My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Cassidy for both our engagement session and our…read morewedding. I'd come across her work back in 2008 and continued to follow her incredible photography throughout the years until the stars aligned and she was available for our July 2016 wedding. We knew we wanted someone whose work we loved, that could help us capture natural moments throughout the day, and could create photos we didn't even know we would want (us not being professional wedding photographers and all). Not to mention, we wanted someone we could trust and feel comfortable with. From our first Skype call with Cassidy, we knew it was a done deal. Cassidy was willing to meet us in San Francisco where we live for an engagement session. We spent the day at the SF botanical gardens as well as the Sutro Baths/Land's End. Cassidy found great spots for us that both captured the gorgeous winter light as well as us. :) We had an incredible day out with her. Most impressive was her ability to make us comfortable. We can be kind of awkward folks and Cassidy was able to coax out our natural selves while she snapped away. When we got our images well in advance of Christmas (how she turns around such quality with such speed, I will never know), we were so happy. They were just what we wanted. The wedding photography was even more special. With as stressful as weddings can be, we knew we never had to worry about Cassidy; she's all over it. When I realized I had forgotten my wedding band and it wouldn't be available for detail shots, Cassidy came up with a secondary plan. When we--the wedding party--was running a bit behind, she made it seem like the most natural thing in the world. Cassidy is a total pro and is such a warm, generous human being. She commands large groups of people well, without being pushy. She was able to gather all of our guests for one huge shot in what must've been two minutes. When she could tell I was getting quite hot in the 100-degree Colorado summer heat, she didn't hesitate to help me lift up my gown a little to let some air in. She's just a doll and talented as hell. Cassidy's second shooter, Lauren, was also fantastic. I knew anyone that Cassidy was going to trust I should trust, too. And we saw the proof in the photos. Some of my favorite things about working with Cassidy: - Her sense of style and how she composes photos. The crops she produces are just genius. - She knows color and light. Just trust her with both of those things. - Her personality. She's vibrant and energetic and loves connecting with people. She actually cares about her clients and how they met, why they love each other. Her clients' stories become part of her story. - Her professionalism isn't cold...it's hard to explain, but Cassidy commands respect in what she does without losing her fantastic warmth and understanding. She gets shit done and you just love her for it. - During the ceremony, I never noticed Cassidy or Lauren. But I know they were there because of the photos. They make themselves invisible on a day that is all about you. What a talent. - She's intrepid. Cassidy doesn't love snakes, we learned, and yet she was all about tramping in high grass with us to get beautiful shots. Cassidy may not be for you if: - You have a very narrow, well-defined view of what you want and you just want someone to execute it. One of Cassidy's strengths is her creativity. I would've missed out on most of my favorite photos if it weren't for Cassidy's suggestions. There were definitely photos we wanted that Cassidy helped us capture, and she's all for it. But if you're *only* interested in your plan, you may want another photographer. - You have almost no budget for photography. My husband and I agreed early on that we were going to splurge on photography, and we did. There were certainly less expensive photographers around, but we weren't willing to compromise on the quality of our photos. Instead, we did less of other things that didn't matter to us as much. I know we'll be seeing Cassidy again for other big moments in our lives. We continue to love our wedding photos and working with Cassidy was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding. Thank you, Cassidy!
