Deanne is fantastic! I trust my hair with her and have for the last few years. When I made the dramatic change from long to short, she gave me a perfect cut, taking time to tweak it when I decided I wanted to go a bit more short than originally planned. Now that I'm growing it out again, she is keeping me well styled through the in between phase. I decided last minute I wanted a rockabilly look for an event and so I called Rebel. Annie and Caycee rearranged their schedules to squeeze me in on a Saturday. Talk about 5 star customer service. When I showed up, I was pretty sure I was in the wrong place. It is definitely not a place I would randomly stop at ...BUT, I really had a FANTASTIC experience. Annie did my matte finish make-up, complete with full red lips and cat liner. Caycee worked what was nothing short of MAGIC on my locks, once in my housewife style dress with pearls, I looked like a pin-up out of the 50s. Caycee and Annie are very collaborative and compliment each other, their personalities are so different, but it just works and I loved every second of my time at the salon. To top it all off the time they spent making sure my hair and make-up were perfect I though FOR SURE was going to cost me a fortune, BUT NO! Completely reasonable! My first thought when I walked into Rebel last weekend was Whimsical!! Unique vintage eye candy like art, funky furniture, lighting, old books ... weird vintage stuff AND a hair salon!?!? I tried to take it all in but I knew I could not. I could not stop looking at everything even while sitting in Annie's chair to get my hair cut. I even fell in love with the bathroom!!!! Its hard to believe that Annie has been doing my hair for 7-8 years...maybe longer. Annie is THE color expert!!! She has taken my naturally dark hair and made me platinum blonde, blonde with pink, blue or purple and back to rich dark natural colors. Not only is she a color expert, her hair cuts are worth every penny. She has cut my hair when it was long, then short and now creatively cutting it to help me ease back into long hair. The best thing about Annie is she will explain in detail what it will take to achieve the color and style you want. She definitely knows her science and helps me understand how to care for my hair. I decided to cut my hair for the first time in three years, so I called in to see if they had any openings. Annie got in me in the same day (bless) and I've never been happier. I was worried that cutting off so much hair would make me look super weird, but it's so cute. She razored (sorry if I spelt it wrong) my hair which I've never had done before, but it's now my favorite thing. Everyone is absolutely wonderful here, and no matter how busy they are they make you feel welcome and they focus on you as much as they possibly can. Love love love Annie and this badass salon. I found Rebel Salon & Vintage through yelp. I was looking for a salon that looked edgy and hip since I was in search of some funky color for my head. Annie took extra time out of her day to make sure I was happy with my hair. Even though we couldn't make my hair exactly how I wanted, she managed to make it absolutely amazing and whimsical. Maybe even better than I imagined. I recommend Annie and the salon to anyone who is looking for someone who knows color inside and out. Annie knows how to cut a guy's hair! After going to the same stylist at AZ Hair Company for 10+ years I figured it was time to try something different. After trying a few different places and walking out unimpressed, I visited Annie @ Rebel, told her what I liked and didn't like about my hair and 30 minutes later I walked out feeling like a million bucks. Highly recommended and they have some very cool stuff for sale in the vintage half of the business. read more

I just had my hair done by Alex. First off let me say it's hard to find someone who really understands men's hair and can explain it back to you. Alex did a great job on my cut. She was patient with me as I struggled to explain my concept and made sure I left very satisfied. She even showed me what I needed to do to get my hair in the style I wanted while using a little product as possible. If you want someone who really knows her stuff go to Alex. read more

I would not recommend Alex if you decide to come to this salon. She cut my hair way shorter than I asked for, which would have been ok, but her technique seemed to be lacking. She even admitted halfway through that it was looking 'lopsided' which made me very nervous. When I got home I agreed it was still lopsided and returned to have it fixed. She said she understood my concern but continued to hack away until I finally just left in order to preserve what hair I had left. One side was much shorter and more layered than the other. I pointed this out several times but she didn't seem to really understand. She is a very sweet girl but this is still affecting me many weeks later and really bothers me. I have had to wait until it grows out to have it fixed so I don't have reallyyyy short hair. Such a bummer. read more

Two awesome places in one! Rockin' unique vintage on one side of the store and on the other a great salon! Annie in the salon is a master in her craft. I've followed her for years now and it's awesome that she was able to open such a visionary store. Her services are top notch. She specializes in color but is awesome at haircuts, blow-outs and even the updo for your big day! There are lots of interesting, and rare vintage pieces, not to mention the up and coming pieces from local artists that are showcased every month. I enjoyed my first-time visit with Rebel a little while ago. The cut and color was great (and I rely on a great cut/color to enhance my wimpy thin, fine hair). It was fun visiting with Alex and Annie, too. I am a 65 year old female, definitely not a hipster, but I did not feel unwelcome in any way. I loved that they are welcoming to everyone. This review is painfully overdue, but I'm still writing this review even though it's been 9 months since I went to rebel salon because they deserve all the positive reviews. I was coming in from out of town for a conference, first time alone, away from my baby in about a year. I hadn't had my hair cut or colored in over a year. While at the airport waiting for a connection I frantically called rebel salon to see if they could fit me in that evening when my plane arrived. They said yes! I went straight from the airport to the salon, bags in tow,and was greeted warmly by Annie. Later, I learned she stayed late just for me. She pampered me, introduced me to balayage ( I know I'm spelling that wrong) and gave me a beautiful cut. She had awesome, cool, adventurous hair but never once made me feel lame for my basic blonde lob. She did an amazing job on my hair, but was good for my spirit too. I haven't had a haircut since then and seriously would like to return to Phoenix just for Annie and her awesome salon. She is awesome, rebel is awesome and you are crazy if you go anywhere else. read more
