I brought my dog to Emergency Animal Hospital of Collin County during a medical emergency expecting compassionate care, clear communication, and transparency. Instead, my family and I left feeling frustrated, uninformed, and deeply disappointed. After my dog was initially examined, I was given an estimate for treatment. I agreed to the estimate and authorized the hospital to proceed. Shortly afterward, I was presented with a higher estimate before anyone clearly explained my dog's condition. Throughout my visit, I repeatedly tried to understand what was happening with my dog. I wanted to know whether he was stable, what diagnosis was being considered, what treatment had been performed, and what the next steps were. Unfortunately, I felt that conversations focused primarily on approving additional treatment costs rather than keeping me informed about my dog's medical condition. Because I was uncomfortable with the lack of communication, I decided to pay for the services already provided and continue my dog's care with his primary veterinarian. I was not refusing to pay. I simply wanted to transfer my dog's care. Instead of respecting that decision, I was repeatedly questioned about leaving and encouraged to remain at the hospital. During an emergency involving a beloved pet, I found that extremely stressful and discouraging. After leaving, I called the hospital to obtain the name of the employee involved so I could accurately document my concerns. I was told the hospital could not provide the employee's name because they were "outsourced." I found that response disappointing because, regardless of employment arrangements, everyone interacting with clients represents the hospital. The only documentation I received after paying $500.91 was a payment receipt. I was not provided with an itemized invoice, treatment summary, examination findings, discharge instructions, or other documentation explaining my dog's care. This review is not about the cost of emergency veterinary care. Emergency medicine is expensive, and I understand that. My concern is the lack of communication, the way my family was treated, and the overall experience during one of the most stressful moments a pet owner can face. I have submitted a formal complaint to hospital leadership and requested a full review of this incident. I sincerely hope the hospital improves communication and transparency so future clients receive the information and support they deserve.

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest decisions we make as owners. Our dogs were at home, comfortable, and not fearful or anxious about what was happening. I remember one of our dogs having an emergency and having to take him to the vet. He was anxious, and it was time for me to let him go. Seeing him on the cold, metal table broke my heart. I vowed that when the time came for our other dogs, I would choose Compassionate Care. I cannot express enough how incredible this service was during such a heartbreaking time. Dr. Fiona took the time to let us say our goodbyes without rushing, providing us with the space and support we needed.

Recently we euthanized Ginger. She was fourteen with rapidly declining quality of life issues. The usual when, where, how thoughts and discussions took place over weeks . After referrals to Dr Fiona and the description of her process, the decision was made to use her. Now, each pet lover decides the type of food, level of care etc they are going to give their animal. That ranges from just enough to get by to treating them like humans. No matter your level of care, Dr Fiona will open your eyes to a level of compassion for your pet you've never witnessed. Yes, this service cost significantly more than going down to the vet's office. They come to your home and over the course of one to two hours lovingly usher your pet to the next stop. Beautiful. I highly recommend you consider Dr Fiona and her service.

I bit the bullet took her to VEG ER for Pets, only to find out she had advanced congestive heart failure. I don't believe in putting animals down, so I went for surgery. The team was great, they did everything they could ultrasound, removed 2 12 once cans of fluid which was preventing her from eating. They gave me some discounts making the emergency visit more reasonable then normal. I get home with her, let her come out of the carrier by herself, then she moved over to the couch stayed there for some time, then she jumped off the couch heading to the bedroom wobbling, then i heard the most horrible scream of pain and she just fell. I went to pick her up she was limp, I shook her and she came too, called the vet then went back, while driving to the vet she was talking to me, when I arrive, they start working on her and her heart stopped. I told them DNR. They brought me into a consoling room to be with her gave me as much time as I wanted. Finally, when I was ready to leave, they offered cremation services which was very expensive, so I declined they gave me a cardboard coffin and went back home to do some research. While conducting research I found Pet Passages online. They made the process very easy, you order online, you bring your animal in then they take care of the rest. I like the fact pricing is all up front, no games, no guesses. The owner was really nice and totally understood what I was going through, he just lost his dog a few weeks ago. He pulled Josie out put her out on the table you see here attached. The waterfall feature in the room made it perfect to hold her one last time and greave. May she rest in peace.

Losing a pet is incredibly painful, but the way they guided us through the process made it feel gentle and respectful. We are so grateful to Pet Passages & Dr. McPherson for helping Wilson cross the rainbow bridge with such compassion.

I was willing to drive the hour and a half to see Dr. Pilkington without hesitation. However, I was contacted by Custer McDermott Animal Hospital to inform me that they would no longer approve Chewy prescriptions, and I would have to drive an hour and a half to pick up a paper prescription and mail that into Chewy if I wanted to use Chewy. The vet clinic charges a lot more than Chewy so no I won't be giving Chewy up, I won't be driving an hour and a half for a slip of paper as the clinic email stated. The clinic has no power over where and how I spend my money. I will be giving up Custer McDermott Animal Hospital and sadly Dr. Pilkington. To be clear, David Pilkington is the one and only reason we have been loyal to this clinic for all these years. If not for David, we would have changed clinics years ago. Now, they have given us reason to change simply out of greed. Vet care is as expensive , meds are expensive. When the clinic makes a petty policy that costs you more money, you shop around.

They said I had to have an appointment first to "discuss the situation" This is no one's decision but mine. I felt like they did not respect my decision and how painful and hard it was to do. One, I'm not Caucasian, and I know a micro aggression when I hear one, so strike one. I let it go, but it seems every time I took him to this vet, the bill would be astronomical. I have every receipt and never paid UNDER $300. They apologize and say they don't set the prices. A little less than a month ago, I took my fur baby back to this vet for an update on shots, nail trim, eye issues and an ear infection. The meds they gave didn't work, and the ear meds made it worse. The place is NEVER packed, maybe one or two patients would be there at the same time I was. They'll never get my business again. Look at patterns in these comments and the lowest stars are from people of color. Take your fur kids to ANOTHER vet. If I could give NO stars to this hospital, I absolutely would. The service is awful depending who you are, pricey and my dog means the world to me. I would never trust them again with his health.
