Rooms are very clean, pool, fitness center, etc. are great. But here's the rub: I was on the…read moresecond floor and it was literally like living in a cheap apartment building. I could hear all the walking above me on the 3rd floor and in the hallway on the 2nd floor - it was THUMP, THUMP, THUMP all night long.
Courteous service (when I could find them at the front desk). I called them a couple of times prior to my visit and stopped by the desk a couple of times during my stay but there is only one attendant, and they are frequently called away to take care of things on other floors.
A hot breakfast is included. Make your own waffles, a couple of different egg items, biscuits and gravy, French toast sticks and even something I call "buffet omelets" which should not exist in my humble opinion (see picture - yuk). Not all of these were available on each day, they changed it from day to day. They also had some fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, cereal, etc.
This hotel is about a 6-mile drive to the U.S. side of the International Bridge to cross over into Acuna. You can park your car in a couple of parking lots right before the bridge for a fee, or you can take a cab from this hotel for about $13 - I recommend taking a cab and leaving your car at the hotel.
Each room includes a nice sized mini fridge with a freezer, a microwave, and a personal coffee maker.
Pool and fitness room are great - I didn't dig the breakfast options, but the only thing I removed a star for was the noise from upstairs and the thump thump noise from the hallway.
There's a Walmart and Rudy's BBQ within spittin' distance and lots of other chain restaurants and shopping nearby. If you are looking for a local joint to eat at, you'll need to drive just a bit further, but it's not a big town, so it will only be a few miles.
Next time, I'll probably check out the Holiday Inn Express right next door, but the only reason is because of the noise. I can overlook the breakfast problems and everything else I mentioned. But the thump, thump, thump from people walking above me was downright annoying.
