This is not the first cherry angioma I have had removed, so I know that when the procedure is performed correctly, it is typically removed the first time. From the moment I arrived, the appointment was treated as a follow-up visit. In my view, this was not a follow-up; it was a correction of an unsuccessful procedure. Despite this, I was required to pay for another office visit. I do not consider this fair or ethical. I expected the clinic to take responsibility for a treatment that did not achieve the intended result and to show greater consideration for its patients. I have been a patient of this clinic for several years, but after this experience, I have decided not to return. I am sharing this review so others can be aware of my experience and make an informed decision.

Dr. Thosani is not only beautiful on the outside, but even more so on the inside. She has an incredible bedside manner, takes her time to thoroughly explain everything, and makes sure you understand the "why" behind the treatment plan. I was especially impressed when I needed staples in my head. I was hesitant at first, but she carefully explained why staples would be better than stitches in my case. She even drew out a diagram to show how staples would allow for better healing and hair growth compared to sutures. That level of care and attention truly went above and beyond. Everyone in the office was so kind and welcoming. The entire staff made me feel comfortable from start to finish. Her medical assistant, Gio, was absolutely fabulous as well. Dr. Thosani is knowledgeable, skilled, serious when she needs to be, yet warm and even funny -- she made the entire experience much easier than I expected. As someone who works in the medical field, I know how rare it is to find a provider who combines exceptional skill, genuine compassion, and true passion for what they do. This practice has it all wrapped into one. It may be an hour drive for me, but it is 100% worth it. I'm so glad I did my homework and found this place. They are simply off the charts amazing. In addition, I was REQUIRED to give them my credit card number for their retention and for future use even though I paid cash for my co-pay. My first impression is that Modern Dermatology does not trust that I will come to my appointments. Here is part of their no show policy. The following is our No-Call / No-Show policy: * Non-surgical patients who fail to call or show will be charged a $50 fee. * Aesthetic patients who fail to call or show will be charged a $100 fee. * CO2 Laser patients who fail to call or show will be charged a $150 fee. * Surgical patients who fail to call or show will be charged a $200 fee. * Mohs procedural patients who fail to call or show will be charged a $200 fee. * If a third failure to call or show occurs, the patient may be dismissed from MODERN Dermatology. * This "no-show charge" is not reimbursable by your insurance company. You will be billed directly for it. * New patients who are no-call/no-shows for their appointments will not be rescheduled.

I then sat in the waiting room for almost 40 minutes before going up to the front desk again to ask when I would be seen - it was then that they let me know they were running way behind schedule. Given that I had to pick my kids up by a certain time, they finally brought me back once I asked about the timing and I was only able to see a provider for a quick visit. My experience with the staff once I was see was great but I will have to reschedule my original appointment for a full body scan another day. Overall a decent medical experience but terrible timing and customer service experience.

Call wait times are lengthy and it is nearly impossible to actually get a hold of anybody in the office itself. - Paradise Valley Dermatology now charges an office fee for each visit. This is on top of your treatment fees - even for chronic ongoing or autoimmune diseases. The reason provided by the front desk manager is they need to rediagnose your condition at EVERY appointment- even for life-long incurable issues undergoing existing treatment with their office. Depending on your insurance, this office fee can exceed $300. Many insurances will NOT cover this additional charge. - Dr. Blair - after more than 30 years, is no longer with Paradise Valley Dermatology!!! (Probably because of the awful office manager and her terrible attitude). - Kenan Arkawi is also no longer with Paradise Valley Dermatology!!! I found this out two days before my appointment when I was offered an alternative time with a physician I had never met. - Two practitioners leaving the practice in such a short period of time, combined with a significant reduction in the office support staff has led to a sharp decline in Paradise Valley Dermatology's ability to effectively manage patients. - The front office manager does not like patients. She's rude, condescending, unhelpful, and does not care if long time patients leave the practice due to her behavior. It's easy to understand now why so much of the support staff has quit or left the practice. I'd put her name in here, but I've never actually seen this manager at the office before today. I'll add it later if I can get it from the escalation teams. Recap: please avoid this office at all costs. The quality in service and care has gone down significantly.
