Super helpful and incredibly accommodating staff. On my way home from work, I witnessed a kitten get hit by a car on Riverside Drive. He was helplessly gliding across the road, and when I picked him up, I realized both of his legs were broken. I called several veterinarians in the area, but no one was able to take him in. When I called this resource center, they immediately told me to bring the kitten over. I was in shock and full panic, but they reassured me that he would get the help he needed. Their kindness, compassion, and willingness to act made all the difference. I am so grateful this place exists. Thank you!

I had a really wonderful adoption experience with ARC. I did a foster to adoption between xmas & new years. I had the unfortunate luck of falling in love with a dog right before Xmas. Due to the holding period and the holidays it felt like an eternity before I could take him home, but they took pitty on me and allowed me to come hang out with him for a little bit every day. The day he went home with me he started to whimper for me when they brought him to the lobby, we felt sort of connected. His new home came with cats, so that's where the fostering came in. Thankfully he was a PERFECT GENTLEMAN with the kitties. We had 30 days to figure life out and if we wanted to make the foster permanent, it took 4. He is an absolute nut. I ADORE HIM. I thought my other dog was going to be so happy to have a buddy, it's a work in progress. But it is a sweet progress! The staff was very kind and very helpful. I was there daily and got to see the interacting with a lot of people under a lot of circumstances and they were always positive and encouraging. The facility is relatively new I think? It is a nice set up, like I said, I was there frequently for about a week and the animals seemed cared for and well maintained. I liked their setup. I'd adopt from here again. I'd recommend it to a friend as a great place to go to adopt.

I came to turn in a kitten I found under my car at work and told them that I unfortunately could not foster the kitten because I have 3 large cats in a small 1 bedroom apartment. The kitten was not well and so one girl told me that they will take him and treat him and put him up for adoption since he was a kitten. Then shortly after another girl came out and told me they would treat him and put him back where they found him. I work in an area where there is ALOT of vehicles near the highway and little to no shade and it's been 95-100 degree weather these days. I left in tears and cried my whole way home feeling like I left him to die. The switch up was crazy and very stressful. The thought of him being back in that hot weather was just terrible. When I found him his eye was messed up and he had burnt little paws and a burnt face from being on the hot asphalt for who knows how long. If someone can please go here to adopt. I hope they were just using this as a tactic to get people to foster but even then that was absolutely a terrible experience. Kitten looks about 5-6 months old

Fostered and adopted a kitten through them and every part of the process was easy and showed their care for the animals. Great staff, straightforward processes. The only thing I'd change is they have a small waiting room -- but it is filled with kittens so no real complaints if you are easily distracted by furry cuteness.

The shelter is great! I adopted my dog back in December and they were great the shelter was as clean as it could be considering dogs are dirty, but the staff was friendly and the adoption process was very easy and my little girl is doing great! They let us meet whatever dog we wanted and we adopted during one of the clear the shelter events so it was low cost adoptions.

She's a little tan one licking my Labrador, we couldn't have asked for a better fit for our family. She's absolutely perfect.

Everyone is helpful and they care about the pets and try to get them adopted or fostered.

I am SO glad I came to this animal shelter to adopt! This experience was honestly so good. I went…read moreto Rancho's animal shelter to adopt but the dogs I was interested in were no longer there. While the facility did look clean, my goodness, it smelled so bad. So I came to this animal shelter on a whim and the building is so nice. I was helped immediately, everyone was friendly, and I went to go look around at the dogs. I found a dog I was interested in but was on a hold. I was told that once the dog is no longer on the hold, I could call and set up an appointment for a meet and greet. Well, my first time at this shelter was on Wednesday, the dog was no longer on the hold today (Saturday) so I made sure to call and make an appointment for a Meet and Greet. The lady told me she had times available same day and I was able to meet the dog a few hours after making the phone call. I came in, I was helped promptly. And I got to meet the dog. I asked the worker if I would be able to walk the dog. It was a little misty outside so she gave me a jacket to give the dog and the staff member was with me outside with the dog and she was so friendly. Once I was done, I let the staff member know I wanted to adopt and she let me sit with the dog a little longer while she got the paperwork ready for me. The fee was not bad at all because it included the adoption fee, vaccines, check up with vet, pet insurance for a month, neuter, and microchip! Once I completed all the paperwork, I was given all the forms in a nice little folder and a bunch of flyers and coupons. I was also given a goody bag and a variety of blankets to choose from. I wish I remembered the lady that helped me because I truly feel like she made this experience extra special. She set up his neuter appointment so I haven't gotten a chance to take him home yet, but I'll be able to after he's neutered. I am really happy with my experience at this animal shelter and I'll definitely be referring friends and family to come adopt here!

Absolutely disgusted with this place after a friend's experience today…read more She found two beautiful kittens (strays) but one was in serious distress. She took them to the Upland Animal shelter thinking someone would help this poor baby. Instead she was met with dismissiveness and attitude being told by employees she could just wait for the cops since it was already close to closing. One wouldn't even look at her, just kept walking to her car. While I understand procedures and hours of operation, this is NO WAY to treat someone who's trying to help little creatures who cannot help themselves especially with the heat wave we're experiencing in Upland this week. Please keep this in mind when thinking of donating to this place. Disgraceful.

It seems like one of the nicer shelters in the area, but I had a very bizarre experience that…read moreexposed the staff to be extremely incompetent. In summary, they are punishing adopters for deficiencies on their end. They have a SECRET policy that is completely at odds with virtually every other shelter & rescue. They ban people who return the dogs due to circumstances that the shelter should be resolving or at least helping to resolve. AND they verbally, and in writing, assure you it's completely fine to return the dog. AND they're extremely unknowledgeable, unhelpful, and uninterested in helping or learning. The vast majority of shelters and rescues offer & advocate temporary fostering and foster-to-adopt. Not only does the Norco shelter not offer that, but they will ban you from adopting again if you return a pet! They give you no warning whatsoever, and the paperwork and what they say both assure you there is zero problem with returning a pet. I adopted a dog who had a significant food sensitivity and covered my home with poop. I spent all night cleaning, brought him to the shelter for advice the next day, and they were not able to solve the problem. So I returned the dog after they verbally assured me it was totally fine to do so. I am extremely mentally strong, but that dog was such a sweetheart. The most cheerful, loving, energetic companion who wanted little else than to be near me. Having to give him up broke me. I spent the next week researching, trying to figure out how to resolve the problem. I could not have done that if I were spending all my time cleaning up after the dog. I learned a lot of things they should have known and advised me on. They are the ones who are being paid to take care of animals for a living. I found a solution to every problem, returned the next week to get my dog back, and they told me I'm banned because I returned him. This was my first dog during my adult life. The information pamphlet I was given is mostly useless. I did not get important beginner tips, such as food tips and "Don't let them wander the house until they're potty trained. Kennel training is essential, not abusive. Puppies need to be taken outside for potty breaks much more often than adult dogs. Etc." They set me up for failure, then punished me for failing. One thing I figured out on my own is that there are problematic ingredients in the kibble I fed the dog. The shelter feeds all the dogs the same kibble. They should and could be giving adopters a printout of the brand and ingredients, and advising that if you feed them something else, it could cause significant stomach upset. They should be the ones learning about dog food ingredients and advising adopters which ones are the most likely to cause problems. I knew nothing about dog food and what they can/can't tolerate, and now it appears that I know more than any of the shelter employees. It shouldn't be adopters' burden to test a bunch of different dog foods & ingredients while it's causing their dog severe problems. One of the solutions I mentioned to them was FMT (fecal microbiota transplant). Apparently, this was shocking & appalling to them. They were not only completely ignorant about it, but they considered it to be animal abuse, and cited my mention of it as one reason they would not give my dog back. The first time I mentioned it to them, I urged them to discuss it with their vet. Apparently they opted to stick with their own ignorance. People who react that way to a completely legitimate treatment that they're ignorant about should not be taking care of animals, or be in any position of authority. You can literally go online and buy animal poop from a major US company specifically for FMT, and pet insurance will cover it. I am fighting so hard not to use harsh language. The level of incompetence they've displayed is insane. I reported them to the city council and listed simple things other shelters do to avoid these problems, and they didn't care at all. They're completely uninterested in making simple changes that would improve the welfare and adoptability of the animals, and help the adopters. I seem to have learned more about dogs in one week than they've learned the entire time they've been paid to take care of dogs for a living. The last I saw, the dog became lethargic from chronic diarrhea that he was covered in all day, and which could have been completely avoided and/or easily treated with FMT.

Ya know? And I couldn't even tell them to do the right one because she already got her damn shots. Not paying attention and giving my baby the wrong shot, what if it was a really bad mess up and they gave her something that could've hurt her with their incompetence? Anyways my kitty girl needs a booster and they sent me emails to schedule one but i tried and the website was being weird so i called. We were sitting in the car outfront. She was then told to leave and escorted toward the door. The staff member, Denise if that is her true name was beyond rude and disrespectful. There was no sign posted stating that minors were not allowed inside without an adult. If there is such a policy, it should be clearly posted and communicated respectfully instead of embarrassing a child. I was also disappointed with the condition of the facility. There was a strong odor of urine throughout the building, and it appeared dirty during my visit. This is the third time we have visited and it always is the case. I understand businesses may have policies, but customers--and especially minors--should be treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Our experience instead was met with dispresect, unprofessionalism and even hurt my child's feelings. I would never recommend this location for anyone. In my opinion the owner/ manager should definitely terminate or prevent this worker from ever working there again.
