It's never fun to bring your dog to the vet in an emergency. Add to it, a dog that is a rescue, was…read moreseverely abused before you got him, and is now aggressive towards anyone that doesn't live in your house. This is our life, and our fur baby, Vince. Vince has cancer - but we're making the best of it and giving him his best life for as long or as short as it will be! We were on a road trip with him when one of the tumors on his belly burst open and wouldn't stop bleeding. 18 hours drive away from home and our own trusted vet, we turned to AVES asking for an emergency surgery on our aggressive, bleeding pup.
The entire staff at AVES was amazing - they were accommodating of our unreasonable asks, understanding of our challenging situation, and worked with us every step of the way. They met us in the parking lot, in the rain, to give the first sedation shot - and when that didn't work and they have to administer a second shot, they let my husband help them in the back room to ensure Vince was taken care of. They were communicative, kept us in the loop, and set reasonable expectations for us. They put the realities and risks of the situation in front of us using a compassionate approach, but without sugar coating anything. We appreciated their very honest conversations with us, as hard as they might have been to hear.
In follow ups with our own vet, AVES was able to provide records quickly and in a format they could access. Vince is now all healed up, recovery was smooth and he's back to his happy self!
The offices are clean, welcoming, comfortable. There is a restroom and even a little station where you can grab coffee, tea, or a soda while you wait.
While I hope that I never see any of the staff at AVES again, if we did need to make an emergency stop at a vet in Little Rock, I would not hesitate to return to this facility.
Thank you to everyone who was there for us this month - we appreciate all of you!
