I was extremely disappointed with the overall experience I had with this photographer during my…read morewedding. From the beginning, there were several issues that made the process uncomfortable and unprofessional. When the photographer arrived at my hotel room, it was a private space filled with women getting ready. I was still in the process of getting my makeup done and had not yet changed into my wedding dress. Unexpectedly, the photographer's husband--who was not part of our contract or hired services--entered the room with her. My mother had to politely ask him to wait in the lobby while I was getting dressed, which should not have been necessary in such a private and intimate setting. Prior to the ceremony, we informed the photographer that we planned to take photos outdoors and were waiting on further instructions, as we were not from the area. The original directions I received were incorrect, and we clarified which side of the venue we wanted to use for portraits. Despite the venue being the same location, her husband made a snide comment about how inconvenient the change was, which felt uncalled for and unprofessional. Once we arrived at the venue, she did take some photos, but during the reception, things became more disappointing. She and her husband sat down to eat with our guests--something we had only agreed to provide for her, not her husband. When the majority of our guests were ready for photos (about an hour after dinner was served), my mother had to repeatedly ask her to resume taking pictures. When she did, she appeared visibly annoyed and took random photos that did not reflect the main events or key moments of the celebration. For instance, we had a memorial table honoring our deceased relatives. She took a photo of the sign on the table but failed to capture the full display. I ultimately ended up with more meaningful and candid pictures from friends and family than from our paid photographer. After the event, we received a photo link and a USB drive with our gallery. Unfortunately, it was full of duplicates and random shots that lacked relevance to our wedding or guests. The editing was minimal at best--mostly black-and-white filters or slight lighting adjustments. There was no attention to composition, indoor/outdoor lighting balance, or detail. The final product felt rushed and lacked the quality and artistry showcased on her website. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this photographer for a wedding or any significant event. The professionalism, quality of work, and understanding of current photography standards were not reflected in the service we received.

However, this shoot was far from pleasant. It was to the point Shannon was down right RUDE & NASTY towards my 14 day old baby!!!! It was insane her attitude the entire shoot!!!! She had to be joking right???? My first son was bottle fed and took a pacifier and clearly didn't mind being put in poses, however, our newest addition was breast fed and never had a pacifier, so he easily woke and didn't necessarily like being posed. This seemed to ANNOY Shannon and oh boy did she act ANNOYED during the session!!! For $1000 for this session you'd think she would show a little more professionalism! She didn't!! She was patting his back extremely hard, getting frustrated and pulling away from him, pulling down her masks and making snide comments, and even on the last shot my son moved out of place and she slams her camera down and yells I'm done!!!! I thought to myself "you're joking right?" She was seriously upset with my 2 week old baby! It was very uncomfortable and my brother who accompanied me noticed. Like lady get some patience!!! Not all babies are the same and some may be a little more of a challenge to shoot but this is your profession, she claims to have been doing this for over a decade, and she's compensated very well for this!!!! I was highly upset & didn't say anything until now because I didn't want it to affect the turn around time of my pictures!! But I am done with Shannon Leigh Studios. I will no longer patronize this business or refer anyone here. She DOES NOT have the temperament to work with babies! Also, she'll tell you she was a daycare/kindergarten teacher for years & I feel awful for those poor children if she acted the way she did in this shoot to those babies as well! BEWARE!!!!!!!
