I came to Andrea because she had great reviews on here, especially for short hair. I recently moved to the area and unfortunately, the first hairdresser I tried (different salon) gave me a terrible haircut. I was so upset, and worried about losing even more length and having to take a gamble on another new hairdresser. But man, am I grateful to have found Andrea! She listened to me, was empathetic and asked me clarifying questions about what I wanted. And then she got to work. I can hardly believe how wonderfully it turned out! She took a nightmare canvas and turned it into a masterpiece. Not only does it look great, but it *feels* great. She shaped it perfectly, working with my ornery cowlicks and all. She really took her time to make sure everything was balanced just right, and then she only charged me for a cleanup haircut as opposed to a full haircut, even though I'm pretty sure it was just as much work, if not more, having to start with the other hairdresser's mess of a cut. Andrea is an incredibly talented stylist, especially when it comes to curly hair. I left San Diego to go to medical school in Utah and I travel all over the country for rotations, but I always come back to her. When I wanted to chop off my long hair for a pixie, she made it look fantastic. When I started getting chilly working in the OR with short hair and decided to grow it out, she made the whole process so graceful. I never had a bad hair day while growing out a pixie and that is nothing short of a miracle. I could not agree more with the previous reviews! Andrea is fantastic. For a long time she kept my mid-back length hair looking healthy and great. She is great at listening to what you're looking for, as well as giving suggestions if you're looking to change your look a bit. About a year ago she helped me donate to Locks for Love by chopping 12 inches off, leaving me with a sassy bob. I decided to get a pixie cut just this past weekend and am so happy with how Andrea pulled it off. A pixie leaves very little margin of error and she was slow and patient the entire time since I was a bit nervous. She made tiny adjustments until I was very happy with the result. Long or short hair, I have adored every haircut from Andrea. If you are thinking of making a big change to your look, or going to a pixie cut, this is your girl. Another thing that's great about her is that she's simply a fun, cool person to hang out with for an hour during your haircut! Also, I love her new salon, Dragonfly Hair Salon. There's free parking behind the building, which is great for an Adams Avenue business. The inside is charming and artsy and I plan to get take out from the restaurant across the street every time I go (Soda and Swine). Best stylist / barber ever! I first started going to Andrea when she worked at ARCS in pacific Beach. I was a walk-in searching for a new brave soul to take on the fierce battle that is cutting my hair. She was and still is super friendly, and very accommodating to my frequently changing styles. I was extremely saddened when she left ARCS, but not because of the location change (F*ck their house of pain style hair washing chairs!) but thrilled when she ended up at Dragonfly on Adams. It's very easy to get to and as a bonus, is across the street from Polite Provisions. It's been at least 3 years now that I've been going to her, the longest such tenure of anyone that's cut my hair. She's awesome w the clips or shears. Some times I go with a Collin Ferrel type fohawk, sometimes I feel more hipster and rock the come-over wave. I wish I could give 10 stars and a hug! First of all, I moved to SD about a year ago and have been looking for a new stylist. I found Andrea through yelp searching salons in my area with the highest reviews. Her previous salon is full of raving reviews of her work and clients frantically looking for where she moved to. I was stunned by how many genuinely positive reviews she had. I was no longer interested in that salon, just Andrea. I knew that I had to book an appointment ASAP. Luckily, a few of her clients posted on her previous salon's yelp page with Andreas new contact information. When I texted her I received an almost immediate response and set an appointment. I'm not sure if she normally works on Sundays, but I got the feeling she was working around MY schedule, right off the bat, 1 star! Andrea really took the time to talk to me until we shared the same vision for my hair, star #2! I have never been one to have a lot of patience for time spent in the salon. My appointment with Andrea took about 3 1/2 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed ever single minute. What a doll she is. I felt like I was just hanging out with a girlfriend chatting about boys and makeup. 3 stars!!! I have rarely colored my hair, only twice in my life so I was a little nervous come blow dry time. Of course it was gorgeous! Can I say that about my own hair!? I couldn't even believe how good it looked so we went outside for better lighting. At one point we stood outside with a handheld mirror while I repeated how beautiful I looked! What a great feeling. 4 stars!! Now for the wallet. Andrea gave me a very good ballpark for cost before we started, but somehow it came in much less than I had anticipated. She broke down everything I paid for, cut, color & highlight so that I understood how everything added up. 5 stars!! I was sure that my boyfriend wouldn't really notice a change, but the second I walked through the door he told me I looked beautiful. Um... I need more stars!
