Pappardelle Bolognese
Shahan A.

Arrived on time with a reservation, but they told us we'd have to wait another hour. Pappardelle bolognese was just okay. First of all, there wasn't much meat. Mostly just pasta and sauce. And second, a lot of the [upper] pasta felt uncooked because it wasn't really coated in the sauce. Waitress Ashley was very nice and attentive.

YES. EAT HERE. Angelo's has been one of our go-to's for quite some time and we have never once been disappointed. The late night specials are one of our favorite indulgences; affordable and QUALITY. Megan was our server and she was impeccable. Always on top of it, super friendly, great at her job. This is one of our favorite oyster spots, especially during their happy hours when they're only $1.25 a pop. Both raw and cooked are phenomenal! I highly recommend the Gorgonzola bacon oysters. Chef's kiss. We ordered 14 raw oysters, 6 cooked, 2 orders of toasted raviolis, Caesar salad, 8" pepperoni pizza, meatball sandwich, and 2 diet cokes. Both of us were perfectly full and the bill was under $80. Insane! Will forever be a fan.

Fun - packed place. The weather was still comfortable so we chose an outdoor table for the 8 of us. The place was bustling the entire night - some patrons just there for wine tastings and others like us for dinner. For as busy as it was there was not a long wait for our food. Everyone enjoyed what they had, from French Onion Soup to Mussels to various Salads. The same can be said for the entrees which for the most part were Pastas. As it got dark, we were treated to a full moon as a backdrop and various fire pits were lit. I don't know how busy they are during the week but definitely get reservations for the weekend. Fun place to check out.

Roasted Beet Salad with salmon add-on

On a hot early summer day in mid-June (well Father's Day to be exact), dining at Angelo's Taverna was so fitting. This eatery conjoined with Carboy Winery, for those who are avid wine drinkers can appreciate this restaurant even when they are with beer drinkers as Angelo's has got a good selection of beer(s) as well. After walking in the nearby trail along the Platte River for a good 20-30 minutes, my BF and I were ready for a nice meal that would be accompanied by great drinks. At a glance, the restaurant looked busy and yet once we were inside (as we opted for the air-conditioned inside seating), we realized that the place had plenty of seatings left. Upon checking in with the receptionist, we were sat at one of the 2-person tables that has a great view of the patio area. Our wonderful waiter is/was Jeff K. His warm demeanor coupled with his kind and welcoming words made us feel that we were in good hands for the lunch occasion. He went with the Smoked Salmon Mezzaluna and I went with the Roasted Beet Salad with Salmon add-on. Our drinks were the Avalanche for him and the Sauvignon Blanc (tap) for me. His Smoked Salmon Mezzaluna - Excellent pasta dish. The pasta (kind of like ravioli) has smoked salmon paste inside it. The cream sauce bottom had a nice contrast color from the pasta (orangy color). It wasn't just the creamy white and the orangy pasta. There is a noticeable amount of spinach to make the whole dish so colorful. The taste? It entertained his/mine palates. My Roasted Beet Salad with grilled Salmon - This is also a solid dish. Plenty of arugula leaves are the bottom/base of the whole plate. The beet pieces are everywhere. The wall nuts and a little sprinkle of goat cheese (?) colorfully painted the whole dish. My BF and I simply couldn't think of anything negative about our today's lunch experience. Glad that we came here.

Food was creative, I was so pleasantly surprised to find this place. Good energy good people really appreciated having Lexi as my waitress. She was kind, knew the menu and gave me a great first timer experience!

We visited again this weekend and had a great experience! It was busy due to a private party in the banquet room, but the food came out very quickly and we were seated almost immediately (we called ahead and got on the priority seating list, which I would recommend). The special oyster of the day was shrimp scampi, which was delicious. It didn't have any shrimp on it, so I was confused by the name, but it had a very flavorful, garlicky pesto and a creamy sauce. The salmon risotto was cooked perfectly this time. We also enjoyed the lobster gnocchi and the pappardelle bolognese. This was our first time trying the bolognese, and it was great. Not too rich or creamy, with a generous amount of carrots and ground meat (sausage or meatball). Overall, this was a great visit!

Did a togo order of the kitchen sink pizza and the caesar salad. Pizza was great! Salad was just okay (would pass next time). Interior of the restaurant looked very nice and service interactions were friendly.

It only took 8 years to finally try Angelo's Taverna in Littleton out, but so glad we did! We knew by the crowd on a Monday evening that this place was a winner. We put our name in for a table, but got seats at the bar. So excited to see they had a Burrata appetizer. We enjoy this in Las Vegas, but haven't seen a lot of it in the Denver area. From the delicious cocktails to Carboy wine to fabulous pasta, what a great experience. Our bartenders/servers Hersha and Conlan were very attentive. The manager, Mersadies, was so friendly and took the time to introduce herself and talk about the history and growth of the location. Sad it took so long to visit, but happy to have found such a delightful new place for great cocktails, wine, and food!

One of my favorite places in all of Denver! Better late than never. Came here few years back and just loved it: forgot to write a review but I remember the delicious food, igloo dining tents. And their grilled oysters. They were delicious! Grilled oysters.s very tasty. I love my oysters raw but these were worth a trip or 3. Yellow tail thing. It was the ponzu. Burrata was great. The homemade sauces ( pesto being the richest) were great too. And their pastas! My favorite was bolognese with papardelle. Limoncello was a great end to it all. Food was definitely worth returning a few times for. Maybe I'll be back

Ask the Community - Angelo's Taverna

I would like to take tray of Eggplant Parmigiana to a friend who is vegetarian. It needs to feed about 6 people. I don't want individual portions. Is it possible to get this?

Call the restaurant directly and ask. They are very accommodating.

Where is the other Angelo's. Not the one off santa fe?

They have an open kitchen that keeps people entertained while waiting. You can see all the food coming out and you can pretty much decide what to eat before arriving at your table. The serving sizes of the food is worth the price. My husband usually finishes his food but couldn't finish the Stromboli because it was packed with ingredients and it was pretty big. My chicken fettuccine alfredo was a larger serving than what I would expect from Olive garden. Alfredo sauce tasted authentic and I love the texture of the noodles. As for the spaghetti dish, I really enjoyed when the waitress asked if we like thick noodles or thin noodles. They have a variety of pasta in house and it was nice to have a decision on that. Their garlic cheesy bread was amazing. I was intimidated on getting the cheese melted on the garlic bread at first but I'm glad I did. It hit the spot. For dessert we had the flourless torte. It is not dry but is very decadent. The waitress describe that it was small but it was a perfect size for the price. The richness, the softness, the texture was phenomenal. I can't wait to pick up a pizza one night and bring it home. Despite some of the bad reviews, I'm glad that we tried this place.

My personal favorite is Cranelli's Italian restaurant in Lone Tree, Colorado. We were very warmly greeted as we arrived at the restaurant. On this particular day, we were there during happy hour because I had a nearby appointment. Right away, the ambiance was warm, cozy, had the feeling of a "real" Italian restaurant. We were taken to a table and within minutes the server approached with warm freshly baked garlic knots and asked if we would like to order any drinks or appetizers. Cranelli's has amazing happy hour deals on fabulous appetizers. We enjoyed every single bite of everything we tried and the drink deals were great, too. But the magic really happened with the entrees. I always order the chicken cacciatore. The level of the flavor and the intensity of flavor honestly feels like a party in my mouth. There is so much food if you get the full size, which I do, just so I will deliberately have leftovers. I got four meals out of my full size cacciatore! Mama Mia! My dining companion had the lasagna and we both Ooo'd and ahhh'd over it. Every bite so delicious. Our bill was so reasonable and we can't wait to go back!!!

FOOD: Gallo has a complete menu of every Italian restaurant staple you can make, and its feel of authenticity is enhanced by the wide variety of pasta and baked goods in a shop up front (which you can add to your check to have for dessert). The garlic knots are mandatory to order; I would go there for just a meal of them. My wife subbed in gnocchi for pasta in a vodka sauce, both of which were quite good. I had a lasagna Bolognese which was tasty, but a bit heavy on the bechemel and a little too overall soft (lasagna shouldn't squish). We had a couple of desserts from the bakery, and they were decadently spectacular. Cocktails were also quite good. SERVICE: This place felt like, if you showed up twice, they'd welcome you into the family, ask about your kids, come over and visit, etc. This made things friendly (even with strangers), but made the service only good, not great. AMBIANCE: The place looks to have been redecorated recently, and is stylish and comfortable. Almost too stylish -- the "supper club" / "mia famiglia" image just didn't quite work with the high-end decor. TIP: The place is in downtown Englewood on Broadway -- but has a great public parking lot behind. NET-NET: a darned good place -- but not enough for the distance we'd usually need travel to it, compared to darned good Italian places we have closer to home. I would never turn down an invitation from friends to join them there, but it wouldn't be my first choice to go to.

It is not near my home, so I look for reasons to visit. My latest no-brainer excuse is to indulge in a nice meal prior to concerts from at Swallow Hill Music Center, located across the street from Colore. Last night was one of these nights. Quite the date night for me and my husband--a full meal at Colore and a Face Vocal Band concert at Swallow Hill! Colore has all the traditional American-Italian favorites, including lasagne and other creative pasta dishes (is the pasta homemade? I'm not sure, but it's yum!), chicken parm/picatta/marsala/saltimbocca, steak, fish, it is all very high quality and creative cooking. Pizza and calzones are also available. The prices are incredibly reasonable. Don't forget to glance at the cocktail menu, where they've tailored cocktails to include amaro, Campari, aperol, and limoncello to delicious result. Try the Italian Greyhound with Boulder Spirits gin and aperol, the Black Manhattan with Stranahan's whiskey and amaro, or the Italian margarita with Campari. And the wine list is reasonable, too, with a few high end Italian choices by the bottle, and many options by the glass to keep your budget down for the evening. And sangria? Yes, please! The desserts all have a nice Italian twist, as well. Cannoli, Tiramisu, gelato, and other indulgences. My FAVORITE THING? The garlic knots that come out with every meal, along with olive oil and balsamic for dipping. These are just heavenly, yeasty, soft, unforgettable. There is also always a special or two which we have found to be perhaps the most exciting and delicious on the menu. Last night, my husband ordered the salmon special. This piece of wonderful salmon was stuffed with lump blue crab and spinach, and had a white sauce with fennel and I forget what else, which was simply heaven. It was placed on a dollop of polenta. He ate every last bite. I opted for the vegetable lasagne, which didn't disappoint. A three-inch cube of lasagne, covered in their homemade marinara, with all the veggies--spinach, broccoli, artichoke, mushroom, zucchini. And of course, the requisite ricotta and mozzarella/parm layers. When we were sufficiently stuffed, we decided to share a dessert. Given the nice spring weather, we were drawn to the carrot cake with pineapple, walnuts, and berries, and a scoop of pistachio gelato. This carrot cake was a little two-layer individual round tower; they layer filled with pineapple sweetness and topped with a walnut cream. Strawberries and whip on the side made it feel healthy (lol). The pistachio gelato was the perfect accompaniment (we always need ice cream, right?), with little crunchy pistachios mixed in, as one would hope it would have. Our server was bubbly, very nice, and efficient. It was a great meal. I should also mention that they have takeout. How great would that be to have in your neighborhood? I noticed when I went online to make reservations, that Colore has just opened a Littleton location. I would like to submit a request--next location opening--Downtown Golden! That's my town, and I would love to have Colore take-out every week. And date night even more often. If no luck with getting a location in Golden, I will continue to keep my eye out for Face Vocal Band concerts at Swallow Hill, so that I have a great excuse to make my way down to South Broadway for a wonderful meal at Colore.
