One of the only Thai restaurant near my place so this is our on the go Thai whenever our taste buds demands it. Middle of the week, after work, lazy to prepare dinner but wanted to be served fast and eat fast to rest early, we've decided to eat at Anothaï.
We opened the door and were quite surprised, a lot of tables were already occupied but as usual we were greeted politely by the owner/server and gave us the option to choose an available table that suited us.
Once seated (7:20pm), we immediately received the menu card (a lot to choose from), was able to order 10 minutes after and was served with krupuk and drinks. We opted for soup and a main dish. Then the nightmare began ...
Pros :
- Polite multilingual service;
- Great Menu Card (if you want to discover Thai Food, it's the place to be as there are a lot of dishes to choose from : fish, seafood's, pork, chicken, beef, etc.);
- Until now, no need for reservation as we've been able to sit and eat;
- 10% discount for Take Away orders.
To improve :
- The place has to be revamp as there are a lot of cracks here and there;
- Too bad for paper napkins;
- Slow service (only one server who is the owner) because no real catering experience;
- Due to the slow service, we had to request to have it Take Away (we came at 7:30pm and left at 9:15pm and the main dish was served via Take Away). This happened because they've put the Take Away orders in priority instead of taking the restaurant's order first (very disappointing).
Food :
- A lot to choose from (wide choice of Thai food). This for me was PERFECT, a nostalgic experience when we were in Thailand last October 2014.
- I've ordered the spicy herb soup with mushroom and tamarind which was divine. There were real mushrooms and tofus and a lot of it! Unlike at other Thai restaurants, this one has the real Thai food's smell and taste (thanks to the female Thai chefs).
- As main dish : Fried fresh rice noodles with beef, egg, vegetables and black soy sauce and it tasted phenomenal.
Poops Corner :
- Two restrooms available (male and female). A common comfort room although quite dated and need a revamp (like the whole restaurant);
- At the ladies room, there's a toddler potty seat (a bit weird but maybe for Momma's with children);
- The faucet of the sink was calcareous so the while washing your hands, you should be careful not to splash on your clothes!
Price :
- Reasonable price for what you get. A bit pricey for the soups but nevertheless the taste is awesome (kudos to the Thai chefs).
Overall :
- This is a nice place to go if you want to discover a variety of Thai Food. But be warned as the service could get quite long and instead of having a two hours meal, you might leave 5 hours later (better get a Take Away then). read more
