Sitting in their lot because I came here to spend $50 on cleaning the interior of my car. The ladies working here pressed all the buttons in my car while it was running. They turned my spoiler up and parking break on. Now my car won't start! Why would you push all the buttons on the car?! read more

I've been here a couple times and it's a big waste of time, space, and money. They do a half ace job honestly. Asked for a really solid vac job and first thing I notice is a candy wrapper and crumpled receipt on the drivers side floor mat before even getting in. After getting in- paid $5 for them to clean cup holders and those were a minimum wage standard as well. I understand that they can't get all the dog hair so I'm not too upset that but it's really just laziness that happened. Waiting area is uncomfortable and this place really just isn't that comfortable. The options are difficult to read and are clearly set in place to nickel and dime customers. If there's any rich guys in town that wanna start a full service wash, they would certainly put this place out of business. My advice to potential customers, go to the car wash and hand some high school kid 30 bucks and tell them to detail it. read more

This was aggravating. I know cars are difficult to clean so I went for the top notch clean ($30) that includes a scent. No scent. Smelled even worse in there. To make it worse, they missed so much of the grime and crumbs and what not. Will not be recommending this place, nor going back anytime soon. read more

Took over 20 minutes for them to even start on car. Severely mismanaged! I say that because on the first nice day there are 2 kids working the entire place! What in the name of common sense does that make? I do hold this against the kids working I hold it against the managers who should have a clue on how to staff a full service car wash. 10 minutes later still waiting for them to work on my car. This could be the longest car wash in history! Yet another 10 minutes has gone by. Maybe the last time I give this place a chance. Car was pretty clean on the outside, although he pulled the vehicle out into the freezing cold so the dirty spots he needed to wipe off were frozen over by the time he started wiping. Also, vacuuming was poor and I had to wipe off several spots prior to leaving, with one of his towels. The glass with smeared on the inside as well. I am (was) a member of the monthly wash program at this place. I pay for the Number 6. Their best inside and out clean. Supposed to include wheel and tire shine etc. Last time I went I was so frustrated that I didn't return for a few months. Came back to give it another try.......will be cancelling! My windows are dirtier than when I went in, wheels not done, tires not done, paid extra to have mats cleaned, not done. Just frustrated that for a $40 car wash I can get a better clean at the gas station! read more

Bad review for Ankeny Auto Spa - customers beware Long story.... I recieved a gift card over a year back and never ended up using it until today just due to having two kids and a very busy lifestyle. I have called and tried to get in within a much more reasonable time period to gave them booked on any occasions i was available. Earlier in the week i decided to call and talked to a gentleman whom got me scheduled for today. GREAT! Ended up finding out in phone call that the prices have increased since my purchased giftcard but guy said he would honor the price and bring in reciept for his manager. Np - i can understand that. Get there to have a woman tell me that she cannot override the price and i will have to pay the difference, i tell her the guy said he would honor it, her response well he is that the manager and neither and i and she said no. Im frustrated by this point and avout to walk out, she askes if she can see the van and call her manager amd i tell her yes and tell her where it is parked. Before i went i stopped at car wash and used the vacuum and did a surface clean on carpets, stowed my second and third row to make it easier for them so i knew the standings of my vehicle amd it was not that bad - it did have some dog hair and human hair and sand/dirt that the surface vacuum did not pick up but overall it was pretty damn good. She returns from seeing the van and responds that she will override the price and asked if the back seats need scrubbed. I told her they where leather and need a wipe down but no scrubbing. She said they can condition those seats-ok great, thank you. Also says she doesnt think they cam get all the pet hair out (there was not that much in there but im too frustrated to argue and want this whole thing done)Tells me it will be done by 4-5 pm. Ok give me a call and i will head back up here as i dont have any other transportation. I dropped it off at 12:15pm. At 1:50 pm i get a phone call- bearly miss the call and listened to voicemail- they cant get my car to stay running... WHAT! -chryslers have a secuirty measure on ignition that if it is not pressed long enough then it will not stay running when trying to place it in gear. It needs to be pressed for more then .25 seconds to bypass this feature. I give them a call vack and leave a message about said feature and how to avoid the issue all together. No call back so i walkes back up to the place to make sure they had it figured out. Car was moved and washed to i spoke with the guy cleaning it. When asking how much longer he estimates He said that he only had an hour and a half left so he didnt thinknit would be done today... i said it wasnt that dirty and he responded that it is alot better than others he has seen and he would try to get as much done as he could. I asked if i could get an update when he got off on where it stood so i can figure out daycare situations since i have kids i was supposed to pick up after car was done, he said that would work... i go on my way.... 4 oclock rolls by and no phone call... then 4:30 and nothing. I called at 4:45 and talk with someone to ask where my car is sitting at and he says its done amd waiting-ok great i will head that direction. I get the key and they dont say anytging to me other than have a good easter. I get back and here is tge standing of my car...... Under my seats not vacuumed. Cup holders in front still has stuck grim in there. Second and third seats never unstowed, vacuumed or conditioned. Still some sand on now wet carpet. They selling point of hand drying every vehicle- i have spots drips and streaks on my rear and sides of vehicle. I am NOT a happy customer from the first time i called just due to inconvenience but it could have been resolved if my car was completly done like it was stated. The manager was already unhappy with the idea of overriding price so know complaining to store will do NOTHING. I will not go back and plan to share the stories so others do not go there or know what they r getting involved with. read more

i could have done better with half the cost and 1hr of my time. was supposed to have included exterior & interior clean, vacuum, and "aroma therapy". the only thing they actually did was run it through the clothe wash. dash and console was NOT cleaned AT ALL, they half-assed the vacuum job, and i don't know what an aroma therapy is but my vehicle had NO smell to it at all. I will NOT go back and will advise everyone i know to NEVER take their vehicle there. if i paid more than the $8 dollars i paid on a livingsocial deal i'd demand a refund. not worth my time. but it IS worth my time to make sure i tell everyone i know and cause them to lose potential profits. read more

I paid $18.00 for a car wash and interior wipe down with a strawberry scent. The only difference in my car after the "service" is the nasty strawberry-ish scent that gives me a headache. The outside is streaky, there are still bugs all over my car, my windshield looks like it was wiped down with tissues, and the inside was not touched. The service was despicable, I could have done 150% better in 30 minutes less time than it took there. I needed a quick but efficient wash before I started my busy week and I am more than disappointed with the service I received at Ankeny Auto Spa. $16.00 for a full service wash. Only two cars ahead of me and it took 15 minutes to get my car in the wash. Their equipment appears to be original when they opened 20 years ago. It's wore out. Air blower is their for effect only as it doesn't dry anything. Under staffed with teenagers only. No adults in sight. After my car went thru aging equipment the kid drove it outside in the sun and allowed it to air dry while he worked on other vehicles. 5-10 minutes go by while he's alone and working other vehicles. He finally half asses wiping my windows then wipes down door jams on one side only. Finally the overworked kid says he's all done. Never going back. read more

I went there thinking this looks to be a good Mom and Pops car wash. What a disappointment. ALL 4 Wheels still dirty. Bugs still on grill and bumper and mirrors. We specifically asked for something with minimal scent, and they put the most disgusting smell in the car that is STILL THERE four months later. I left my windows open for a week and couldn't drive it because the smell was so strong. Also, they called and told us to come pick it up, and it wasn't actually ready yet. Avoid Ankeny Auto Spa car wash. I was a monthly subscriber to for their car wash. On 3/21/19 I was in to get my Durango washed. Noticed later that night that my rear wiper was missing. I went back to the car wash on 3/22 to report this. The gentleman at the counter wanted to argue with me stating that the brushes were not strong enough to break a wiper off. As I talked to this guy, Leland walked up and said yes I dried your car last night and noticed the missing wiper but did not think about it. Leland and I proceeded to walk through the car wash bay and lo and behold found my wiper on the floor! Filled out an incident report and was told the owner (Carolyn Eyerly) was out but would call me on Monday (3/25). Monday came and went. Week came and went. No phone call. I called back on Monday 4/1 and was told that Carolyn was not in but the person who answered the phone collected my information and said she would text Carolyn (owner). It is now Wednesday 4/3. I will not be coming back. I will also be disputing charges for the car wash membership on credit card. I understand that things happen, but it is so poor customer service to just ignore customers. read more

The worst wash I have ever had... Just moved here and had a coupon for $4. I decided to have the $25 wash so with coupon it was $21. I gave $4. back to them on my credir card as a tip. Im pretty sure they never get a $4 tip. Go out to my car and ask them to wipe off some ice cream spots on the console. That would cost me an "extra" charge. I have been a monthly member for years with their premiere unlimited wash package. I leave disappointed every time I set foot in the place. Apparently I need to learn my lesson and take my business elsewhere. The fact remains there is no place that does what they do in Ankeny. The funny part is they know me when I come in, they know my wash, they know my car scent and they know from experience all the things they do wrong. I have had multiple chats with the owner and of course in the moment she agrees and promises to change the behavior and training and then things go right back to subpar normal. She appears to be more absent then present at a business that could be very profitable if energy and time were spent to ensure consistent training and procedure were followed to ensure a quality result. I spend more time after the crew is done wiping down missed areas of dirt and unfinished areas such as the front bumper and rear lift gate. The two areas they have to know their antiquated car wash misses each and every time and yet they fail most times to even wipe them down. The most troubling thing about it is the obvious lack of maintenance. I own a black truck and the thing leaves every time with more scratches than it had before it was washed. I have been holding my tongue for far to long and this mornings wash was just one of the worst thus far. I really like my cars clean and nice and Ankeny Auto Spa just can't seem to get it right. I will be discontinuing the nearly $100/mo. I spend for my two vehicles. I won't throw my hard earned money at a poorly run business any longer. Really sad cuz I love the concept. read more
