I've had other music teachers and they can make you feel like a benighted orphan struggling for acceptance at the hands of an all-knowing master. How many times do you want to hear 'NO!'? Jay's not like that. Jay has the chops and he lets you learn in your own best way. I'm not super interested in learning lots of classic songs but I really dig learning about theory and song structures. He always fits the lesson to my interests in a way that is still challenging. I think music instruction is a really underappreciated skill and Jay deserves recognition for the way he helps us learners down the road.
