We switched to Aspetuck from our beloved vets in Brooklyn when we realized how much easier it is to get an appointment and how thorough the records are there. Our dog loves her visits, and the vets and vet techs are all extremely kind and conscientious. We couldn't be happier.

I have deep remorse for bringing Breeze to Aspetuck on 4/8/2026 for what should have been a simple…read moreear check. Breeze was our little girl and so very precious in every way, she loved everyone and enjoyed life. A very healthy 13 year old 17.8 lb West Highland Terrier, the visit was billed as urgent care, which it was absolutely not. That appointment led to a full exam, where the vet noted four loose front teeth. We were already aware of them, and they had never caused Breeze any issues. She ate normally, had no bad breath, daily dental treats, dogbiotics and teeth brushing. Despite this, Dr.Michael Gorra strongly encouraged us to schedule a dental cleaning and extraction, insisting it would prolong her life and warning us it would be dangerous if she swallowed a tooth. This was misleading and, in hindsight not true. Breeze life was not prolonged. Breeze blood work showed elevated Lyme levels, and on 4/11/26 she was given a Convenia antibiotic injection. I expressed concern about her age and the upcoming dental procedure, but I was assured she would be fine. 4/22/26 would be the last day for Breeze to enjoy her every day routine, that including her dental treats, after this date only smooth food, she used to love to eat. On 4/23/26 Breeze's life changed forever. What was supposed to be a simple dental cleaning and four tooth extractions turned into TWELVE teeth removed, without my permission. The invoice included charges for each additional extractions, and IV catheter, premedication, anesthesia, meloxciam, additional anesthesia, propofal, more antibiotics, complex extraction, basic extractions, pain management injection. She had dissolvable sutures, then more antibiotics and pain medication at discharge, along with the invoice that was to be paid upon picking up Breeze. It absolutely breaks my heart that Breeze endured this whole process, only to have her life cut short. We would have done everything possible to prolong her life. I know the side effects of antibiotics. I believe anesthesia and the pharmaceuticals puts a strain on some older dogs and feel 100% that Breeze was too old to endure such an extensive procedure and that if I had not agreed to it, she would still be with us. Breeze passed suddenly within three weeks. The void she has left us is devastating. I would have expected Aspetuck to credit my account, given the misrepresentation that this procedure would prolong her life and the fact that I was paying for a dog who is no longer alive. Aspetuck refused and demanded full payment for every invoice. it is devastating, heartbreaking and feel profoundly wrong. Breeze was our third Westie from the same breeder. Our other two lived to 161/2 and 17 years old. A dental surgeon later told me that in his opinion that dogs over 10 years old should not undergo dental surgery, because it is too taxing on their system. His small senior dog had a similar experience and passed shortly after dental extractions. So sad. My advice: do your research and look for a practice that hasn't sold out to a corporation. Breeze is missed beyond words. The void she left is enormous and I'm so very sorry that she went through all of this procedure only to die within 3 weeks post this surgery. No prolonged life for Breezey. Kathy M Litchfield, CT 06759

He was clearly desperately I'll, and I feared the worst. A week later my best companion and loving family member is lying beside me, alive and recovering. I can dream again of our walks and yet un-tried explorations and of future travels with my best buddy; prospects that were all the sweeter to imagine his enjoyment of them with me seemed bitter and flat. Bello is alive today, with hope of a few more good years with my loving, patient, gentle good boy because we went to Mill Plain Vet. They will always be our vets from now on. Our gratitude is profound. The standards of care at Mill Plains Vets is of the highest. They combine professionalism and heart to a rare degree. They were professional in their expertise and integrity; gracious and understanding to my daughter and me; and, perhaps above all, kind and caring to my gentle, sweet boy. He was suffering and dying, and must have been confused and scared. He is a loving boy who does not like being apart from us. The warmth and kind understanding of the staff reassured him. I think he knew from that that they were helping. I can not convey adequately our gratitude to and regard for the fine people at Mill Plain Vets. I have new heroes. I would like to add a shout-out to vet techs Jessy and Eric. They are amazing people. As lost in a cloud of illness as he was, my sweet boy was comforted by their kindness when we dropped them off. It eased our worries with Bello away from us for the first time to know that he was in such good hands. The next day, Jessy sent us a photo of Bello standing in his cage from her personal phone, and that reassurance meant worlds to us. Mill Plain Vets are not merely superlative professionals, they go beyond the extra mile--it was an extra league. They have our regard and gratitude hereon.

Sophie just turned 10 yrs in December 2020 and she was our lil trooper. Sophie traveled across the country from the Midwest to Southern California to San Francisco to Connecticut and Florida as we followed her daddies career. She was so funny and quite the little character. She was such a happy girl thru the years and was a constant shadow no matter where we went. She loved her treats (even the ones I snuck over to her). Going for car rides just excited her so much she could hardly stand it and usually beat us to the car just waiting looking back at us. Her days at the doggie spa (shampoo blow dry, nails, teeth and the dreaded glands) just tuckered her out that she just slept once she got home. We will miss Sophie and just knowing the staff at Dr Vargoshe's was there for us in her passing brought comfort. We highly recommend this clinic for everything from boarding to care should you be looking for a clinic. Thank you again Dr V. & staff for all your services.

You will never, ever feel like they're rushing or dismissive of your animal's needs. They really get to know everyone personally. Every time one of my animals has passed away, they've cried with me. I work a lot and they're always willing to work with me. I've had my dogsitter and/or friends drop off and pick up animals for me, I've paid over the phone, etc., because they're there for the animals and they don't care how I have to get them there. The staff is so helpful that even if I'm there for one animal, they'll see that I'm about to run out of meds for another animal and have the refill ready to go. One of the things that distinguishes Dr. Nashe from other vets is his use of tried-and-true methods rather than immediately recommending new!exciting!expensive! solutions. He's extremely knowledgeable and won't push you for some fancy treatment course if a simple "give her one vitamin e a day" will do. I have also boarded my dogs there several times and they take excellent care of them. They've also done exams for my dogs during boarding as requested (e.g. I dropped off a dog to be boarded who has chronic ear infections, and since the vet was no longer there when I dropped her off, they did the exam the next day without me and called to let me know what they found). (You still have to pay for the exam.) I trust them to give all medications and attend to details such as which dogs can/can't be trusted with blankets in the kennel. I've called many times at the last minute and they've found space. I found Dr. Nashe because I had taken a dog to Dr. Vargoshe many years ago and enjoyed his old-fashioned methods, but he was on vacation when I needed a new dog vet and his office referred me to Dr. Nashe and I'm so, so happy.
