i walked over to bayfield convenience today because i needed to grab some money out of their atm. i tried my card and it didn't work. i realized i didn't activate the physical card yet so i had to go on my phone to do that and i had to transfer some money around. i figured ill just stand by the machine while doing this instead of standing in the cold, it was close to zero. it took me about 25 mins cause the app was giving me a hard time.
just as i finished and i was about to make my cash withdraw i heard someone coming up behind me. it was the owner of the store. he had a very angry look on his face and started yelling
at me and telling me i have to leave and i've been here too long.
i was quite startled. i tried to de escalate and tell him i apologize for being here awhile i was just trying to transfer money. he just continued his screaming "you have to leave it's been half hour it's not working" and waving his arms around aggressively. "get the fuck out of my store." "go to a different store" i tried to handle it the best i could but he was on a rampage. i thought he was gonna start breathing fire.
i started to walk towards the exit and he also made his way towards the front of the store. thankfully, a male customer walked ino to previously empty convenience store, and waited at the cash register like he wanted to buy lotto or cigarettes. the owner while still screaming, cursing and waving his arms at me as i'm walking towards the exit. but thankfully he didn't continue the altercation any longer as he needed to help the customer.
the customer didn't know what was going on and seemed kinda freaked out by the owners explosive behaviour. before i leftthe store i just told him that that isn't the way you should act while running a business and told him he has serious problems and then left the store. i really think i tried my best to handle it as i could.
i am still really taken aback, shocked. i've never seen an employee, let alone an owner of a business act in such an aggressive angry manner. there's absolutely no excuse anyone could make to justify his behaviour.- it's especially hard to justify when you consider, i am a customer at his business and i was really doing NOTHING WRONG!
it's close to zero outside and im using my phone to transfer money from one bank acct to my other. it's not like i have no reason to be in the store or like im causing anyone an issue. i feel his behaviour was beyond irrational and abusive.
a person who has such a difficult time controlling their aggression and anger shouldn't be in a customer service position. he's very unstable evidently and it's quite concerning. i would recommend staying away from shopping here..
i wanted to post this as a google review but it seems that he listed his store as permanently closed due to people giving one star due to his behaviour. so i reported to google that it's actually open and they put it back as open, lol! the bad reviews are from 6 years ago, so he has had the store listed as closed for 6 years and this behaviour has been going on for at least that long. i don't know how he's still in business.
