It was interesting to see the flood lines on the trees along the river. This is a free hike. We parked at the Rogers Grove Park lot and picked up the trail from there. It crosses under Hover St/N 95th St. It is an easy walk with very little elevation gain. We walked to the St. Vrain River Waterfall and watched the ducks for a bit. This was a lovely stop while making our way up to Fort Collins.

No. Does it feel like a bit of untapped nature within a short drive of your neighborhood making it easy to frequent? Absolutely! Many people walk, jog, and take their dogs here. I often see fishing as well. There are not too many bicycles. It is also great for any birders interested in water fowl, such as pelicans, cormorants, blue heron, and ducks. We have enjoyed taking our dogs to Golden Ponds over the years. With the area having a few ponds, you can switch up your walk. Some areas around the ponds are full sun and others offer a shaded reprieve. I have not had any issues finding parking, which is free. The park also has benches around ponds, canopied picnic tables, and flushing toilets in the restrooms near the entrance.

However, there are no dog poop bags. if you are bringing your furry friend, be sure to pack some bags along with you. There are 3 different trails at the open space none of them overly long. The overlook trail is more rocky though not bad. There are also no trees. The loop trail has some trees but its not really shaded. The loop trail does have some lovely views. In september to at some point in January, the trail does close to hikers monday through weds. for "elk management" so be sure to check cotrex to see if trail is open or closed. Winter is really a great time to hike this area. The temps are cooler and the snow makes the trees and area look magical.

I had to take the initiative and just drive here just to make sure that it was open and what we were able to do. I was delighted to find such a beautiful park right along the river bank. Have the ability to tube and have the little ones play. Children can play, and there is also a kid pool (a definite bonus). I was afraid that it would get packed and we end up not being able to stay. So I was left behind, and my husband went back to get the rest of the family. Since it is Monday, I figure it is not going to get too busy. But, I am not going to take a chance. This spot should be on the list of visiting places. Especially right now that Boulder creek is closed and many other outdoor activities.

I was so nervous walking in, but from the moment we arrived, every single staff member made us feel welcomed, safe, and supported. Our guide, Koa, was the perfect balance of fun, kind, and incredibly skilled. He guided us through the rapids with such confidence and ease while also making sure everyone felt safe and included. He checked in on us several times throughout and made sure we were having fun, asked us if we wanted to "spice it up" a bit or keep it mellow and just really let us know this was "our" trip and he's cater to what we wanted. I quickly found myself letting go of fear and enjoying the moment... something I didn't expect would happen. Koa's energy was contagious, and his calm, respectful nature made us feel like we were in the best hands possible. At one point on the river, another rafting company had a mishap and we had to pull over and wait for them to recover and get their riders back into the raft safely. Koa explained what had happened with total grace - no judgment, no gossip - just a calm and respectful explanation. He also spoke so kindly of his own coworkers and even the owner of Liquid Descent. You could tell he genuinely cares about the rafting community and takes pride in his work and LOVES his Liquid Descent family! Every employee we encountered was friendly, encouraging, and helpful - from getting us fitted with helmets and life jackets to cheering us on as we headed out. As someone who started out nervous, that kind of supportive vibe made a huge difference. They encouraged me, and they helped me push past my comfort zone in the best way possible. What a GREAT memory! We will remember this day not only for the thrill of the rapids, but for the kindness and heart of the people who guided us through it! It is a very small park and seems like it would be great for RV camping. As for walking and getting steps it was not the spot. It is a very small state park and was covered in flies. I couldn't walk more than a few steps without have a ton in my face. It was very clean though and all the staff were so kind! As I was walking around I saw the come by and clean the restroom and take the trash. Seems like a very well kept park, many people were on the pond fishing. I doubt I would come back for a walk but if I ever need to find a good RV park I will keep this location in mind!

With her passenger van and canoe trailer, she made the entire process of getting in and out of the river a breeze. Lauren did a great job training everyone learn how to properly handle their canoe and leading us down the river. While the trees hadn't quite started springing out leaves, the birds were plentiful and easy to see in the various roosting areas that we passed by in our canoes. There was even a herd of cattle that crossed the river in front of us. We stopped for lunch along the way to relax and enjoy the scenery. Lauren made the entire day fun and we really enjoyed the entire experience.

B) Free parking. Hollllla! McIntosh is nestled in the middle of a residential area and I kind of love that (residents may say other wise). You have a spectacular view of Longs Peak right in front of you and even though you're near an airport, it's pretty quiet. North side has a playground with restroom and there are multiple places to launch from on your sup or kayak. This will be going into my regular rotation for sup next year!

McIntosh is my favorite place to have an impromptu SUP drop-in the water and a frequented stop to take my dogs walking over the years. Parking is free and almost always easy to find. McIntosh does not test their water, so keep that in consideration, especially if you are taking dogs into the water as they can easily get sick or worse from any contaminated/algae bloom lake water. Learn what blue algae is and look for signs before entering.
