I stopped into Angkor Bakery today as I had a few minutes to tie me over whilst I waited for the nearby bus. I like caramel slice, and they had a large tray in the shop window and in the glass cabinet, so I figured they must be popular. They also cost less than $2, very good price.
They have a nice little seat bench outside, so I sat down and was about to munch into my sweet treat when I saw the bus in the corner of my eye - they were early! So I slid my caramel slice back into the paper bag and ran!
So, at home I ate my slice, although was a bit put off at the start with the amount of oil that had leaked into the paper bag, my poor arteries! It had a very crumbly base that was annoying, but the topping made up for that - the caramel wasn't over the top in sweetness which was great; I had one from a bakery a few weeks back in Glen Eden and I literally couldn't eat it all in one go it was so sickly. This one was not too sweet, just right in that department. The topping was soft chocolate icing, not hard like many others. .Thats about it for my first experience of this little bakery in the heart of Pt Chev. read more
