Dr Infernuso and his staff were above and beyond any veteranian office I have encountered including AMC, Blue Pearl and Bond Vet. He was extremely competent and thorough. If I were not leaving the area, I would travel from Brooklyn to get his services over what is offered in the city. Dr Infernuso thank you for your kindness.

Home the night of surgery !

Our dog Bruce had his TPLO procedure with Dr. Infernuso and his team on April 4th, 2025. A month out from surgery now, Bruce is doing great, and we could not be more grateful and impressed with Dr. Infernuso and his team. Every question and concern we have is always promptly answered, the entire staff is friendly and helpful, and Dr. Infernuso is incredibly kind, calm, knowledgeable and skillful. For a very stressful, scary experience, ASC Oceanside helped make us comfortable and confident every step of the way. Highly, highly recommend Dr. Infernuso and his team!!

Non of us dog owners want to come here because of what it means. Our 5 year old Golden needed TPLO surgery and we are so happy we came here. First and foremost the people who work here are amazing and kind it made the process a lot easier. Our Vet Dr. Jin is highly recommended. Before the surgery I was looking it up online and what I saw was not a pretty sight but Bissli cut is almost invisible with very minimal swelling. My hope is to never need to go through this again but it's comforting to know they are here just in case.

Highly recommend Dr. Infernuso & his team at the Animal Surgical Center. This Oceanside Office is beyond beautiful! I went here after I was nervous a year after my dog's surgery. The office staff are super kind and accommodating especially because my dog was a bit more reactive due to her pain. I will always recommend Dr Infernuso & the Animal Surgical Center for any surgical needs!

Dr. Infernuso absolutely nominated surgeon, who truly dedicates himself to his loving animals. Besides his professionalism and the level of his achievements, he is down to earth, full of empathy and compassion. You leave the place late night - he is there , you come back the following morning - he is there...May the god give him perfect health, emotional stability to continue his wonderful journey of life- save our lovely animals. The surgical center itself, is far the best experience I had with a veterinary team.

    Our beloved Filbert ❤️

I originally posted this late last year but immediately removed it out of respect for my boyfriend, who was looking for a new job... I wish I could give this place negative stars because they're the absolute worst. Because of this horrible place, instead of celebrating one year since bringing our sweet Filbert home, we've been mourning the loss of him for the past 6.5 months. My boyfriend worked there and brought him in because we knew he'd swallowed something. Despite Infernuso stating that same night that he "would cut this" first thing the next morning, there was nothing but gross negligence and miscommunication all around. The offsite X-ray technician claimed there was no obstruction (B.S., because our kitty vomited 10 times in one day and wouldn't eat!), reception either wasn't kept in the loop or was told the wrong thing and no one ever took any MRIs. Once they finally decided to do the surgery on Filbert two days later, no one did bloodwork beforehand and he went into cardiac arrest. My boyfriend got a call and we raced to ASC immediately. They got him back after several rounds of CPR, but he was unconscious and on multiple machines and tubes, which was horrible to see. Filbert never regained consciousness. We were there for a few hours and I didn't want to leave, but my boyfriend was going on 24+ hours awake and had to get us home safely. When we were in the car for maybe 15 minutes, he got another call from ASC. Filbert's heart stopped again, but this time, CPR didn't get him back. He was gone at only 13 months old and our hearts were (and still are) broken. It's still devastating to this day, but to add insult to injury, Infernuso then had the nerve to say he DIDN'T see any obstruction and that something else must have been going on. This was obviously to cover his ass and his business since that was a complete 180 from what he'd said the night Filbert was brought in. Another doctor also texted my boyfriend a photo of the obstruction in Filbert's stomach after they did a postmortem - two of his hair ties knotted together. There's more to this place that's unrelated to what happened to our sweet little Filly; my boyfriend was subjected to a hostile workplace nearly the entire time he worked there (with nothing coming out of it) and his manager scheduled him to work on a day he said from day one he had a prior obligation for, which she completely ignored and ended up letting him go for not showing up on that day. But the worst thing was losing Filbert due to unbelievable, unacceptable, cruel and indifferent negligence. I don't want his death to go in vain. Filbert mattered. He was loved. We loved him and my mother loved him. He had an older feline brother who loved him and enjoyed playing with him. He's sorely missed and always will be. I have no doubt that if my boyfriend had taken him to VCA, where he previously worked, Filbert would still be alive today. If you love your pets, avoid ASC Oceanside like the plague. Take them somewhere else so you can keep them in your family for years to come and not have them tragically taken away like Filbert was from us.

Zesty a 9yr old shitzhu available for adoption at Christina's Animal Safe Haven Inc

Omg I love Dr Infernuso and his . Zesty my foster pup was recently here and had mammary tumor removed and she's been recovering amazing! Thank you Dr Infernuso and your staff for taking such amazing care of this special blind little shitzhu

If I could give a rating higher than a 5-star, I would. Dr. Infernuso, Dr. Jin, Dr. Kamran and staff were amazing. From the moment I walked in the door the entire staff could not have been more helpful. Duke, my golden retriever, injured his shoulder. I had to leave him there for X-rays. As soon as Duke was ready to be picked up, I was sent an email with a picture of him letting me know Duke was okay and ready to be picked up. Medication was prescribed and the staff reached out to me checking in on Duke to see how he was doing! Warmed my heart for sure! I highly recommend ASC!

This is my Dolly one day after Dr Tomas Infernuso saved her by doing an emergency splenectomy.
    Timothy F.

My Dolly(black Labrador mix) was diagnosed by ultrasound to have a splenic mass that was starting to rupture. Along with other masses. I called the hospital and after the receptionist spoke with Dr. Infernuso he said to rush her rigjt in. He went over everything and surgery was done. I received phone calls right before her surgery and after. I also received an update early the next morning. They send me pictures of Dolly by text after surgery and the next morning. It meant so much to see the pictures of Dolly awake and looking good. I picked her up the next day and was given a folder with instructions on her home care and medication schedule.once again The surgery center and Dr. Infernuso has been there for us. Thank you for saving our Dolly. I would like to thank everyone I came in contact with at the center. Everyone couldn't have been nicer. Special thanks first to Dr Infernuso and to Sam the tech for her expertise at setting Dolly up with her i.v. And to Maria for explaining everything about her discharge instructions and for her compassion. Also to all the people whose names I might have missed Thank you ‍!!!

Spending time with Hudson post op
    Autumn F.

The level of care, knowledge, attention to detail and overall love for animals is unmatched. My 5 month old chocolate lab (Hudson) started limping over 3 weeks ago. After his initial vet missed a diagnosis of OCD (a genetic disorder that impacts their shoulders, walking and causes great pain, etc) we sent Hudson's imaging to Dr. Infernuso. Immediately he diagnosed Hudson's condition and talked me through the surgery that would put Hudson on a road of repair and recovery. I drove 2 hours out to ASC Oceanside for the operation. Being nervous and emotionally a wreck Dr. Infernuso and his team allowed me to stay around for as long as I needed. Dr. Infernuso called me himself immediately after the surgery and allowed me to come in and see Hudson post op. They have staff 24 hours. just watching them interact with other dogs was heartwarming. Upon picking Hudson up the next day, they walked me through all the meds and care Hudson would need post op. They helped me get him into my car and made themselves available for any and all questions I had. Hudson is now on the road to recovery and I feel so much better about what's next.... His left shoulder needs same procedure in 2 months! As I spent time in their waiting area, I saw a standard of care for all that walked in as well as attention to detail about cleanliness I have never seen in any animal care center. Take the drive. Take the time.... Take your pet baby to Dr. Infernuso and his team. You will not regret that you did!

Our experience with ASC and Dr. Infernuso/staff have been fabulous! They were polite, courteous, and always available to answer any/all questions we had. There was no guarantee that our dog's orthopedic issue would be 100% resolved, but due to their amazing work the bone healed properly and my puppy is back to his normal self. Dr. Infernuso even contacted us late into the evenings on his personal time to answer questions/concerns that we had!

Despite being fully booked for the day, they managed to squeeze us in the same day (at 5pm!) when my grandma's senior cat started straining in the litter box and peeing a little blood. The front desk here was so compassionate and accommodating - they understood it was urgent, while all other vets told us the earliest they could get us in was the next morning. Dr. Popa was beyond amazing and patient. She took her time to ask questions, go over the medical history, and explain everything clearly without ever rushing. You can just tell she loves animals and puts her heart into her work. Her compassion and calm demeanor instantly put me at ease. Their prices are also very fair, which says a lot about their values. All other places I called wanted to charge an astronomical amount. You can tell they really care about helping pets more than anything else. I'm so grateful we found Dr. Popa and her wonderful team. They truly go above and beyond, and we'll be clients for life!!

I called to make an appointment, the receptionist that answered the phone did seem a little rude, as if she was trying to rush me off the phone. That kinda made me want to find another place instead, but they were the cheapest price for a checkup compared to other vets in my area. So I still went and they were friendlier in person. The place is pretty small, but the staff there was really nice, the doctor was amazing with my dog and treated the problem right away! She didn't try to upcharge me or push unnecessary tests for more money. I will most likely make this place my new regular vet for my dog!

My husband dropped her off at 8:30AM, I get a text saying she is recovering around 2PM. 15 mins later my husband calls me frantically saying they are doing CPR on Peaches. I'm confused now since I recieved a text saying shes recovering. I call the vet and the receptionist also says they are doing CPR. I ask to speak to the vet, and the vet asks if I would like her to continue CPR. She informed me that have been doing CPR for 25 mins, at this point I realize Peaches is dead and I tell them to stop CPR. I asked why this happened, the vet responds with because shes a brachycephalic dog. My husband works only two blocks from me so we both leave work and head to the vet together. I'm crying my eyes out because Peaches was my first child, my husband is distraught but has to keep it together since we are driving. Peaches had no other health issues besides constipation, she should not have died. We get to the vet, the receptionist says sorry for your loss and points us to a room where they had Peaches body. The vet does not come to us at any point to say she is sorry or to go over the events as to what lead to Peaches untimely death. I shouldn't have lost my little girl. She went in for a simple procedure. This practice has no compassion and its all a money making business. See the attached photos to this review, the text message saying she is recovering (clearly she never recovered so it was misleading), the bill (for the enema which I have no idea if they did and the charge for CPR), and a picture of Peaches. I purchased her from a reputable breeder specifically so that she would not have any breathing issues. So in short, if you plan to take your pet there for a procedure that requires anesthesia, think again. You may leave with a dead body instead.

Dr. Lopez was the kind, compassionate human being who soothed my soul in making this decision and gave my beloved 17+ yr old little doggie a gentle dignified end to his distress. Dr. Lopez explained the x-rays & bloodwork that could be done (at a substantial cost) but was gentle in letting us know that for a dog of this age & degree of heart issues this won't be a real fix. In fact, the stress of it all could prove too much on him. A lesser man would have put potential dollars compassion for animals & pushed a pet owner desperate to take her "baby" home towards that unnecessary route. I am so thankful a friend recommended Assisi to me last year when my little guy was ill. She was also the owner of 2 elderly dogs & couldn't speak highly enough about their care at Assisi. Last year we saw a female Dr., whose name escapes me & we were pleased with her thoroughness & care. Today though was the true test in kindness & professionalism. We were even given a beautiful remembrance of our sweet little boy in the form of a plaster imprint of his paws w a beautiful poem & a vial containing a bit of his fur. I have used other vets & this is beyond a doubt the best I have experienced. Do yourself & your pet a favor & visit Dr. Lopez at Assisi.
