This place is such a gem. They have an ATM, ice, beer/wine, fresh baked goods (oh the fresh baked baguettes!), and groceries that are fresh. We noticed good grass fed meats, local wisconsin cheeses, and organic produce. They have all the staples one would need with a focus on clean eating. There is a bulk herb section and plenty of snack options available. Other items like batteries are also on the shelves. We love this place and will continue to shop when we are on the island.

I go in a few times a year, give her the total amount I want to spend on a half dozen or so bottles of wine, along with the general styles I am looking for. Then I ask her to pick wines for me. I have never been disappointed. Average prices are a bit higher than a "regular" liquor store, but I am happy to pay $15 to $25 for a bottle of wine that I can't get anywhere else (and that is generally amazing, too). The store also has an amazing selection of liquor, including many types I have never seen before. I don't drink much hard liquor, but whenever I visit this store, it makes me wish that I did. Definitely worth a look if you are in Bayfield. If you love wine or cocktails, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

And what a great find it was!! We got a few ice cream sandwiches: the chocolate, the mint, and the vanilla. All were delicious but we think the vanilla showcased the quality of the ice cream the best! The ice cream was creamy, thick, and had a perfectly smooth consistency! We also tried the cheese curds, which were probably the best we'd ever had! They were salty and squeaky and clearly made from high quality dairy. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area!

First off, she won't serve anyone who is on their cell phone so make sure your pictures are taken after you visit. I appreciated this as it reminded me of my time in France where patrons are encouraged to stay, mingle and live in a world without screens. I wish we had more of this. Secondly, she doesn't have a cell phone. She lives on the island with a good old fashioned land line. Again, if you ask me, I love this for her. I told her that Mission Hill had great Yelp reviews and she giggled asking who is even writing about these things. All this to say, if you want to support local when in Madeline Island, this is a great opportunity, Mission Hill also carries produce such as vegetables in season and other local pantry items such as honey and syrup. There are all sorts of other items as well like beeswax candles, sweatshirts and board games. My husband ordered a regular coffee and I got a hot Americano with a shot of vanilla. Both were normal and nothing extra or fancy. In summary, this shop brought me so much joy and simplicity. I hope to live my life in my older age similar to the owner. Thank you for inspiring me!!!
