Went in to buy a new pair of walking shoes. Found a pair of sketchers in 7.5. Asked the clerk to…read moreshow me a pair of new balance. As i have never worn this brand she advised me to go with a 7 she said they will stretch out so much so not to go the half size larger. I wore them for 2 days and my toes were hurting so bad I took them back in and told the manager what had happened. She said since I wore them outside she cannot resell them. I asked her to send them back to New Balance since it was the clerk that advised me to go a smaller size than what I asked for. She said no and that she does not know which clerk sold me the shoes but she will talk to her. I said you will know if you look at my receipt. The manager was too busy looking at her phone to get up off her big lazy butt and just told me no she cannot take the shoes back since she cannot resell them. Just saying. So the sales clerk got a 2 pair of shoes commission and I don't have a new walking shoe!

In learning of my drive, they were able to work me in so I didn't have to make another drive to pick it up. I'm not someone that easily interacts with others but they made me feel right at home, great welcoming smile. I was charged about 1/3 of what I was optimistically hoping to spend. I should have brought my boots also. Even though I have no immediate need, am hoping I end up there again.

9/21 - Final Update: The owner of the business personally contacted me to apologize for situation…read more We spoke for a few moments and he was sincere in stating what occurred is not how he wants his business to treat any customer. He indicated, however, that my work request is not a task that his staff normally completes which may have been part of the reason it was not completed. Regardless, I am deeply grateful to Boyer's for making the outreach and sincerity of all apologies offered in response to this situation. Given that I do not current have any boots in need of tapering, I do not know if I will make a second attempt to have them narrow any boots shafts in need of such in the future. I do recommend that a clarification to their website for this service be made if needed. ________________________________________________________________________ This is an update to my initial post. On 9/14, I sent a letter to Boyer's detailing my experience with the company but did not ask for any specific action to be taken as I do not know where responsibility falls. I received an email from "Z" on 9/18 apologizing for the situation and explaining why it occurred. "Z" did note that the situation is not one the business wants for any of their customers and asked, in so many words, if I would be willing to give them a second chance for my business. Unfortunately I have sent the boots elsewhere for alterations and I can not cancel the work order as I have already paid for such. At the moment, I do not have any items in need of work but that may change rather soon. I am, however, deeply appreciative of the response to my efforts to apprise Boyer's of the situation.
