It is definitely unique so you gotta check out this theatre specifically. It stands out from the others, even the other Alamos. This is a must on your bucket list for cinephiles. Once you walk in through the large front doors, you'll see for yourself how gorgeous the interior is. It feels so grand from the moment you're there. Surrounding the walls, is a bunch of Bruce Lee posters covered all around. He's clearly a classic and from the city! There is a bunch of merch, and selection of films to go through. There are ones from each country and it's hilarious that Michelle Yeoh has her own collection. The theatre itself feels special as you're surrounded by the intricate, artisan architecture. It's not just your typical big screen. And luckily, the chairs are comfy so you're settled in for the screening. For some showings, they have special previews, Q&As, photo pop ups, and sometimes even simple mementos to take back with you. So get your camera ready! Alamo Drafthouse also serves food! Depending on the film, there could be a special menu. They previously would someone directly come to you when you order, but switched to mobile. It could be distracting so now just download the app for quick service and they will bring it straight to you. If yall decide to order the classic popcorn, the bowl is huge so probably share it with your friends. Can't wait til next time!

I have a deep respect for the few surviving movie theaters, which is why it's disappointing that the Alamo in San Francisco has started to take much of the joy out of what should be a warm, fun experience. I completely understand the importance of respecting a film's start time. But the level of strictness has started to feel excessive. My partner and I arrived five minutes late to a movie a few weeks ago and were reprimanded by the person working at the front. We understood that we were late, but the coldness and severity of the interaction felt completely disproportionate to what had actually happened. It made an experience that should have been enjoyable feel unnecessarily unpleasant. The most frustrating part, though, is the tipping system. You have only 20 minutes after the film ends to edit your bill before a 20% tip is automatically added. But what exactly is that tip for? There is virtually no human interaction throughout the experience. You aren't greeted when you enter, no one checks in on you during the movie, and there's no server taking your order or providing traditional table service. You order your food through an app, and it's delivered to you in the dark. I'm happy to tip for good service, but automatically adding a 20% tip unless you catch it within a 20-minute window feels less like rewarding service and more like a system designed to make people pay a charge they may not have intended to leave. I really want to support movie theaters, especially independent and surviving theaters, and I genuinely want the Alamo experience to succeed. But lately, the combination of the overly rigid policies and the tipping system has made going to the movies feel less welcoming, less spontaneous, and ultimately less enjoyable.

Every good independent theatre is a plus to the character of the city . They have the normal snacks popcorn candy and maybe a hotdog. They also have beer which a lot of theater s are now doing. What ever keeps them afloat is good to me. This is now a non profit theatre so you can make a donation and receive a tax credit. The theatre originally opened in 1926 . It's now part of a neighborhood theatre chain along with the 4 star and the vogue. The service is quick and pleasant so you don't miss the movie. They sometimes have comedy or live music performances. They now have 265 seats with the two auditoriums. It's in the outer Richmond on Balboa street so parking can be touch and go but not quite as difficult as some areas which are totally impossible. So check it out go see a movie .

But if you've been to a movie here lately you know that the theater spaces have become deal-breakingly gross. The smell of mildew and mold is overwhelming. I get that since the theater became a non-profit overhead costs need to be low, but they need to address this, even if it means new seats. The wonderful benefactors who commissioned the tile mural (pictured) could complete the trick by simply by bringing the theaters up to the bare minimum they should be: a pleasant place to watch a movie.

They have $1 movies everyday if you are looking to go in a budget The 5 stars is mainly because the managers have a 5-star attitude when it comes to customer service. They have helped me out every time instead of brushing me off. In the beginning, I kept forgetting to scan my rewards membership as the concession workers don't ask for it. They were able to retoractively add my points or apply my rewards when I remember right after the transaction finished. It's much better than Cinemark when one forgets. Another thing is when one of the managers saw me looking at movie merch, they took the initiative to ask what I was looking for and bring out stock from the back to sell to me. For clarification, I had called in earlier in the week and the concession workers told me there were no more. I still came by to look and was pleasantly surprised they had merch in the back. I appreciated that very much, plus the theater got to sell a good portion of their stock that day. Win-win. Would recommend this theater to others.

I spoke to someone at the counter, and she gave me the emails for David (the general manager) and the theater so I could inquire about their birthday packages, pricing, and other details. I emailed both gm1464@regalcinemas.com and theatre1464@regalcinemas.com twice, but I never received any response. Because of that, I ended up just buying all the tickets myself and bringing in food for the party, which was very inconvenient and stressful. The only reason I'm giving 1 star instead of less is because of one employee named Skipper. He truly went the extra mile to help us with the seating arrangements and even helped me bring the food inside. He was very kind, helpful, and professional. If it weren't for him, my son's birthday could have been a disaster. Thank you, Skipper, for saving the day!

Orange cushy stadium seats that provide extremely minimal head-blockage Best part about this cinema has got to be their restrooms - no lie! Never in my life did I think I'd be all goo-goo-eyed over a bathroom but this 1 is the bees knees! They have the most luxurious toilet seats - they're *heated* ( ! ) and offer bidet functions for those who prefer that kind of action....there were so many buttons on this thing that I was scared to push anything for fear of setting off the disco lights.....and coming in from a frigid cold, blustry evening, I didn't want to leave that heated seat! :-) I'd totally come back here to see fantastic indie picks & can't wait to see what's playing next!

I found the facilities to be quite inviting. It's basement level and feels sequestered from the outside world (as it should), like a hi-tech vault to showcase and preserve humanity's best culture for the post-apocalypse future. I mean, it looks like a spaceship inside. It's swank and modern. It's comfortable and well-equipped. I did hear a few complaints about the seats being too lean-y and lacking arm rests, but I found them soft and well-spaced, and the sound and projection were great. My stuff looked great on screen. It was the perfect size for a post-show Q&A- 143 seats holds a crowd but not an impersonal one. The hosts were incredibly gracious and caring about the show they were putting on. This place doesn't organize shows like amateurs (trust me, I've done those.) If you're thinking of seeing a show here, it's probably something you wouldn't see anywhere else, so you might not know how to judge it. Consider yourself in good hands. It will be curated with taste. There's tons of great options for eating and shmoozing afterward right across the street, in Japantown's mall full of sushi places. One of my co-attendees is well versed in quality sushi, and called the place we went to one of the best she had found in the city. Pick this theater and neighborhood for a great night out.
