I recently went with my terrified sister, and they kept her talking and distracted the entire time. It may just be me, but sometimes Dr. McNitt seems a little condescending about how I act (so what if I get a little chatty when I get nervous?), but that could also be because I'm gassed up. I went to Affordable Dentures in Rockford Illinois. The dentist name was Ben Mehta. This quack…read morepromised me he could make some dentures and implants that wouldn't pop off or come loose when I bit down or chewed. So I trusted him to do the job. It was to cost me $12051.00. When I went to get the implants put in, he started to numb me and he was the most excruciatingly painful dentist I have seen in my 60 years. It was the worst experience I've ever had and I've had 2 dry sockets at the same time. After I had healed enough I went back to have the snaps put in the dentures and he was totally and completely incapable of making them fit correctly. When he installed the snaps in the lower denture he put the snap so close to the outside edge of the teeth you could see the snap through the denture. When I bit down about 20% of the force was on my left side and 80% on the right causing the dentures to slightly twist putting unnecessary strain on them. I went back with the same complaint many times and he wouldn't even remove the soft realigner when making adjustments to the dentures. The dentures come with a 4 year warranty but the last time I was in trying to have him fix it he said that's ALL HE WOULD DO, he flat out told me he wasn't going to remake them. I said I would have to sue you him if he doesn't fix them. Then this fraudulent quack threw me out of his practice and is not honoring the warranty. I started this nightmare on 9/2/24 and he defrauded me out of my money on 3/11/25. The dentures continued to unsnap, twist, and cut my gums. On 5/18/2025 the twisting became too much for the weak spot to handle and they broke at the spot where he drilled the snap hole too close to the front of the teeth, and of course it would have to injure me again. So now I have no dentures and no warranty and he has my money RUN AWAY FROM THIS QUACK!!!!!! HE IS A THIEF!!!!! HE WILL HURT YOU ON PURPOSE!!!!! I have had dentures for over 35 years with snug fits and no adhesive....THAT IS UNTIL...I went to…read moreAffordable Dentures in 2018! My uppers were pretty good, but my lowers were way too big, loose, constantly falling out, and required large quantities of adhesive. I went back twice and nothing improved. When I called for the third time I was dismissed, told they couldn't help me anymore. I filed a complaint with my insurance company and they sued for damages and received (so I was told) $800 reimbursement. so I was living with these "economy" dentures up to the present. On April 23 of 2024 I decided to give him another chance and this time I would pay the extra money for "The Ultimate Fit" dentures for $3,091.00. I had to pay the entire amount up front, which should have been a red flag for me. Especially since, the first time he entered the room, he confronted me with the fact the he "lost" $800 on me. I told him that was the insurance company, but the fact remained that my lower dentures never have fit right without a large amount of adhesive. So, he made my new dentures to pick up on May 15. And even before I left the office I knew I was in trouble because the bite was off and both upper and lower dentures were loose and shifting. They made a minor adjustment but a week later, May 23, I was back because they were shifting and dropping in my mouth. Another adjustment and told to use more adhesive because the lowers barely sit on the top of my gums. And when I called for another appointment the secretary was going to give me a used car salesman skit about the virtues of "get used to them", "we can't make them fit without using adhesive", blah, blah. I told her to stop patronizing me that I have been wearing dentures over 35 years and not until I started going to Mehta had I ever used adhesives or had so many problems. I called again on June 28 to complain that I was biting my cheeks, my lips, and the teeth would tip and be crooked when I bite or chew. She told me the earliest appointment was 3 weeks out. So now I have an appointment on July 18 and am literally afraid to go for fear of retaliation. I am 73 years old and legally blind so every bus trip to his office is a 4 hour trip. I paid a big price for "The Ultimate Fit", the Cadillac of dentures, but what I got was a beaten up, used Yugo. Appropriate for the constant invitation, "You go now! We can't help you anymore!" So, because of the pain, I had to quit wearing my new dentures and go back to my old ones. What legal recourse does a person have when they have been exploited like this?
