She and her staff give you a very honest assessment of the scope of what's needed for dental procedures, health of teeth, etc. The office doesn't act like a sales company, constantly upselling like many places do so often in the 2020s. Great dentist. Definitely has a very family/neighborhood feel. I went to pick up a mouth guard recently. I thought it was really painful so she said "let's just send it back to the manufacturer and get a different type. Come back sometime in the next week or two and it should be here". So I came in without an appointment and she said "hi Dustin I have your mouth guard right here". No appointment. No looking at the calendar and knowing I was coming. She just knew my name and knew why I was coming in. I definitely don't feel like a file in a filing cabinet. She does good work on the teeth too lol. She is a perfectionist (like how you want a dentist to be). She can see an ever so faint mark on an X-ray and say "I don't like the look of that" then she drills in and finds there was in fact decay there. Also, she listened when I said I didn't think the Novocaine was working. She said "do you have red hair or red hair in your family? Because that's been linked to Novocaine resistance". I do have a bit of red hair and red hair in my family, And I'd never heard that before! So she gave me a double dose and waited a little bit longer and then I was totally pain free. So good work, lots of experience, very personalized touch. She's very involved in the community, and she talks about going to town halls about local issues and stuff like that. So not only do I get great care and great service when I go, but I feel good knowing I'm supporting a very LOCAL small business. read more

Dr. Anna is great! I took my 85 year old mother to have her teeth cleaned and a loose tooth removed. This was my first visit to Dr. Harmandarian and it was very positive. I had to wait a bit to be seen after my appointment time, but that was not a problem and well worth it when I did get seen. I had a broken filling in a rear molar. I think she could have easily suggested a costly crown as the filling was apparently deep, but she elected to make a repair. They gave me the estimate for the work to be done and got started. I think it was more work that had been originally anticipated, but the Dr. kept at it and completed the job at the original quoted cost. Hands down, the best in LA. I've been going to Dr. Harmandarian for about 10 years now, so I've had plenty of experience. My teeth aren't the worst, but they're not easy, because I have extremely sensitive gums. I've been to 4 different dental offices since moving to LA over 20 years ago. All of them seemed to care about nothing more than selling me expensive surgical procedures. I had given up on the idea that anyone actually cared about their patients. Dr. Harmandarian changed everything for me. She's the first dentist I've seen that really listens to me, and then thinks about what's best for me, the patient, and gives advice based on this, rather than what will make her the most money. And when she recommends something outside of her top expertise, she gives a referral to someone who is a top expert. Most recently, Dr. Harmandarian added a couple of new assistants and a hygienist. I've been asking the Dr. for recruiting advice because how awesome her new employees are. I should also be asking for management advice because everyone is so attentive, personable and customer experience focused. The new hygienist, Hannah, is amazing. At my recent appointment, my sensitive gums didn't bleed at all. This has never happened before in my experience at any dentist. She is extremely accurate with the cleaning tools and has the patience needed to maintain this accuracy through the entire cleaning process. The appointment takes longer than usual, which may not be the right fit for someone in a rush. I really appreciate it and would even pay more for Hannah to do the cleaning. Let's talk about the office. When you walk in, it's plain, basic, non-flashy, no branding, no marketing, old-school to the max, and I love this. It's comfortable with no pretentiousness, and it's actually relaxing. It also means they didn't spend a bunch of $$$ on the front office that they will have to recoup on me. Nevertheless, I can't remember ever having to wait in the waiting room. They're always ready when I arrive. Through the pandemic, this office had a simple, non-confusing plan and they kept things well organized and clean. I always felt safe. They still wear masks and offer hand sanitizer which is thoughtful and provides peace of mind. The exam rooms are super clean, high-tech but not over the top high-tech. Meaning they have new to new-ish equipment and chairs, they use a typical X-ray machine, no panoramic machine, such as the Orthopantomogram (OPG). This is the only thing I can think of that would make the experience even better, but it's probably crazy expensive and takes up a lot of space. I have been absolutely terrified of seeing a dentist for my entire life. I have crippling dental anxiety and even the sound of the drills and the pressure on my teeth freaks me out. But I finally decided to challenge that fear and make an appointment with Dr. Harmandarian and I am so glad I did. She is patient, kind, accommodating, and gentle. She is very in tune with her patients. She knows when I've hit my limit and need to schedule out new appointments instead of trying to tackle more than I can handle in one visit. She prescribed me a small amount of medication to help with my dental anxiety and is just a genuinely great dentist. I scheduled my initial check up not really knowing if I would be able to handle going in for another visit because of my anxiety, but i have now had three cavities fixed in the last two weeks. Her assistant Cassandra is really polite and encouraging as well. I couldn't ask for a better experience. I'm still anxious about dental work but my visits with Dr. Harmandarian have helped me work through it so much. I'm so grateful to be her patient. (Unrelated, she is even helping a small litter of kittens and their mama who live on her property and making sure they're safe and cared for responsibly. She's just a dang good human!) read more

I had my first visit with Dr. Harmandarian today and it was wonderful! My husband and I recently moved to Highland Park so I was looking around on Google/Yelp for dentists in our area and came across Dr. Harmandarian. I can say with confidence that all of the 5 star reviews that led me to making this appointment with her were validated, and here I am writing my own 2 hours after the appointment. Both she and Cassandra were extremely warm and welcoming and since I mentioned I was new in town they gave me a whole list of local areas to check out as they were doing the cleaning. Dr. Harmandarian was also very thorough and took the time to show me the x-rays and photos she took of my teeth and explained everything she was seeing and gave recommendations for the few very minor problem areas. I left feeling very well taken care of from a dental perspective, but also like I'd just spent an hour with some friends who were giving me a warm welcome to the neighborhood. Went here for cleaning and x rays. And was told I needed some fillings. I came back and got a filling done, I was in the chair for like 2 hours and at the end of the session I was told it was too tight of a space to work and I would have to come back for another session to try again. Super crazy to be drilling in someone's mouth for two hours then say you missed it and will need to redo in a couple months at your own expense. I had pain in that area for the next month or so and one day felt something fall out of the tooth. It was a wooden wedge they used to make space to work between teeth that had been lodged inside my gums for over a month. Never will return. Dr Harmandarian's is a small but more boutique style practice. You get the feeling of having a dentist friend more so than a strict business operation. I've been her patient for several years now and am quite happy. She's caring, knows what she's doing, and flexible with appointments. One small word of advice, allow a little extra time because it's like catching up with an old friend so there's always a little extra chit chat. But I love that. Dr. Harmandarian and Cassandra are the best! I felt as, soon as I entered the office, I seriously felt as if I was in a home. Home sweet home. Not just any home, a home full of life. Plants, books from Michelangelo to books from around the world and paintings. Two sofas, as in a museum, yet a really comfortable setting, where you can get lost reading and looking at these beautiful books and forget you even have a cell phone, haha. Entering into the dental room, their were more paintings and I can't forget, the tunes! From Marvin Gaye, the Gypsy Queens and Mana, it was definitely an A list of musicians and very much culturally diverse. This I would say just made my teeth cleaning, which I was 2 months over do, that much more relaxing. One exceptional element that stood out, was that Dr. Harmandarian cleaned my teeth as if she was a fine artist. Smooth, took her time, yet finished in no time. Dr. Harmandarian is truly amazing at her job. As I paid and headed on my way out, I asked her about this Albert Enstein fine art panting, I liked so much. I asked her, who had painted it. What do I know, she told me, she did. Makes sense! I said with a smile : ) As I was leaving the office, I was given a toothbrush pack by Cassandra and thanked by Dr. Harmandarian and Cassandra for stopping by. I hadn't been to a dentist in over a decade. Naturally, I was scared I'd have a mouthful of cavities or worse. My friend had just had a routine cleaning with Dr. Harmandarian and suggested her because she and her staff are so friendly, the office is so clean and quiet, and the price for patients without dental insurance is affordable. Needless to say, I had a mouthful of cavities. Dr. H was kind enough to walk me through my x-rays, explaining the work I'd need to have done. And it's been extensive work. But we're doing a cavity at a time, cleaning along the way. I can already tell the difference in my smile. I am absolutely clownishly phobic of dental work (very seriously-- I talk about it in therapy lol) and Anna is so so nice and understanding and doesn't make me feel bad or awkward. By far one of the Best experiences by chance. I read great reviews on yelp and decided to give this cute-homey place a shot. I guess you can call it a NEW HOTT SPOT in Eagle rock. Scheduling was easy and Parking was easy. Just my kinda spot! Upon walking in, I was greeted by the assistant who was super sweet. She took care of my paperwork and did my X-Rays while my hubby was filling out his paperwork. Then I met Dr.Anna Harmandarian, she was so nice and made me feel right at home. We had such wonderful conversations which helps put anyone at ease. She did my cleaning and complemented my teeth & nail design. She was thoughtful enough to put some Johnny Cash hits during my cleaning session which also made my hubby feel a bit more comfortable. Personal touches like these make her a winner! Dr. Anna Harmandarian was excellent in our eyes, that we were talking about her throughout the night. Her prices are very competitive and even the hubby liked the service (which is rare for him). I know we will be returning back as we scheduled another cleaning for us in 6 months.
