This was a very convenient place to shop and get some groceries, especially if you realize you need a couple of things for dinner or two. Most staff are friendly. The owner and son and daughter aren't as helpful. Unfortunately I've been in 3 times this past month and there is less and less stock on the shelves! Many of the dry and canned goods shelves are bare or sparsely stocked. The Dairy and frozen aisles are also bare or poorly stocked. I had to go down Yellowstone blvd to get some cold brew, cream cheese , sour cream and tortillas .I'm guessing Angie is struggling and will be closed very soon! The market's small and tight, but well-kept. Not sure if the guy in the heavy flannel with the slicked-back Pat Riley hair is the owner, but he's definitely a character. On one visit, I overheard him by the seafood section saying--somewhat smugly--that his fish comes from Europe and Seattle, not China. On another occasion, he seemed to be noticeably more attentive to the white customers. I don't like to jump to conclusions, but sometimes the signs are hard to ignore. read more

I'm latin. I've never had an issue here. I been coming for years. My son went to an excellent Brazilian Ju Jitsu school next door. I go in, get what I need, wait on line/cue at the register, get rung up ask for 2 bags and apple pay. The have such convenient parking and it's never packed. I shop the same way at all supermarkets--with a list. Cashiers have always given me my bags and if I stop an employee, they have always been super helpful and in most cases walked me to where the product I am looking for is. The more I have gone the more I know where to go and the less I need to speak to anyone, really. Seamless. read more

I've been shopping here for at least a year. Yesterday, I bought 3 lbs of chicken breast and when I opened it, it was completely rotten. The smell was rancid and the meat was slimy. I also bought 3 yogurts that were all expired and had begun to grow mold. This is unacceptable and downright disgusting. read more

This place has been here a while now but its the first time I stopped in. It's a grocery store but it's also more than that. It's a mom and pop's natural food store I guess you could say. They have lots of specialty brands and flavors. The aisles are decent sized and the set up for the store is easy to navigate. Friendly staff as well. They have a small parking lot but it can get filled up quickly when it's busy. A great addition to the neighborhood. read more

A new premium supermarket opens in Forest Hills. It's like a mini version of Fairway or Whole Foods. Expect to find quality products at reasonable to high prices. Fresh grapes were only $2 lb. A great deal! Quality meats, Fresh fish, seafood, cheese cut to order, artisanal bread baked daily, and pre-cooked food counter. Good time to pick up some dinner! Produce aisle was brimming with freshness. Large variety of different fruits and vegetables, some organic and reasonably priced. Cheese counter. Big wheels of cheese everywhere. They also have samples for you to try out. Bread counter. Artisanal breads are baked daily in-house. You can see their big ovens in the back. Samples of their breads are set out on the counter for you to sample, along with some of their featured olive oils, for dipping. There is also aisles of usual supermarket items like, dairy, frozen food, snacks, spices, sauces, detergents, etc. Most of their products contain fewer artificial ingredients and chemicals, than your average supermarket. Lots of items are not found in your local supermarket. As a Yelp foodie, it was nice wandering around finding new items of interest. Parking: They have their own parking lot, adjacent. Angie's Market was under soft opening and chaos last week. The food and grocery were fresh with good quality but lots of shelves were still empty and price was labeled incorrectly. The arrangement of store wasn't proper in our opinion that the aisles were super narrow and the windows were blocked with the back of freezers. read more

The entire winter, 3 months in a row we live under Angie's market generator noise. And pollution. They had a fire but blame not fixing the problem on the holidays. The owner is uncooperative and doesn't answer calls. The issue is under review with Lynn Shilmans office. There might be a new law passed that allows the buisness to be closed and the problem fixed. My husband and I used to love your fish market. We often bought fresh seafood for the holiday's at Angie's Market. Unfortunately, yesterday I purchased 2 pieces of Arctic salmon and it was inedible. Our dinner was ruined! The salmon was cooked about 15-20 minutes after purchasing it. Upon opening the fish it had an odor. I sprinkled some lemon and olive oil on it hoping it would add flavor but when we attempted to eat it was terrible. I decided to give Angie's market one final chance yesterday and again, it was a terrible experience. The owner was on the phone chatting away, as usual. When he came over to package the fish he was telling me how much fish they sell and how great the seafood is. As a buyer, seller, and store owner, manager did he not sense or smell the bad odor of the pieces he was packaging? Who has the food handling license at your establishment? This is a violation state food policies. It was reasonably priced and we were shocked that Angie's could sell rotting or expired food, especially a so-called "gourmet" supermarket (you'd expect a higher standard, naturally). I wanted to take it back but hubby had already dumped the salmon into the trash. Not a good sign - We've pretty much stopped buying stuff from here. I don't really know how this market got such great reviews! First of all the Isles are very small I actually got claustrophobic! the prepared foods were nothing special. The prices on everything else in the store very expensive. The bread selections were very good. I won't be going back. read more

Really happy to see a market open at the former Sizzler location. Definitely needed an alternative to the chaotic Trader Joes in the neighborhood. Grand opening weekend is always tricky as they work out the kinks but it's worth giving this place a shot. It's small, narrow, with lots of options so bring your patience and a smile. It has a Fairway vibe as mentioned by the previous poster. Upon entering, you'll see a variety of fruits and vegetables. As it's narrow, it's not exactly stroller or wheel friendly but you can slowly maneuver. Tandem stroller, yes, but not a double side by side stroller. The bread section is cool, with fresh baked loaves and the option to get it sliced (love!) and good prices. Aisles are full of variety and options - a little bit of everything for this small-ish market. If you know me, you know I love variety and having options in a neighborhood market is essential. Cheese selection was lovely and the person operating that area was so helpful! My favorite part of the store was the pre-made food area. BIG help for days when I don't feel like cooking and want something different. The wings were pretty good. Would definitely get it again. Options included meatballs, pasta, chicken parm, and lots of other goodies. I think they'll probably have to work out the check-out area as it can get tight (reminds me of the Keyfood on Queens Boulevard). Not sure how it works yet, but there is an option to sign up for their club card online at their website. Overall, pricing is okay but as with any market, know your prices. Some places may be cheaper than others. Also, unsure if this market will hold sales for items. If so, even better. Lots of prices haven't been posted on the displays just yet and you can see that they are working on it. A nice welcome to the neighborhood and I hope that once they work out the kinks, this place will thrive. read more

Don't come here if you want to be treated with respect. There is a cashier here who is very rude and has made racist remarks. This has happened to my family and neighbors. She has also tried to rip off my uncle and denied that she already charged his card even though the phone said she did. Not to mention that during covid, employees and boss would refuse to wear masks even though they were coughing. This place is such a mess. We used to patronize Angie's Market quite frequently despite the complaints about non-mask wearing by some reviewers here. I guess I was used to the jerks on the subway so a maskless server didn't faze me all that much. But there's been less foot traffic here lately, which makes me wonder. Well, a few months ago we bought a plastic tub of pickles and it turned out to be rancid. It was expensive and we were shocked that Angie's could sell rotting or expired food, especially a so-called "gourmet" supermarket (you'd expect a higher standard, naturally). I wanted to take it back but hubby had already dumped the container into the trash. Not a good sign - perhaps fewer people are shopping here due to the mask issues and that's why they're peddling outdated stock that hasn't sold. But high prices and poor quality food? No way. I came here couple of days after they had their grand opening they were still setting up but from what i can see this place has great potential the produce was well taken care of they carry a lot of items you can only find at smaller places like this which i love. their bakery section was amazing the smell of fresh bread lours you in the lady was so friendly she explained what times they bake and what kinds of bread they make. right next to that is their large assortment of cheeses and deli section which i was told they also make hot plates of food. they also have a fish section but the gentleman working didn't seem to happy heard him complaining how he didn't like working with fish the seafood look fresh read more

People behind deli counter do not wear masks, they give you non-boars head cold cuts at boars head prices; I asked for quarter pound of roast beef, I was given 3/4 lbs. When I asked to for a do-over, I was told " do you not want some extra, looks like you could use some". Their bread section is good, however they give out samples, that every Tom, Dick and Harry sticks his fingers in. Manager does not wear a mask over his nose. The mask hangs on his chin like a used handkerchief. They do not honor their sales and the "yo bro....Italian slang" is really not part of Forest Hills culture. Customer service is fantastic and they even offer you samples from their freshly-made food counter. Pandemic rating: Zero stars. Went in a couple of weeks ago for an incidental and found a man who looked like a manager with no mask at all talking to other employees who at least had a mask on, but it was down by his chin. They were at the bottleneck at the front making no effort to socially distance. Two other cashiers had their masks on properly, but that didn't help my bad feeling. Similarly, there were other shoppers in the store without masks and no attempt was made to either make them comply or shot them the door. If we weren't in a pandemic situation I would say that that it's a 3 star rating, good cheese and bread section; although the prepared foods aren't that appetizing to me. The store itself is crammed full and I'm doubtful that the aisles are ADA compliant, but I never measure so I just know they're uncomfortably tight. Overall I'm glad that they're buying more organic/healthy brands of frozen foods and the Ice Cream/frozen dessert section is descent despite the limited shelf space. The fact remains though that we are in a pandemic and whomever owns Angie's does have a rather lack-luster attitude towards their responsibility to provide a safe and clean place to purchase the necessities. read more

Panic buying?? For everyone in Forest Hills, YES. For me? I just needed cream cheese. So Angie's market took over the old Sizzler property. If anyone been to old Sizzler, it wasn't that big. The upside was their parking lot compared to the Sizzler in Rego Park. Ok enough about Sizzler, how's the market? Well for a time like this with the Coronavirus, mass panic, lots of unnecessary buying, Angie's market was surprisingly the least crowded market in the neighborhood. I stopped by Stop and Shop on Union Tpke, the parking garage there was all backed up. It wasn't even worth going to for two reasons. 1. Extremely crowded 2. Due to the plastic bag ban, many customers who are mass buying forgot to bring their own bags and then end up holding up the line at self checkout or at any cashier's line. We then drove by Trader Joe's. It was equally as bad, perhaps even worse. We all know how bad the parking lot is at Trader Joe's. If 1 car needs to back out of their parking spot, it becomes a natural disaster. I generally park at Dick's and walk over. But on this day due to the panic buying, both lots were filled. The line the Trader Joe's wrapped around the property, going back to near Dick's. And let's not forget, this Trader Joe's is pretty darn small so by the time you actually make it into the store, the chances are there's probably not much left. Now finally onto Angie's Market! We went in around 10am, half empty parking lot. Grabbed a shopping cart in case my kid saw anything he wanted. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how small it was. Everything felt very tight and compact. The aisles and walkways were all too narrow for two shopping carts to pass by each other. Also, at the same time, the staff was also restocking items with loads of boxes taking up aisle space which made it even harder to get by. The deli and seafood counter look pretty fresh. Their produce section looked really good too. But I'm not going to buy stuff that I already have at home or stuff that I don't currently need. I only needed cream cheese so I got it here for $4.99. My son saw a snack he wanted, my wife bought some Earl Grey tea and that was it. Our shopping trip here was short and sweet. I can't understand why people prefer lining up for hours at Stop and Shop, Trader Joe's, or Costco when they could of easily bought some essential items right here at Angie's. Every aisle was fully loaded, they had hygiene items available, no line whatsoever. Verdict - My only gripe was the narrowness of the aisles. The price was meh. I could of gotten my cream cheese cheaper at other stores but whatever, it was convenient as hell coming here. The location of Angie's market was a bit odd to me when they were constructing the place. I figure a market like this with narrow aisles would fare much better on Austin Street or somewhere that has more foot traffic. If they're depending on customers who drive, their parking lot isn't all that big. Customers whom drive and wanna buy more by the bulk would most likely opt going to Stop and Shop or Trader Joe's since their parking lot is massive. As for Angie's, I wish them success but for a unique market like them, they need to remain unique and offer something different than Stop and Shop and Trader Joe's otherwise they will be pummeled by their competitors and close up shop in no time. read more

Fresh seafood and great fresh food to grab and go. The bread pastry section is the best in Forest Hills, they make their own focaccia, sourdough and croissants daily, the almond croissants are out of the world. Only thing is that the deli people could be a bit faster, otherwise they have a wider selection of prepared foods and fresh produce. read more

The store opened in the former Sizler space only a few weeks before New York got shut down because of the epidemic. It quickly became our first choice for groceries. We love it! From the restaurant-quality sushi greeting you at the entrance, to the variety of freshly baked breads, from excellent vegetable to the cheese collection - everything just screams "fresh and delicious". The prices are in the same ballpark as the nearby Trader Joe's - higher than a Walmart, but there's no Walmart in New York City. The selection is much better than Trader Joe's. read more

Best market in Queens. Their bakery has the best bread and their fish is always fresh. Plus their deli has fresh foods daily. The meat selection is always super fresh. All these people complain that the owner doesn't wear a mask but they don't realize he is fully vaccinated and prior to that recovered from Covid and had immunity. I went to angie's market today and witnessed the owner assault a customer because the customer asked the owner to wear a mask due to COVID-19 and concerns related to exposure. The owner has been asked multiple times to either wear a mask or wear a mask properly. The owner then proceeded to complain about the customer and share with a cashier near me that he was in the right to assault the customer. I then called later to speak with the owner and i was treated very poorly over the phone by a cashier and a manager. The impression in person and over the phone is that the owner does not care about hia customers. Do not shop at this store if possible. read more

The manager of Angie's Market does NOT wear a facemask. This is the second time I have seen this. He was standing talking to an individual who was properly masked. I asked him why he was not wearing a mask. He completely ignored me and refused to address me. This is a good market but I will not shop in a place that does not protect their customers, all of whom were wearing masks. A cashier wore his mask under his nose, but he is clearly not expected to wear it properly considering that his manager does not wear a mask at all. There are many other markets to shop at that are following the city rules. Failure to comply will affect the business's bottom line. read more
