And if you are good at what you do, why would you have to. I almost hired Jeanie to help me with redoing my resume and consulting on what appropriate places of employment would be ideal to apply to based on the strength finder test. She did make a few changes to my existing resume, but I wasn't impressed. Thanked her but it left a lot to be desired. Red flags definitely went up when she referred to my being empathetic as a negative since Empathy is one of my top 5 strengths. Red flags because there is no weaknesses in your strengths when it comes to strength finder. That's the entire point of the system. Instead of trying to improve weaknesses in a career setting, strength finder teaches how to utilize your strengths. This led me to check to see if she was CERTIFIED by Clifton and strength finder and I learned she wasn't. https://www.gallup.com/learning/certification/en/directory - Her website states she is trained, which in my opinion is misleading. I did find a wonderful CERTIFIED coach and it's a world of difference. They're positive and upbeat and definitely know what they are talking about. I had also hired her for tutoring my son some years ago and to help my daughter with essay writing for college application. While I appreciated her help with my son, I didn't realize she hired college and HS students to tutor the kids while charging the rates that she does. More recently I hired a math tutor for my son, paying the same rate, but it was one on one tutoring, and there definitely was a difference. To each their own, but not the sort of place or person I want to do business with.

Jeanie at Finding Strengths completely changed my son's feelings about himself and learning!…read moreAnother mom recommended Jeanie last summer and my son (then 9) worked with her all summer. My son has significant learning disabilities and is falling through the cracks of public school special education which has led to low self esteem, frustrations, anxiety and even school refusal. He told me with tears in his eyes, "Mom, I'm just not a school person" After a summer with Jeanie, this completely changed! He was excited every week to go! He was excited to start the school year this year and he has been asking me monthly, if not weekly WHEN he can start LEARNING with Ms. Jeanie again! He is so excited to be seeing her again! I am so grateful that he feels so seen and supported by Ms. Jeanie and is starting to believe in himself again!

I can't say I gained the courage to take the plunge after our sessions to pursue my true passion(s) in life, but I did get closer to my true self in my career path. Sometimes the more measured, incremental approach is wiser anyways. Jessica helped me with closing the door on a past career that was not the right fit, which had been hard to let go of. It is challenging to get anywhere in 4 sessions with a new coach, but I was surprised by the amount of ground we covered. I could have probably used 8 sessions with Jessica, and would have happily done that but due to finances this was what I could afford. Jessica's style was more directive and she offered greater guidance than other coaches I've tried (where sessions meander and lack progress). I liked that. Her services are more expensive than others out there (the only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars), but she is a very good life coach and anyone who works with her is bound to benefit. She is good at responding via email also.

The very first session that I had with Jessica, I wanted to work on my relationship to divine partnership. This was a concept that Jessica was perfectly able to speak into. Very quickly she let me empty all of the thoughts that I had in my head out.. all of my complaints, beliefs, self-talk, etc. She gently guided me through my body to begin to discover the truths that I was working with inside. Much of it was discover of the answers that were in my body, waiting to be heard. The whole time, Jessica was tuned into my field and was able to give me a beautiful and accurate reflection of what was happening inside me. This skillset of hers greatly helped my navigation of my own energetic and emotional landscape, as if felt like I had another set of eyes seeing inside myself. Jessica works on a quantum level with her clients, so expect some quantum weirdness (as in surprise miracles). I found her skillset to be far advanced from what you might get from the average therapist/coach. This was profound stuff, and she was able to navigate it simply and economically with time. My second session I wanted to work with her on body image, my relationship to beauty, my own sense of self-love, and my relationship to the marketplace of single life. This was a subtle issue for me, as I've done a lot of work on it, do healing work on other people around it, and know it well. Trite answers were not going to be enough for it. Jessica was able to reveal more of the structure of my thinking and what agreements and ideas had anchored unuseful paradigms in place. Jessica again used so much of the intelligence that was already alive in my body and in my field. She was able to navigate the hologram of my reality adeptly, moving very quickly to the juice of it. Even more important... my body has been amazingly tingly all the way through each session. Usually within 5-10 minutes of talking to her, I already feel my body beginning to release and go into an energy shift with lots of yawning and tearing up at my eyes. This is always a sure-fire way for me to know something is lifting. Truly a gem. You will not find an experience of this caliber in many places. Worth driving to or working over the internet with. I live in Portland, OR and I am glad that I can connect with her over the internet.

Surely it wasn't the experience, I've had great experience. A friend suggested I try working with Kris, a career coach who would be able to help me with my resume. I thought, why not, I must be doing something wrong here. We met at a coffee shop after I had sent her my current resume. In the most polite way, she ripped it apart. She clearly outlined the steps needed to fix my resume, and gave me a quote then and there. I was sold! Even though she admitted to never working on a resume in my profession before (audio production), she was all in. We set up successive phone meetings to talk about my resume. She is really concerned about getting the resume to read like "my story." She took the time to understand the 'audio lingo' necessary for my resume. Not after long I had a completely rewritten resume that was polished, concise and 1,000 times better than I could have written. I've always found it hard to write about my accomplishments. The way it is written now is spectacular! After the success of a well written resume, I had her take a go on my LinkedIn profile. It was sparse, poorly written, and I felt it didn't represent me. She didn't just re-write my resume, she tailored it for social media. With both my LinkedIn profile updated and resume, I feel much more confident searching for jobs. To summarize Kris: professional, honest, great business ethics, great writer! When I land the next interview, I will definitely be utilizing her services to prep for it. Thanks Kris!

Lucas took the time to really try and understand my career situation, so that we could formulate a plan that was unique to me. We started with career aptitude tests which helped me learn more about myself. We defined and prioritized my career goals, and explored the many paths I could take to reach them. Also, Lucas is a resume magician, transforming my plain, wordy resume into a much more impressive, concise one. He also helped me with my LinkedIn profile which I appreciate since I am a total LinkedIn newbie. He basically did almost everything he could to set me up for success. I worked with Max on calculus 2 tutoring from November 2020-April 2021. I had just failed calc 2…read moreand getting a tutor was my last hope and I am so happy I found Max! Max has a ton of resources available besides your own textbook and homework. For example I struggled with topics in calculus 2 that were foundational steps from pre-cal and calc 1 - thankfully Max had pdf textbooks and resources for pre cal and calc 1 that he could easily share with me so I didn't have to waste time searching on google or YouTube for help. When I first met Max I was feeling very overwhelmed, embarrassed, and severely lacked confidence in math. After having a few sessions with him I noticed how supportive he was and how much he genuinely cared about me understanding the material even if it took hours and multiple tries for me to understand it. He never made me feel judged or less than and that was one of the best feelings. The style of tutoring that I did with max was Monday Wednesday Fridays for 1 hour each on zoom. I would listen to my calc 2 lectures & work on the homework problems and when I came a across a topic/problem that I struggled with I would clearly identify what I was confused about. Then after I identified the issue I would email max a detailed explanation of why I was struggling with this specific problem and I would attach a screenshot of my attempted work on the problem. This style of tutoring worked tremendously well for me! Because I would clearly tell max what exact problems/topics I wanted to go over ahead of time we were able to maximize each tutoring sessions together! Max is not the type of tutor who is going to do your homework for you - so if that is what you are looking for then I'm sorry. But if you are a hard worker, genuinely try each problem, take good notes, and care to learn then Max is the tutor for you :) I failed calc 2 with a D in fall 2020 semester. I re-took it in spring 2021 semester with having Max as my tutor and I finished with a 95% in the class. I could go on and on about how thankful I am to have found Max as my tutor, but if you have any questions or want to know more about my own experience feel free to email me at hannahajax7@gmail.com

Not only did Max get me to where I needed to be to pass Statistics, he also showed me approaches to learning that helped me become a much more successful and confident student overall. I am an older re-entry student, and I had little confidence in my math skills which were rusty at best!. Max was able to guide me through complex material in a way that was compatible with my learning style and knowledge gaps. He did not so much "teach" me statistics.... he showed me how to approach the material and the concepts and we built a framework for learning that was very successful. Max embodies the very best skills of an experienced tutor and coach. He was with me through the entire semester step by step. We are now tackling Chemistry together. Max is a winning combination with insight and wisdom and the ability to partner with students.
