I needed a ride from U of M to Midland, Mi. after a 4 day stay starting in the ER. U of M called me a cab from the Ann Arbor Cab Company. I was wheeled out to the valet parking area to wait for my ride. The driver called me to say what time he should arrive to pick me up. He was spot on time for me. When I got in the backset the driver asked if I needed to eat, he would stop for me. I did eat just before leaving and was fine. As we left Ann Arbor he asked me at each rest area if I need to stop, I was fine. We talked back and forth the whole trip and I had fun talking to him. Wade & his team saved the day. I cannot recommend them enough - 10+ in my book. My son overslept & my phone calls were not waking him. Wade told his driver to bang on the house door until my son woke up, then he waited while my kid worked an additional 45 minutes to close up the house, plus Wade put up with me calling him at least 4 times, trying to decide whether my son would even make it to the airport. Wade's driver got him there safely, honestly, I think there must have been angels working with us, because it was a miracle that my son made his flight. My mother had to cancel a medical appointment because the cab driver refused to help her with her walker (which is not particularly heavy or awkward). When I heard about it later in the day, I decided to call around to find out whether there was a cab company that had drivers who could help her for future trips. This company was the first I called, and when I asked a neutral question, the immediate response was a hostile/defensive "Yes, I told the lady this morning our drivers won't lift anything for passengers." I guess I was not nice then, I said, "So you're the company that left my 93-year-old mother stranded when she needed to go to a doctor's appointment." I then got a long lecture about drivers being disabled or injuring themselves with heavy lifting (which is not an unreasonable concern), and then was told that no cab company would allow their drivers to lift a walker. At that point, I said "Well I guess she will have to use Uber" and the dispatcher told me to "F*** off" and hung up on me. read more

I was tasked with booking a cab for another person. When I answered a question about billing incorrectly because I was unsure of what was being asked the phone operator started literally screaming in my ear. I was then informed that the abusive operator's name is Wade and he is the business owner. Do not support this business. This man deserves no ones support and money. I hope they go out of business. I have made it my mission to ensure the owners verbal abuse is known throughout the community and the very large account that I work for that does business with him. I used this company to get from DTW into Ann Arbor. The man I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and helpful, but my positive experience ended there. The driver (let's call him "Bill") didn't get out to help with my luggage. I had to ask him to pop the trunk. At first he seemed friendly but from the time we pulled out of the taxi stand until we got to campus he talked non-stop. Talked is a bit of an overstatement--it was more of a droning mumble. I felt kind of sorry for Bill, and I don't say this to be mean, but he was quite possibly the most boring person I have ever met. He definitely had the highest concentration of boringness and talkativeness. Apparently working for Amazon.com meant that I care about computer hardware (I don't) and that I would be enthralled by Bill's deadpan recall of every computer he's owned, what he did to it, what computers his friends own, how he helped them, where he can get wireless signals in his cab, etc, etc, etc. 45 minutes of this. Also, his cab stunk to high heaven. I had to dry clean my clothes upon arrival. Also, he tried to overcharge me by $16. If you ignore this review and use Ann Arbor Taxi Transportation, you can get a flat rate of $50 from the airport. Bill tried to charge me the meter, which was almost $70. I had to ask him to call in to his boss to double check. I was very nice to Bill and patiently listened to his stories and even gave him a very generous tip in spite of everything, because I am a nice person, and there was no way to travel back in time and take another cab. But there's no reason anyone else should have to go through the same. read more

Again, like others have said, one star is too good. My wife had ordered their sedan service to pick up her and my daughter, drop my daughter off at school, and then take my wife onto the airport. Instead of a sedan, they sent a cab...no big deal at this point. The cab driver rang our bell, and shouted, "I''m here!" And got back in his cab. It took my wife a couple minutes to get our daughter situated, but she had her luggage ready at the door. She stuck her head out the door and asked the driver if he could help her with the luggage and she thought he began to back around to position the trunk better. After a couple minutes, she realized HE WAS GONE! She called him on the phone and he said "You were late and I'm not your butler, lady!" And hung up. She called him back, and basically started begging, because we live north of Dexter and there isn't another service to call on short notice, and he hung up again! She's now driving herself to the airport and is likely going to miss her flight. Nothing but one star reviews should be a warning to you. I wish we had looked here before booking. read more

I was in a spot and needed some help. I live west of Ann Arbor, in a rural area and needed to get to Dexter. It was night and I had no other choice than to try to get a taxi. When the dispatcher told me that they were only a city service, I asked if she knew any other company I could try, that I was in a bit of a predicament. She then said they would help me get to Dexter. The driver was prompt and friendly. He took me right where I needed to go, and waited to make sure I was safe until I got inside. I work at a hotel in the Ann Arbor area and called this company to book a ride for a guest to the airport. I was quoted a rate $20 higher than other transportation companies. The guy on the other end of the phone called me out about being disappointed with the price (he KNEW his ride was too expensive). I shared other prices and he became very defensive. The guest asked me to book the ride with this guest, so I did. A few hours later the guest asked me to call and cancel the ride because he had found a cheaper ride (on his own-without my help). I called to cancel and the same rude man yelled: WE ARE NEVER WORKING WITH YOUR HOTEL EVER AGAIN! NEVER CALL THIS NUMBER... and hung up. Do not spend your money with this company. They are rude. Our fraternity has been operating a chapter on the University of Michigan campus for 148 years. Regrettably, last Spring, we were compelled to suspend our undergraduate operations. "F*CK OFF AND DIE." Those are the words that I heard from a person I spoke to on the phone, after trying to get a cab from a noisy environment. I was so shocked by their rudeness and unprofessionalism, I was paralyzed. I have never felt so negatively about a business in my life. If I could give negative stars, I would. I've never been spoken to so rudely in my life and I've lived in Los Angeles and New York. I don't know if they think they are unaccountable to their clientele, but I will never, ever call them again. If there was a score of no stars this is how I would rate this company. Ann Arbor Taxi is a scam. It is not a legitimate taxi company. The car that picked me up had no identification number, no driver name, number or picture, and no meter. It was a rather shabby car. When I asked the driver about the meter, he flashed me his IPhone, which I could not see while he was driving or when I arrived. The driver charged me double the fare. For for a 2.5 mi ride, 7 minute wait and at total15 min ride I was charged $28.00. When I called Ann Arbor Taxi to ask for the details of their rates I was told: $3.50 flag rate, $2.75/mile and .40/min waiting time which for this ride should have been a fare of $13.90. The dispatcher would not address the issue of being charged twice the metered rate. He told me the drivers were independent contractors and hung up on me before I could ask him for the driver's contact information. I noticed that the driver had sent me the receipt I requested, but when I went to look for it, it was no longer there. But thankfully I will be able to find the charge on my credit card bill. All in all, Ann Arbor Taxi is a scam. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I needed a pick up in 2 1/2 hours and didn't hear back, no confirmation or anything until 15 minutes before my pick up time. By that time I obviously had to book a different taxi but again received nothing from this company confirming my order. When the driver finally called, I got disconnected from the cab driver then received a rude voicemail message from the cab company berating me for hanging up on the driver. Wow! I had told the driver before we got disconnected that I was not in need of his services. The operator taking the booking was rude and called me a "Bitch" and to "never call back here" when I had to change a reservation. I booked with them initially after doing a quick google and saw that they had several user reviews on google, and since most cab companies had three stars, I went with them. Had the pleasure of being honked at and flipped off by this cab. My offense, I wouldn't block the intersection on the green light when traffic was backed up. I thought, maybe I could call the guy, since the number is right on the side of the car. He called me something else and hung up on me. I later texted him, thinking maybe he had time to cool down from driving in traffic. No dice, he figured out some other insult. A truly lovely man that probably should not be on the road, much less driving a cab. I intend to avoid Ann Arbor Cab like the plague. I called Saturday to ask if I would need to book in advance to guarantee a cab for a 3 mile ride on Sunday morning (I needed to get to the MI Flyer downtown and didn't want to lug my baggage). They told me no need, "Just call us in the morning and we can usually have someone out within 20 minutes." Cool. So I call them in the morning about 40 minutes before I had to leave, this was at about 7am, and they tell me "We're all booked until 9." Are you kidding me? I could have booked the night before, but was told not to. Not to mention I just needed a 3 mile ride! After getting myself together, I found Amazing Blue Taxi. I also had a bad experience with them. Since they offer discount rate for UM staff/students, we made a reservation for a ride from Ann Arbor to DTW a week before our trip. The car never showed up and no one was answering the phone. After waiting in vain for about 20 minutes, we called Ann Arbor Blue Cab and had a pleasant ride. We were told that this company is not a licensed (or registered) cab company any more. I'm not surprised that many had worse experiences with them. I called to ask about utilizing a $39 UM faculty and staff rate that I found online. The person answered promptly and started to ask what time I would like to be picked up and what address I was at. Before I gave my address I said I wanted to inquire about the rate special and the guy cut me off saying that he can't give me one until he knew the address. So I gave him my address and he cut me off again and said he needed a cross street. I gave him one and that he abruptly said $45 is the rate. Once again, I tried to inquire about the $39 rate, in a very calm and polite voice. The guy rudely cut me off again and said that $45 is the discounted rate and the actual rate is $60, so that's all he can give me. I hesitated for a moment and just said "thank you but I think I'm ok." The guy, very rudely said, "Yeah, I think we're ok too" and hung up on me. The next text I get on my phone is a message reading "your # has been banned from receiving service. Please do not call again. Thank you." This company is one of the most ABSOLUTELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL companies I have ever dealt with. I feel as if I was polite and not rude in any way but this guy that answered the phone is a complete jerk for cutting off customers. He needs a serious attitude adjustment. Missed a bus and had no cash anyway, so I had to call a cab. I googled "taxi Ann Arbor" and Google gave me a list of options. I called Ann Arbor Cab because it had 3.3/5 stars of 47 reviews, compared to Yellow Cab with 2.6 stars, and the others which had no reviews. I said I needed a ride as soon as possible to catch a train and within minutes, the owner/driver arrived at my hotel. It was a simple ride in a decent vehicle. Nothing to complain about. I recently returned to Michigan and have found a great job. The only problem is that the last 2 miles are not reachable by bus so I use Ann Arbor Cab for rides to the closest bus stop when I get off work late at night. This is a company run and operated by real human beings who have gone out of their way to provide a service to me beyond that of a "business."
