It's definitely a local watering hole. Be very prepared for all the stares. Staff is bubbly and nice. Dude on the grill is working his butt off. You don't visit this place for the ambiance. Its in a warehouse with concrete floors, concrete and aluminum siding, wobbly tables with chairs whos better days were before ALF was on NBC. It also shares a parking lot full of potholes with an auto body shop. With that out the way the menu is pretty big its south texas fare. Traditional Tex-mex with traditional all american dishes. Food is good and price is average. We always pick up breakfast tacos on our way out of town.

Passing through, we quickly realized this city doesn't offer many options, so we stopped here hoping for something decent. While the waitresses were kind and did their best, the experience overall was disappointing. Despite the sign asking customers to "wait patiently," my party of four waited over an hour for very basic food. What made it worse was watching tables who arrived after us get their meals first. By the time our food came, it was just... average. Nothing special, certainly not worth the long wait. We left feeling let down and won't be returning. read more

Food was great! Good tasting Mexican food. We had an enchilada plate and also a carne guisada plate, food was tasty and delicious. This was our first time, but we plan on going again. The entrance of this place is on the side. It's seems like it's a small place size wise, but you'll see it is spacious as soon as you walk in. Service was great and very attentive. read more

Came here today with my husband from Dallas and amazing service and the food was EXCELLENT This was the best Mexican food I have ever tasted. Every plate came out hot fresh and full of rich authentic flavor. The tacos were seasoned perfectly the and the beans were amazing, the salsa had the perfect kick. Stopped here today when we got in town! I ordered a California Burrito and my wife got the steak fajitas! Both came with yummy beans and dry rice! Service was the only negative here, it was very slow! read more

If you happen to be in or driving thru this tiny south Texas town, definitely stop by Andreas for a bite to eat. They won't disappoint. My husband has been working in the area for a few weeks and he always goes here. We came for a visit and I decided to give them a try... glad I did. I found the food surprisingly good for a border town. Maybe not all are the same but I have been to a few and it's nothing like San Antonio :)... I had the menudo and it was good. The meat was firm and the flavor was yummy. And yes. You can absolutely mess that up but they did well. Kiddos had bean tacos and the chicken and cheese quesadillas. They were hot and cheesy. The chicken was seasoned well. The service really good. It's a tiny place but they still make sure they check back and see if you need anything and keep the good stuff coming. Tastey bistec ranchero and good service. Friendly place to drop in and grab a bite. Old school look from the outside and very local feel.

The chips and salsa was the best part. Their salsa is good. The chili cheese fries comes with chili con carne sauce that's used for the cheese enchiladas, not actual chili. The cheese enchiladas were very cheesy and just okay. They use H-E-B tortillas and they charge for tortillas. We're used to tortillas coming with your plate. read more

"Andrea's Cafe" has excellent food at very low prices. I ordered "parrillada for one". Definitely the best version of this dish I have had in the US, and cost only $10 for a large serving. Food quality was exceptional all around, and the waitstaff are very friendly. The building is older and needs some maintenance, but I grew up in New Orleans, so I'm used to dining at restaurants in worn-out buildings. The women's bathroom was in excellent condition. The dining area was clean as well as the utensils. I am glad we found this restaurant on the way home from SPI. We are definitely going to come here again on the next beach trip. read more

I love authentic Mexican food and it's hard to find Texas because of the whole tex-mex movement. However, this restaurant did a great job of offering authentic Mexican food in addition to the tex-mex offerings that Texans are so accustomed to. The carne asada tacos are so good I ordered a second plate of them (even though I was full from the first order). The service was great too, so it's a win-win. We were passing through on a road trip with 6 people and each and every person was more than satisfied with their meal. read more
