Even though we still don't have a definitive answer to my dog Ricos issue, I wanted to take a moment to thank and commend the entire staff at Animal Surgical Center for truly being in a different class of care, customer service and kindness. I am not easy to impress, and I was blown away today by the attention to detail and follow through in which they treated me and my dog Rico. Nice staff, clean facility. My dog was referred to see a surgeon there because of her hip. I had an 11a appointment I arrived 30 minutes early was checked in and taken in less than 5 minutes after sitting. The assistant was so nice and the doctor was very caring and gentle with my dog. I had xrays done it was explained my dog and a fractured hip and a torn ACL. I was told to leave her hip alone but recommended surgery on her knee. If the cost was to high for me they can try lazer therapy and will to work around the time I can bring my dog in because of my work schedule. Very caring and kind and understanding. read more

My dog, Saint, needs a TPLO surgery to repair a torn CCL. My wife and I didn't want to go to our regular vet for a few different reasons. I called on Wednesday (11/5) and wanted the surgery done quickly as my pup is in pain and struggling to move around due to his recent injury. The woman who answered the phone, Lisa, couldn't have been more professional and compassionate. As soon as we spoke for a minute or so, I knew this was the place to get it done. Compassionate, knowledgeable and very welcoming. They were able to schedule me in for this Friday (11/7). We were beyond happy. We have heard nothing but wonderful things about Animal Surgical Center, their staff, and Dr. Infernuso. Non of us dog owners want to come here because of what it means. Our 5 year old Golden needed TPLO surgery and we are so happy we came here. First and foremost the people who work here are amazing and kind it made the process a lot easier. Our Vet Dr. Jin is highly recommended. Before the surgery I was looking it up online and what I saw was not a pretty sight but Bissli cut is almost invisible with very minimal swelling. I originally posted this late last year but immediately removed it out of respect for my boyfriend, who was looking for a new job... I wish I could give this place negative stars because they're the absolute worst. Because of this horrible place, instead of celebrating one year since bringing our sweet Filbert home, we've been mourning the loss of him for the past 6.5 months. My boyfriend worked there and brought him in because we knew he'd swallowed something. Despite Infernuso stating that same night that he "would cut this" first thing the next morning, there was nothing but gross negligence and miscommunication all around. The offsite X-ray technician claimed there was no obstruction (B.S., because our kitty vomited 10 times in one day and wouldn't eat!), reception either wasn't kept in the loop or was told the wrong thing and no one ever took any MRIs. Once they finally decided to do the surgery on Filbert two days later, no one did bloodwork beforehand and he went into cardiac arrest. My boyfriend got a call and we raced to ASC immediately. They got him back after several rounds of CPR, but he was unconscious and on multiple machines and tubes, which was horrible to see. Filbert never regained consciousness. We were there for a few hours and I didn't want to leave, but my boyfriend was going on 24+ hours awake and had to get us home safely. When we were in the car for maybe 15 minutes, he got another call from ASC. Filbert's heart stopped again, but this time, CPR didn't get him back. He was gone at only 13 months old and our hearts were (and still are) broken. It's still devastating to this day, but to add insult to injury, Infernuso then had the nerve to say he DIDN'T see any obstruction and that something else must have been going on. This was obviously to cover his ass and his business since that was a complete 180 from what he'd said the night Filbert was brought in. Another doctor also texted my boyfriend a photo of the obstruction in Filbert's stomach after they did a postmortem - two of his hair ties knotted together. There's more to this place that's unrelated to what happened to our sweet little Filly; my boyfriend was subjected to a hostile workplace nearly the entire time he worked there (with nothing coming out of it) and his manager scheduled him to work on a day he said from day one he had a prior obligation for, which she completely ignored and ended up letting him go for not showing up on that day. But the worst thing was losing Filbert due to unbelievable, unacceptable, cruel and indifferent negligence. I don't want his death to go in vain. Filbert mattered. He was loved. We loved him and my mother loved him. He had an older feline brother who loved him and enjoyed playing with him. He's sorely missed and always will be. I have no doubt that if my boyfriend had taken him to VCA, where he previously worked, Filbert would still be alive today. If you love your pets, avoid ASC Oceanside like the plague. Take them somewhere else so you can keep them in your family for years to come and not have them tragically taken away like Filbert was from us. read more

My Dolly(black Labrador mix) was diagnosed by ultrasound to have a splenic mass that was starting to rupture. Along with other masses. I called the hospital and after the receptionist spoke with Dr. Infernuso he said to rush her rigjt in. He went over everything and surgery was done. I received phone calls right before her surgery and after. I also received an update early the next morning. They send me pictures of Dolly by text after surgery and the next morning. It meant so much to see the pictures of Dolly awake and looking good. I picked her up the next day and was given a folder with instructions on her home care and medication schedule.once again The surgery center and Dr. Infernuso has been there for us. The level of care, knowledge, attention to detail and overall love for animals is unmatched. My 5 month old chocolate lab (Hudson) started limping over 3 weeks ago. After his initial vet missed a diagnosis of OCD (a genetic disorder that impacts their shoulders, walking and causes great pain, etc) we sent Hudson's imaging to Dr. Infernuso. Immediately he diagnosed Hudson's condition and talked me through the surgery that would put Hudson on a road of repair and recovery. I drove 2 hours out to ASC Oceanside for the operation. Being nervous and emotionally a wreck Dr. Infernuso and his team allowed me to stay around for as long as I needed. Dr. Infernuso called me himself immediately after the surgery and allowed me to come in and see Hudson post op. They have staff 24 hours. just watching them interact with other dogs was heartwarming. Upon picking Hudson up the next day, they walked me through all the meds and care Hudson would need post op. They helped me get him into my car and made themselves available for any and all questions I had. Hudson is now on the road to recovery and I feel so much better about what's next.... His left shoulder needs same procedure in 2 months! i can't say enough about Dr. Infernuso (Animal Surgical Center) and his incredible staff! My dog had a very serious accident last week! She had to be brought to the UrgiVet in Oceanside to be stablized...They immediately noticed some injuries that could possibly need more intervention than what they could provide and contacted ASC (Dr. Infernuso) who immediately accepted her transfer, having previously been a patient at his hospital! The care that she received, by every single person she came in contact with, was incredible! He immediately jumped in and evaluated her and treated her wounds and kept her overnight to monitor her! WE received calls at midnight and early in the A.M. along with pictures of our baby to show us how she was improving throughout the night...When we picked her up, we were sent home with pain meds and antibiotics...Her recovery has been amazing and despite her great recovery, Dr. Infernuso set up additional visits to ensure a continued recovery! Not only did she receive exemplary care but he was so kind to provide his professional services without breaking the bank!!! This medical facility is probably the most immaculate facility I've ever been in...Having been there for both elective surgery and now emergency care, I HIGHLY recommend this hospital! I run a cat shelter on Long Island and we frequently pull cats from municipal shelters with many of them needing surgery. I can not say enough great things about everyone at the Oceanside location. We brought dog there after he degloved his paw back in February. The staff was knowledgable, caring, compassionate. We got there late on a Sunday and were greeted by the surgeon who was amazing. She reasurred use so many times that our little guy would be fine. They advised us that the bandage would need to be changed every 4-5 days until his wound which was down to the bone was healed. We traveled over 1 hour to get to there facility so they said we could take him to our local vet to have the bandages changed. My poor dog was traumatized when I took him the the local vet and they couldn't even sedate the dog long enough to change the bandage.After the terrible experience at our vet, we decided to travel to Oceanside every 4 days to have the little man bandage changed and I don't regret it! They were able to change his bandage without having to sedate him. Not only did we feel comfortable but more importantly my little guy felt comfortable. You can tell as soon as you walk in the door that the staff all love what they do. Highly Highly recommend!!!! read more

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Dr Infernuso's amazing team recently saved my senior cat's life, when he had a blocked bile duct from gallstones. I was preparing to say goodbye, but instead, Oliver is home and recovering. Just an incredible team of surgeons, techs, assistants, front desk staff- everyone! We were kept informed of everything going on, and sent pictures of him as he was recovering, during the post op days. What a special group of people! Awful experience....our dog had CCL surgery June 2023..upon pick up in East Meadow there was a fight in the parking lot with police and ambulances everywhere so staff had families traipsing through back door...our dog had major problems with sutures that never dissolved...went back asking for antibiotics and was told we didn't need any,,,,next day my own vet said he needed 2 weeks of high dose antibiotics.. Fast forward to New Years Eve I noticed a sore in incision site...I sent pictures to Infernuso who told me I was worrying too much and not to do anything...again my own vet immediately gave my dog high doses of antibiotics. My dog ended up needing plate removal surgery which I had done in Riverhead....my dogs plate and screws had massive infection. I asked Infernuso for a credit on my account as twice his negligence could have cost my dog his life...he told me I was lucky I had the original surgery at the price I did...and when I texted New Years eve he said I was lucky he called me on his day off...so arrogant. This is why DrPardo is suing him...I reported him to the state and the BBB.... read more

My dog Max had a huge cancerous tumor on his leg. Dr. Infernuso operated and was able to remove the vast majority of the tumor, with the remainder treated by an oncologist. The care for Max, before, during and after the procedure and throughout the follow up period has been absolutely stellar!!! I don't know how to express how Dr. Infernuso's confidence and skill so relieved me from the anxiety I was feeling before our first consultation. If your pup needs surgery this is the place to go. The docs at ASC care about your pup, and I felt that this was their driving force over and above anything else. Their fees are very fair and certainly well earned. I was very disappointed by my recent experience with animal surgical center's emergency care. I had called because my kitten was poisoned and I needed emergency help. They told me they couldn't see my pet, because they had more seriously ill pets and the person who answered the phone told me that the damage was already done for my kitten and there wasn't anything they could do. After being momentarily devastated by that comment, I called the animal poison control who informed me that the person who told me that was grossly miseducated about animal toxicity. I can't believe the receptionist or whomever answered the phone would dispense such a grave prognosis to justify not brining able to see an animal in crisis or that they would be comparing severity of pet emergencies without even seeing my kitten. I think when someone is calling in a state of panic, and you can't help, the professional thing would be to refer to some place that could and maybe not make things worst by telling someone there's not much left to do. I was devastated and felt totally dejected by the lack of hope instilled in this exchange. I think if you are in need of an urgent pet care, this would not be the place I would recommend under the circumstances. read more
