The chicken is very good as well as the tostones (plantains). The rice was not. Fast service and great price.

We entered, every server was busy, we saw one empty high table, settled ourselves and ordered fish tacos, Chicken Empanadillas, and a couple of drinks (Mojito & beer). Fish tacos were really good, the best we had in the old San Juan area. we were there for 50 odd minutes and went to another bar. the ambiance was good but can't say the same about service but as I said above- this is the scene in every other bar in that street. so this is normal there. also, happy hour is from 3 to 8 (like other bars) one thing to keep in mind- whatever the restaurant/bar/pub you visit in this area - your food order gonna take time, as these all are mostly there for drinks, of course, food items are there in the menu, but it's gonna more then usual time, so if you are hungry, try other restaurants. Bar-restaurant in San Sebastian street- these are good for a couple of drinks & bar hopping. Note: To enter, they are asking for CDC Card (for vaccine check). You can also show a digital copy/Photo of it.

Flavorful AF and even tastier with the hot sauce, so definitely get the hot sauce. They have happy hour from 3 to 8 - got tasty Mojitos and Pina Coladas. Also tried their little shots of frozen slushies for a $1 each - really liked the tamarind one. Also, I highly recommend and would double down on the Paellitas. If you've had Paella in Spain, these Paellitas are the mini-version-don't-wanna-share as they are smaller in portion. However, it was well seasoned and the 3 pieces of shrimp on top were fat and plump (just how I like my shrimp!). Sit by the front and you can also people watch to your heart's content. That's what we did and we ended up making friends with randos that stopped by.

The menu here looked pretty much like that of any other traditional Spanish restaurant. That being said, it doesn't matter because the food we had was excellent. The callos a la madrileña were tasty. Dipping the bread in that sauce.... delicious. The octopus was decent but I've had much better at Casa Manolo. In addition to the traditional Spanish menu, they have a grill menu. When you walk in, the first thing you see in your right is the charcoal grill. We had to try the steak. We went with the ribeye for 2. Excellent. Perfectly done. Well worth the price. They bring the steak (every meat from the grill) to the table on a hot plate with a flame underneath so it continues to sizzle. The downside is that we ordered medium rare. It arrived perfectly done, but kept cooking at the table. We had to remove all the meat to avoid it from becoming well done. Just keep that in mind. The other potential issue for some is the amount of smoke the grill causes. Several tables ordered steaks so the air had lots of smoke. No a big deal for me, but it can be for some. The chef/owner is very nice. He would fist pump patrons as they entered the dining area and talk to them, and even take some orders (like chef Manolo at Casa Manolo). When we arrived the dining area was somewhat quiet. As the evening progressed it became a full house. It seemed to me, like many restaurants in these times, they were understaffed. Employees were wearing several hats. This lead to some frustration in getting attention, but it was understandable. They were doing the best they could. I would still return for more steak and callos.

If not for the sign on the door, you'd walk/drive past it and not notice. Even with the sign, you'll likely miss it. Limited private parking, plus street parking. Inside dining only. Interior is intimate. Total of 4 tables. Three small and one large table, good for about 10-12 people. Reservations only. Take out is available. The waitress told us they opened 3 years ago as a careening service and private Chef's table events. This past year they opened to the public as a restaurant. The name comes from the Madrid neighborhood of Lavapiés, the Chef's hometown. Service was great. The waitress warmly welcomed us and was more then happy to explain the restaurant's history as well as the menu. The Chef also came out to greet us and explain everything. The menu changes week to week, depending on what he finds at the market and customer feedback. We started off with their famous croquetas, 3 ham and 3 cod. We also ordered the albóndigas and hojaldradas, rectangular shaped patatas bravas. For the main course we shared the arroz negro con chipirones (black rice with baby squid), arroz xtuleta (rice with ribeye), cachopo (breaded steak stuffed with ham and cheese), and the rabo de res with apio trufado (beef tail with truffled mashed celery). Everything was delicious. I would reorder everything again. The tail was tender. The cachopo and arroz negro were my favorites. I also loved the croquetas. For dessert, they only have a cheesecake. I'm not a cheesecake fan, but everyone at the table enjoyed it. I hope they continue to grow and I won't be surprised if they move to a bigger location soon because the food and service are great. Put this place on your short list.

We took a moment to decide whether to get a bottle or just go by the glass. We ordered boquerones and asked about the croquetas, including the price of an off-menu assortment. The waiter said he did not know the price and would have to place the order to find out. He then said he would give us a few minutes to decide. When he returned he was all worked up, and told us that we were "in the wrong restaurant" and that if we found the wine or food too expensive, this was not the place for us. We had not commented on pricing--only asked standard questions. He then said he would not serve us. A different server took over and was professional and helpful. We ended up ordering a bottle of red wine, croquetas, and several tapas. Unfortunately, the initial interaction significantly affected the experience. Asking about prices and menu options should not result in being dismissed. Also, the chorizo al vino was disappointing.

Croquettes, chorizo, fried potatoes, ham, cheese, ceviche all come on shared plates. Everything is made to order and hot, so be patient. They do lots of paella to order. The paella mariscos was great and rice was perfect, fresh, moist and seasoned. Service is welcoming and quick. Can fill up quickly and sound loud like a busy Chinese restaurant in Spanish.
