with his work. read more

Anthony has been cutting my hair for the past 22 years. Once you find a place that you trust with your hair you never go anywhere else. His shop has a great atmosphere, and very friendly personnel. You can't go wrong and his prices are the best in town for what you get. I have recommended him now to several friends and now they all go here. Make sure you make an appointment and ask for Anthony. I am sure all his other staff do a great job too, but I haven't ever had them cut my hair. read more

Long story short... I tried to cut my own bangs and side pieces because I'm busy! But no. It was a disaster. I called and got an appointment for the best day. They saved my bags and framers and cut the overall length. It's perfect! I have A LOT of hair and it feels so much lighter now, plus I don't feel like I need to wear a hat when I leave the house. read more

So here's the story. I used to get my haircuts from the Bernal Barbershop at the corner of Santa Teresa and Bernal Rd. That place was awesome until they started getting rid of the cool barbers. They replaced them with some newbies. I made the mistake of getting my haircut with one of these newbies and he totally screwed up my hair. I'm a trial lawyer by trade so I need to have a descent cut. I went over to Anthony's shop. He took a look at the problem (believe me folks, this guy butchered my head...) and said "don't worry, I'll fix it". I didn't think things could get any worse than they were so I let Anthony go to work. Anthony not only fixed the cut, but managed to make it look awesome! Been going there ever since and have never been disappointed with the experience. His price is not too bad ($15 dollars for a men's haircut is pretty reasonable. You can have quality and you can have cheap. You can't have both people!). From a guy's perspective, this place rocks to get your cuts. Just be sure to call Anthony well in advance and set up an appointment. read more

I have been going to Ivy for years now and each time she does an excellent job. I have not found a better stylist than her for my hair and now I even take my kids to her. No one cuts hair for my son better than hers. I took him to super cuts or other places to save some bucks but they would do such a bland job. Ivy make s him look cool and cute for a 5 year old! I'll try someone once in a while but I always return to her. Thanks read more

I love, love, love this place! I came here to repair my damaged hair and "fix" the color. Ivy did an amazing job and she's just very friendly and knowledgeable. I have since bought both of my daughters in and they loved their results too! She is very open minded and helped us all make decisions about our hair. It is a very friendly atmosphere. Anthony is a very nice man and is welcoming when you come in. Connected to the hair salon is Ivy Nails & Spa which is also a great discovery. You can get your hair processed and a mani/pedi at the same time read more

Anthony For Hair - Best place to get a haircut, especially from Anthony. I would highly recommend this place!!! - Hair Salons Near Me - San Jose, California

I went to this place to get my hair straightened for New Year's Eve. The lady burnt my forehead with the hot iron while straightening my hair. When I asked her that I feel my forehead burn she had the nerve to say that nothing was wrong and kept assuring me that she didn't do anything instead of accepting that she burnt my forehead and get ice instead. It started hurting and she still insisted on "nothing happened, nothing is wrong" until I asked her to give me a mirror to look and yes there was a red welt on my forehead. The burnt area got darker and peeled off leaving raw skin and still hasn't healed completely even after one week. I had to go to my new year's party with band aid on my forehead . BE CAREFUL with this place !!! DO NOT GET HAIR DONE there. They are lucky that I didn't report the burn to consumer service. read more

I hate going to salons where I felt threaten with people touching my hair and long hours of waiting (although appointments was made) But Anthony Salon had changed all of that, I luv this place. The staffs here is great, I love Van & Ngoc, they're friendly and very sociable. Not only that, they were honest to consult what was best fit my face feature... :( I'm not so proud of that. Anyhow, you have to go here at least once to try their services or you have no clue what a great hair cut is like. read more

Very upset with the service. We have come here before and were returning customers due to the positive experience we received, however this time that was not the case. My boyfriend came for a haircut and got some new lady that totally made his hair too short and did not listen to him at all. It got so bad that this other stylist which was a male, had to step in and take over. Unfortunately she had messed it up so badly, there wasn't much this man could do to fix it. My boyfriend was very every upset and had to wear his hat out to cover the mess. Secondly, my daughter also got her eyebrows waxed during this visit. The sign clearly stated $8 for eyebrow waxing. When we go to pay she tells me that it was $13!!! Umm why does your sign say $8 if that's incorrect? Not happy at all since they ripped us off on the price. Based on the disaster haircut that my boyfriend who is a working professional has to sport and the jacked up inappropriate mystery price of the eyebrow waxing, we definitely will NOT be returning to this place! Sorry guys! You may want to confirm the price of services before they're performed if you do take the risk of going here since this place makes up mystery prices and you make walk out with an embarrassing hair disaster! read more

I heard about this place and specifically Anthony through some friends so I decided to check it out. The way they were talking about it I expected amazing customer service, a great hair cut, and an overall positive experience. I got NONE of that. I made an appointment with Anthony ahead of time (I hear he rudely turns away anyone who comes in without an appointment). When I walked in I tried explaining to him what he want and he walked away from me mid-sentence. When he came back he kept saying "I got it, I got it, short, short." NO. That is not what I wanted, not short at all. He then told me to sit because he is in a rush. WHAT?!?!?! His attitude completely turned me off and I quickly got up out of my seat and walked out. read more

Long overdue. For at least twelve years Anthony's has been my go to place for haircuts. The entire team knows what they are doing and always makes me feel welcomed and appreciated. Ivy and Jessica don't even need to ask what I want done. Usually the only question is how many minutes of scalp massage I want that day. It's always clean, well lit, well stocked, and you can look one direction in the mirror and watch a sporting event or another direction and see The Food Network or HGTV. This is a family-owned and operated business. They live here in Blossom Valley and clearly try their best to delight their clients. They have certainly succeeded with me! read more

5 Stars Not sure if he's got something worked out w/ my gf, but she really doesn't want me to go anywhere else to get my haircut when I'm up here in NorCal. Anthony really is a champ though when it comes to giving me a good fade/cut. The place has 2 flat screens usually w/ a game on, and next door he recently opened up a spot where your girl/wife can get her nails done if she doesn't wanna sit around and watch you get a haircut and chop it up w/ the guys. Some other spots in the area might do a decent fade too, but either use worn out clippers that cut you, don't disinfect their razors, or have use funky towels to dry your hair after washing it. Anthony's is the only place that's got everything in check. Even the girls that wash your hair for you are usually pretty nice (even though today, the one that took care of me looked like she needed a power nap or a few shots of espresso). I'll probably be back here every time I come to visit NorCal. read more
