Adopted my beagle from here in 2020 and since i moved to another state and came back home they will not treat him since he hasn't been there in over 18 months because they're no longer accepting new patients. I think that's ridiculous to turn away a dog that was adopted from YOUR facility. Probably for the best as they've just gotten harder and harder to get ahold of throughout the years. I am reading all of these negative posts and I have a hard time believing them. I have adopted most of my cats from Angels and they are fantastic. How anyone can say they don't care about these animals is just plain crazy. The employees there know each and everyone of these animals, their personalities, their habits, if they have any illnesses (which they disclose). One of my babies even had to go back a couple times after adopting her because she was ill, but they took care of her free of charge. I will admit that I don't care for the Vet Center and I ultimatley found a new vet, but it wasn't because they gave my cats poor care. They just didn't ever have available appointments if my cats needed anything more than vaccines. But the shelter itself is wonderful, and wonderfully run. read more

Staff was super transparent about medical & behavioral issues with cats. The vet care that they receive while in the shelter is amazing. My 5 yo gal had a full dental done. I decided to leave a review due to all the negatives (which seem to be more about cats) I took my 1 1/2 old male GSD here to get neutered. He's extremely nervous (GSD for ya) with vets and I told them that going in. The lady at the check in offered me to get some pre meds to help with his anxiety. They took me back and my dog flipped out per usual. Thrashing around, running around like a mad man. The actual vet surgeon, dr Parker was so nice and very calm with him. She nor her staff got frustrated with my nervous boy. They let me stay back till he was sedated so he could be as calm as possible. They are a busy place and I will say the lady at check out was super rude to us. But the techs and surgeon were so amazing. They made my mind be at ease. They even let me pick up early since he's so scared so we didn't deal with the rush. read more

PLEASE do not take your cats or little kittens you might find to Angels for Animals !!!! I have heard from multiple sources that they euthanize kittens that are not adopted within 8 months. Even taking your pets there for veterinary work is providing this organization with more financial resources to euthanize kittens with. Please share this information with others and please do not give them your business. I am absolutely disgusted that this place pretends to be a safe haven for cats when it seems that their only interest is in cats that will make them money in adoption fees. I would not have my kitty Hope today if it was not for the kind people who drove her all the way out to a different animal shelter after Angels for Animals told them they'd euthanize her if they dropped her off there. Before I knew Angels for Animals did this, I used to volunteer there, and I will never forget a really nice family bringing in a litter of baby kittens who had lost their mother and needed to be bottle fed. I heard a worker at Angels for Animals tell this family that they'd euthanize the entire litter of kittens if they left them there with them. Thankfully this family was good-hearted enough not to. An amazing alternative to Angels for Animals is New Lease on Life in Struthers, which adopts out both cats, dogs, and other animals. They rescue adoptable animals from other shelters where they're about to be euthanized. Thank God for this shelter, because if our middle-kitty, Weasley, had been at Angels for Animals, he also would've been euthanized (he was nearing 8 months old when we adopted him and New Lease on Life had saved him from a shelter in PA with similar practices that was going to euthanize him). read more

**Update** We called the shelter this morning a little less angry to try and find out what happened. They offered no explanation as to why our fosters weren't returned. This place is terrible. Both cats i adopted several years apart had intestinal infections. So if you do adopt plan on a trip to the vet (hopefully not them) to get them healthy again. Worst service ever!!! Extremely unprofessional!! Adopted a senior cat, had her for 2 months and no matter how patient we were with her she just wasn't a good fit for our family. We wanted so badly for it to work out but unfortunately we returned her. My son filled out the questioner upon the return and handed the cat over in the carrier that he transported her in with a fleece blanket inside for comfort. The following day he realized they never gave him the carrier or blanket back after completing the paperwork. He stopped to pick up our belongings on the next business day. They said they threw them away.....wth?! I called to see where my personal belongings are and again I was told they threw them away. Both Shari and Leslie were extremely rude with me and said I forfeited my items when I returned the cat and my personal carrier & blanket have been thrown away. I've also been told that i an banned from future adoptions and if i step foot in the premises that they will call the cops. ALL OVER A CARRIER AND A BLANKET THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM. The name of this place should be "devils for animals" A bunch of people who run an organization yet don't give a flying **** about the animals. Most of these animals are being borderline neglected and I'm pretty sure it is a non profit. They have a clinic in here and yet most of the animals have so many illnesses that were left untreated until adoption. Speaking of adoption, good luck adopting from this place. They have an absurd amount of unspoken rules but basically I will sum it out for you. They would rather keep these animals locked up in cages than let anyone who is younger than 30 or older than 35 adopt. You also have no shot if you live in an apartment or any other type of home besides a house. You also need to make sure if you have a family of 4 your household income is 6 figures or above but make sure you don't actually have to go to work or they will be worried you are going to neglect your pet. Anyways, about a decade ago I used to look up to this place but now whoever is running it is just honestly beyond delusional. It is going downhill fast. Do better and maybe start caring about getting animals out of the shelter where you cannot care for them instead of worrying about if the person who is paying a fortune is going to kill the pet. Let's be for real here. Obviously it's important that the animal gets into a good and long term home but if you make that impossible most of them are going to die in there. This place is a disaster and a half. Went straight into the toilet since the last time I took a dog here and will never be going back. Go to drop off my dog for a neuter. Myself and the people who came in right after got yelled at - literally yelled at and scolded, like children, by staff - that they can't have the dogs in there and to get out. If you don't want us bringing our dogs in during check-in, then you should have included that info in the confirmation email and/or reminder email. Or even the instructions on the website. There were two other dogs already in there, but we were made to wait outside. So, double standard much? If you're so strict about this rule, then everyone should have to follow it. Which, by the way, is also a safety issue when you're asking owners to leave dogs in hot cars for a long period of time. We waited outside for at least 20 mins before getting called back. Sure, I'd totally leave my dog in a car for that long. As though dogs don't sit together in a lobby at a vets office all the time. My husband stayed inside to check our dog in where he told me the staff continued to be extremely rude to everyone. He almost walked out - and he has a long fuse. He also got to overhear a distraught woman who had brought in a momma cat and kittens who had been dumped at her door. Angels took the mom in but refused to take the kittens, who were nursing and only about a week old. They took a mother cat away from her nursing kittens and told this woman too bad on the kittens; because she gave them food and water, they were hers. They also made her pay them to take the momma cat to "cover the spay." They spayed a milk-producing mother cat that needs to be with her babies. Who, by the way, are sick now (shocking) and this woman was desperate for help, but all the staff would do was tell her to make an appointment with the vet. Are you kidding me? We get there for pick-up and walk in a couple minutes early with a few other people...where we all proceeded to wait until about 10 til 5 for them to finally start giving our dogs back. Pick-up is 4:30 to 5 (and cats are supposed to start picking-up at 5, mind). They had paperwork to finish. Seriously? We're here waiting, so maybe start calling people up to the desk that you have finished? There's two of you there. Even when we started being able to go up, only one of them was actually checking us out. Total joke. And, naturally, they weren't apologetic about anything in the least and had no sense of urgency about getting things moving. Oh, and while it's listed on the website about how they put a small green tattoo on the dogs by the incision site (which I don't particularly care for in and of itself), no where is it mentioned that they put a silver spray over the area, nor did anyone bother telling us this beforehand, and it's not listed anywhere on the aftercare instructions which we were given at check-in. It was only when the vet tech was giving us all the take home speech in the lobby did they bother to say they did this...spray some stuff on their incision sites so if they lick it turns their nose silver... Really? Thanks for spraying some chemical on my dog without permission, that I don't know what's in it, and potentially cause some kind of reaction. Frankly, you did something without my consent, and that's the quickest way to piss me off. I can't even clean it off because I don't want to get water near the stitches or irritate the site. So, thanks so much for that. TL;DR: F*** this place. read more

I need to call them, again, I live in the country, and have had Pregnant Cats dropped off. I'm currently with over 15, cats and kittens. I will keep everyone of them, but they all need fixed, and their Shots. They have a nice Shelter for cold weather months. No judging please, I won't get rid of them. They deserve a great life too. Emailed about dropping off a stray kitten we've been taking care of. Took her in and then refused to respond to any calls or emails when I was inquiring on foster status. You see, after I dropped her off I read in several places they euthanize drop offs. I immediately reached out and offered to pick the kitten back up. Three emails and two phone calls. Nothing. I took my boss' kitten there because she was sick and also bc she needed to go. They gave her a booster, cut her nails, did a fear treatment and that was all. She is still sick, 4 weeks later. And when I called they looked at her file and the not from the doc said she was sick but nothing was done to help her get better! I drove an hour away meeting and adoption is a same day process. *I would recommend getting on their website and filling out the application before showing up* I got in and out in under an hour. They were extremely nice and friendly, and quick with the process of adoption. I would highly recommend coming here to adopt because they have tons of cats and dogs ranging from 1-2 months to adults. I rarely leave reviews but I think Angels is getting a bum rap in some of these reviews. I have adopted 5 cats from here and fostered a few. As with any place, there is only so much room at the inn. I can attest the lengths they go to, having received emails hoping I could foster just one more..... I also take my cats there for their basic medical. Yearly shots and rabies. Never had a problem. Last time I was there as always I let them know my purr baby bites and gave them the warning signs. Sure enough, she went for a nip as she was getting her yearly. Well none of these bad reviews surprise me. This place is horriable and filled with nasty and unprofessional people that work there including the one who runs it. She's nasty and her personality is like a wet towel. I called needing her help one time as a group home on the Northside of Youngstown closed and there were many stay cats left with no shelter or food. I asked for her help and instead of helping me she turned me away and basically told me not to bother her, as they don't help with strays. She never offered any info on who could help me and hung up. Took my 1 year old German Shepherd to get some vaccines today. When we first walked into the exam room the staff just brushed off the nails from previous dogs onto the floor. They are not very sanitary it's disgusting. Plus, Staff was extremely rude. I had my girl muzzled because she can be skittish with dogs and people. Got asked by the doctor if my dog has had any training. Yes, quite in fact my dog has had lots of training but I'm sorry if my girl doesn't want to sit still while someone jabs her 3 times in the leg with a needle. Didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. The lady that was with the doctor assuming the vet tech couldn't get the blood drawn from my dogs leg and was getting frustrated with my dog. For adoption this is an incredibly affordable shelter. They had so many loveable animals when I went a while ago. My partner and I went in for a kitten but we came out with a four year old cat that I won't trade for the world. She won me over when she jumped up to my chest and purred there like she was home! Anyhow, the staff are very knowledgeable here and want you find an animal who will be yours forever. They have a lovely facility with a ton of enrichment for the cats and they have a ton of cats available. We went to several other facilities but they simply didn't have that many cats available, or you couldn't really interact with them. Here you are able to enter rooms, greet the cats and get to know them in their own environment. I highly recommend this shelter. read more

It is an extremely far drive for her and so she was late. Apparently if you are late they give your spot to the next person in a waiting list. And to add insult to energy they make you pay a fee of $20 to "hold your spot" no where in the disclaimer does it state that they would give your spot away. I used to love angels for animals and have adopted from them several times. We adopted a kitten from them and took him back several weeks later to get his rabies shot. He gave us his card and said if anything comes up to call him or text him. Well my kitten started to throw up and had really bad diarrhea afterwards and we tied calling and texting him with no response. After a few hours it stopped and we thought maybe he just had a small reaction cause apparently the vet was not too concerned to give us a call back. About two weeks after that he got very sick and almost died. we rushed him to the emergency vet who asked us if he got into poison. we said no because all our chemicals are locked. they did bloodwork and found nothing in his system but he had a really bad infection and a extremely high temp. then asked us if he got a vaccine recently and found out he had a really bad reaction. Now I'm not going to fault them for that but I sure am because maybe if they cared enough to CALL OR TEXT BACK then maybe we could have treated it early and not when he was in the process of dying from it. read more

I will never ever use Angels for Animals again for anything. In the past I have got many cats and kittens fixed through them. Never had extra charges or been treated crappy... well my last experience was awful. First off the lied about Bear being included in ,"show me the mommy" promo, they charged me full price for him. They also did earmite and flea treatments even after I told them not to, I have the stuff here to do it that I just bought. And pretty much bullied Caitlin into letting them do a blood test on Puddy. They got the kittens ages wrong. AND the girl at the counter was mean to Caitlin.... she damn lucky I was an hour away. Because TJ Vint wouldn't have talked to Caitlin (my child) in any rude manner for sure. What should have cost me a total of 130$ I ended up paying 235$.... they must be hard up for money now that they built the new building.... I am beyond disappointed with them AND the head person of that department has yet to call me back. I am so beyond disappointed and angry. Never again will I go there......I try to do my part in keeping the cat population down in my neighborhood and this is what happens.... read more
