Monica of Saaty Photography was super responsive, friendly, professional, and luckily, she had availability to work with my family on that Saturday morning... We talked, texted, and emailed prior to meeting, so I prepared Monica who her subjects would be -- there were 5 adults, 2 kids, and a dog in our group; and Monica suggested some potential locations for photos. I couldn't be more pleased with the final product, a few of which I shared here. My kids, 4 and 6, were not the easiest subjects, and my dog added even more of a potential challenge with pictures, but Monica wasn't phased by any of it. After looking over her website I saw she did more than just studio photos, but really attracted me to contact her was the fact that none of the family pictures looked awkward. I'm horrible with fake smiles are weird poses, and needed someone who isn't afraid to say "Hey you look like a terrified turtle, change the way you're standing and smiling" etc. I called Kristen and we set up a meeting at her office. She told me this is part of the reason her pictures don't look awkward, as the first meeting is to talk about what you want, pricing, and to get to know each other. You then set up another appointment for the photo shoot, and when you meet her out in the field you already know each other. That in itself eliminates some of the awkwardness of a stranger pointing a camera at you, just like she said it would. Kristen is extremely enthusiastic about her work, as I told her the scene I wanted and she found it for me. She goes scouting for areas closer to the time of your photo shoot to make sure there's no drastic changes when you arrive, like forest service chopping all the trees down, etc. She has a great sense of humor and keeps you talking/laughing, which almost eliminated the need for her to tell me to change my pose, as I was laughing the whole time (I said almost, I'm awkward when it comes to pictures so she did have to tell me to move a couple times...but that's exactly what I was looking for).She also did not mind that I wanted my dog in the pictures with me, and was very pet friendly even when he was being difficult. Also, I was thirty minutes late (I know, I know, I suck), and while I did lose out on some sunlight time Kristen was not grumpy towards me at all. She's better than I would have been! With all the above listed qualities, I would recommend her to anyone!
