This is crazy!!! Went on a tour at the Andrew low house with my mom and stepdad. Decided it would be cute to take a selfie of us together in the house at the mirror in the hallway upstairs. Upon returning to our Airbnb decided to go through our pictures. Initially I was sad because my stepdad was blacked out in the pic. However upon looking at it closely, we noticed a face next to my mom. We all examined the pic and were tripping out over it. We did some research and there were other pics online confirming of the same sighting. I think it's the veiled face! read more

Arriving in Savannah on Juneteenth, I realized some of the sites I wanted to see were closed. One of those sites was the Juliette Low Museum, the founder of the Girl Scouts. What I didn't realize was that the Andrew Low house was nearby. He, of course, became one of the richest people in Savannah in the 1800s and had this house to show of his massive wealth. We stuck around for a tour that lasted about 45 minutes. Was pretty informative and learned a lot of things about Juliette that carried over to when we saw the museum a couple days later. One of the cool things we saw was an upright grand piano, of which only 3 exist in the entire world. That was pretty cool. This was a fun respite from the heat and wasn't overly expensive. read more

I've been here for the Girl Scout tour and now the Ghost tour and what a difference! I love that I could come back to another place I have been and learn more. We learned the history of the house and how tragic it was. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, overall it was a great tour! read more

Everyone in this historic house was friendly and knowledgeable. I was apparent an unusual guest taking the self guided tour. I like taking my time at my pace. Excellent videos for parts of the house and the docents checked with me at the. Whining and end to see if I had questions. Probably the best historic experience I had in Savannah this visit. Highly recommend if you like historic homes. read more

If you love historic homes and history, Savannah is a great place to visit. On a recent weekend get-away I chose to tour the Andrew Low House which is located in the lovely Lafayette Square. I was just a couple of minutes late for a tour. Rather than have me wait, the lady at the desk, suggested I catch up to the tour and pay the admission ($11) after I finished the tour. I thought that was very nice. Gloria, our docent, was well versed in the history, furnishings, and architectural details of the home. I enjoyed both seeing the home and learning about it. Even though, quite 'fancy' it felt like a family home. Juliette Gordon Low, famous for founding the Girl Scouts, was the wife of Andrew Low's son, William MacKay Low. After the tour I got the 'tea' from the lady who collected my money. Old William was having an affair and in the process of divorcing her when he suddenly died. It was messy but she ended up getting the house instead of the mistress. Many of the early Girl Scout activities were conducted at the home. Highly recommended! read more

The tour was a great experience. Our guide was every knowledgeable and informative, and was able to speak to the family and historical context of the time. They also highlighted Juliette Gordon Low and Thomas and Mosianna Milledge. I would definitely recommend stopping here when in Savannah! read more

I came here because it was one of the stops for the ghosts and grave stone tour at night. It was a bit freaky since they spoke about things that go on at night. I'm not sure if it is all speculation or not, but I sure had goosebumps. I never came here during the daytime, so I'm not sure if it's any different. The room upstairs with all of the dolls gave me the chills. We didn't get much time downstairs since we rushed through it all. Maybe it would have been a different experience in a different circumstance. read more

We did the self guided tour. It was interesting and informative. The way they set it up did nothing show how they fit 12 children into the place, and some of the furnishings were not period correct. The pre-a/c heat management strategies they used were "cool." read more

Well maintained historical home of Andrew Low Our tour guide Kylee did a really nice job of explaining the history the family , the rooms and art. My daughter and I were both girl scouts so it was awesome to learn about the daughter in law Juliette Gordon Low who founded the Girl Scouts and did much of the early planning from the home. It was also neat to learn of Robert E Lee's visits there and he asked to be godfather of the youngest daughter. read more

the tour was great! our guide was very informative about the history of the house, the family, and the town. the only reason i gave it 4 starts was because it is not ADA compliant. i understand preserving the history of the house is a very big part of this reason, just be advised that the only way into the house and upstairs is by stairs if you have other means of mobility! read more

Well run and organized visit. Tours are guided every half an hour. Our guide was very informative and easy to understand. It is always nice visiting city, town and any museum to learn the historical part and inside of the historical event and in this visit influence of wealthy families to local politics, social life. This house for me was interested mostly for architectural influence for the time when was built. I believe is worthy to spent an hour and enjoy the tour. read more

Interesting historical facts provided by the tour guides. Our guide was very friendly and personable. I am not necessarily a history type person but she was able to make it come alive with the connections to Robert Lee, Baden Powell and of course the Girl Scouts. While the house tours are not really my thing they did a great job in all aspects so earned four stars. read more

Perfect introduction to Savannah. Start here at this drop dead gorgeous house for a better understanding of what Savannah is really about. The property is beautifully furnished in period pieces and staffed with knowledgeable guides who politely answer the same dumb questions day after day. This is a "must do" before beginning the parties and sampling the night life of Savannah. Someday someone may ask what they should see in Savannah. This is likely among the first things that come to mind. read more

We had a wonderful visit to this house museum yesterday. The architecture & decor are both very impressive. The house is owned & operated by the Colonial Dames, & they maintain it very, very well. This house is a great example of an Antebellum home. I also want to give praise to our tour guide, Eve, who did an excellent job. read more

Overall this was a nice place to visit. This is solely based on an evening visit, as I never made it in there during the daytime. When you come in, you start in the parlor. They do split the group into two, but even then the groups are still pretty big, making it hard to understand the info being presented by the staff. On the first floor, you'll be able to see the library and dining room area. The dining room was used for business and other types of meets after dinner as well. The bedrooms are on the second floor, including the Low bedroom. Overall, it doesn't take a long time to visit this place, including the gardens. Just a note though, pictures can only be taken in the evening only when part of the Ghosts and Gravestones tour. If you're visiting Savannah, it's worth at least looking at if you are into history. read more

Liked - Liked - Liked - Liked - Liked - Liked - Liked - Liked Went on a haunted ghost tour, this wasn't the best. Pretty cheesy.. but the Andrew Low House was nice.. Antiques The bath room was the most interesting feature of the house to me.. Disliked - Disliked - Disliked - Disliked - Disliked - Disliked I'm thinking this particular activity just isn't my thing. Our tour guide seemed knowledgeable, but I was kind of bored to be honest. The house was just.... a house. read more

This was a great but quick spot along the Ghost trolley tour. The home is well kept and the tour is fairly short bevause there are only a brief top and bottom portion to the house. But this also makes it a quick and easy stop for the family who likes exploring some city history. For covid precautions they did require masks on inside the building and split our tour group in 2 to accomodate for the small spacing in the home. read more

Beautiful house, better to tour it in individual tour though. The "Ghost Tour" was not that great. Especially since you are sandwiched into small spaces with lots of people. And unless you are super interested in antiques, you could be bored. The tour itself was too short, mostly a lot of information, very short ride on tour bus. read more

If I could, I would give a zero star for this so called self guided tour. The tour guide old woman constantly ignored my questions and left me and my husband alone while she was eager and willing to answer or help the other three tourist in the group,l. I hope it's not because I'm the only Asian in the 5 people group. I would give her credits for providing patient help and answers to the other white folks, but constantly ignoring me or my questions about the house really made me wonder if she also inherited the colonial 'racist' attitude towards non Caucasians. Avoid this place if you would like a descent tour or would like to be treated respectfully as a person during your tour read more

Great place to visit! I also took some pictures in this house and had an unexpected visitor appear in a picture! Taking that picture in the Robert E. Lee room! Love to hear some people's thoughts! read more

What a lovely tour! This house is put together and every furniture piece fairly reflects the period. For $9 with the AAA discount, the tour was a steal. I loved that they had original pieces and complimented them with equally impressive additions that matched the time period of the house. I had a lovely guide, who embodied Southern Charm and I was lucky enough to have a solo tour. On this tour, you get to see two stories of this home, a very modern bathroom for the time and this house is impeccably decorated, especially for the holiday. I wish I could have seen the carriage house, but that wasn't a part of the tour, but possibly something they should consider for future tours. read more

Step inside the Andrew Low house and step back in time. Beautifully preserved, this lovely home is the site of short and informative tour. We were a small group of 6 people, so it was easy to hear our guide. She took her time and told us stories of the Low family and a few of Savannah in general. We had time to look into each room and marvel at the furnishings, how small the nursery was compared to the number of kids who stayed in it with their nanny, and the "modern" bathroom. A AAA card earns a discounted tour of $7 for adults and $5 for kids. There are many lovely homes in Savannah. If you are walking by, stop in and enjoy a bit of history here. read more

Most uncomfortable tour I have ever been on. The guide really got off on Robert E. Lee; between that and her recounting every disagreement she had ever had with other guests I couldn't wait for the tour to be over. Here's one example: Guide: "What do people want me to say, that the Lows whipped their slaves right there in the middle of the square? Ok, they might have but after the war all of their slaves stayed on here at the house!" and then she gave this oddly triumphant smile. Check out the Mercer Williams house or any other house and don't waste your time and money on this one. Low house as in how low can a tour go. read more

We visited this house in the daytime and in the night time for a ghost tour. Starting with the day tour: there were beautiful antique furnishings in the house that were period originals (there are NO reproductions in the house, and many of the pieces are quite expensive). Our guide started off by telling us about Andrew Low, the man the house was built for, and his three different wives, one of who never got to live there. The house was relatively small compared to some of the other historic homes in the area that can be touted especially since they do not let you into what would have been the kitchen area. I have seen some review complain of the fact that they do not take you through the carriage house, but Juliette Gordon Low left the house to the Colonial Dames, and the carriage house to the Girl Scouts so they are two independent historical tours that do not operate with each other. This may be something that they could work to fix, by that is the current setup. I do wish that our guide had said a little bit more about Juliette or what she was like during her time at the home, but it was still a fun home to tour and worth the $10. The night tour is a little more disappointing. Definitely a lot less information, by they are also not trained docents. I did think that they could have better told us who the ghosts were that people had apparently seen on the tour before us, but our guide literally forgot that a child had died in the house and really only remembered at the last minute. The stories that they told were interesting, and they did do a get job of connecting the ghost stories historically to people who accruals loved and worked in the house. read more

Lovely home with rich roots in Savannah. Restoration details are remarkable. An upscale beauty. Our tour guide was informative and friendly. The home is beautiful. Take note: there are stairs on this tour. read more

I was not overly impressed with the tour. The house itself was interesting, but I wish they made smaller groups with the tour to make it more personable. The larger group size made it hard to hear when our guide was in one room and we were in the other due to the size of the group. It brought the quality of the tour down loosing interest. The history of the house was neat since its connected to Juliette Gordon Low, who started the Girl Scouts of America. I prefer the Owens-Thomas house due to more engaging tour guide, more interaction with the group (because the size was smaller), and the house itself was more to see. You did not see the basement to this house, only the first and second floor. The one positive thing to the house was the history of Robert E Lee to the family. He was the godfather of the Low children and made frequent visits to the Andrew Low home. There is a bedroom dedicated to him since he frequently slept there when visiting. read more

Overall, this is a worthwhile stop in the city of Savannah, but not incredibly so. Tip: Try to join a smaller tour if possible, perhaps either the opening tour or after 12:30pm Here is my breakdown of the exhibit: The architecture and interior furnishings 5/5 - It's been carefully restored and many antiques, pertaining to the Low family history, were retrieved for show in this house The tour 3/5 - Our tour guide was helpful and enthusiastic, but the historical overview was presented quickly and in fragments, which was difficult for me to follow. - The tour I joined (around noon), had a large group of about 16. It was fine, but smaller would have been better. The entry/exit shop 3/5 - Some items of interest to buy (replicas of china, colonial goods), but for the most part, I was not too taken by the items. read more

There is a $10 entrance fee for the home . The tour was presented by a lovely souther lady which reminded me of the story telling in Fried Green Tomatoes . We enjoyed the tour . Short and you know the money goes for upkeep. read more

Wanted to do a tour when they opened, but they had a girl scout troop coming. Maybe next time

Pretty great house kinda set off from others more than its counterparts.

Very boring and overpriced. Tour guide's enthusiasm and manor resembled that of a sloth.

I received a very gracious apology today from the Andrew Low house and a full refund. I was very pleased they wrote me back.

My friend and I arrived about a half a hour early (we didn't know the tour times), so we took a walk around the block. We got back to the house when the tour was suppose to start, but the tour already begun. Our tour guide was a knowledgeable older man. Just make sure to stay with the group. A couple on our tour lagged behind, and the guide got rather upset/flustered an kept telling them not to wander off. I felt bad for the couple. The house is really beautiful. It is interesting to hear the perspective on Juliette G. Low's husband on this tour and compare it to the perspective heard on the tour at her birthplace. There are no photos allowed inside the house. read more

The house itself is just as nice as the others we visited, and the history is interesting, as always, to me. The tour guide was the detractor here. She spoke WAY too quickly and we had trouble keeping up with what she was saying. She even seemed to have issues with her own pace, as she had to stop and catch her breath on a few occasions. She didn't seem to know as much history about the house or previous owners. This was disappointing. A nice place to stop, but I wouldn't make it a choice against some of the others, such as Owen Thomas or Juliette Low if you are short on time. read more

It was a very good tour, the gardens are exquisite. The carriage house in the back was where the girl scouts first met. We had a fantastic docent (Harriet?) who explained the rare and beautiful furniture that is found in this home. This was our favorite of the 4 or so historic homes we visited in Savannah.
