I really love this park!…read more I saw the signs for it & just decided to check it out as I love to visit the Nature parks. This park is exceptionally beautiful. It has an old vintage Florida feel with gorgeous old moss covered trees, kids play areas, an old vintage railroad, tons of biking & walking/hiking trails & a giant Lilly covered pond/lake. I had such a great time the first time I went. There was wildlife everywhere & I got to video some very friendly birds. I went back again & it was even more beautiful the second time, than the first time as it had just rained & all the flowers were blooming. They have a little garden there. It's just so precious. This place is so very beautiful. I keep finding all these different trails, they are obviously working on it & making it bigger with more trails. It's a very peaceful place, Like a forgotten tropical wilderness stuck in time. I have not seen more than 5 people here at once. I love all the Nature Parks for hiking but I have to admit. This one is very special & very unique. I can't wait to return. Highly recommended.

There is a boardwalk and pavilions for events. The restrooms were also nice and clean. Actually better than some restaurants.

This Spring Hill park was spared due to the noble efforts of then high school student Kayla Madril,…read morean IB student who made it her mission to revitalize this park so it could reopen. (It was closed in 2011.) Amity Trails Park is 8.5 acres of tree-covered open space that is surrounded by private homes & paved roads. It holds approximately five wooden, covered picnic tables (no grills), some wooden benches, a wooden bike rack, & some trash cans. There's a mulched walking trail, but perhaps the best feature is the large open area that makes this park great for a friendly game of football, soccer, kickball, & frisbee. Visitors can even toss a blanket on the ground for a picnic lunch. There is an area for parking; it is covered in small white rocks. As I exited my vehicle & walked into the park, I was almost immediately greeted by a large turtle who hurried into her underground home. What a lovely little park that brings nature into the heart of a busy town. If I lived closer, I would picnic here often.

So if you are from a large city, don't like nature and most comfortable with concrete, cars, city noises, etc. you will like it. I did not enjoy my experience. I walked my dog past the tiny playground that looked really old. Very short trail for bikes, short grassy trail for walkers. It looked overly manicured to me like most small yards around houses in our area. My back yard is almost as big as the only small grassy area that had a few trees, but my yard has birds, butterflies, more native plants and trees, much more enjoyable. The path was mostly sunny without shade. I walked around a lot because I wanted exercise, but ten minutes could cover the entire area even walking very slow. There are benches and a bridge that are nice but I don't plan to return. To me it was a waste of my time. I love nature and long walks so this was not for me.

I finally went to check out Robert K. Rees Memorial Park because I'd heard so many people talk…read moreabout it. I'm glad I went, but after seeing it for myself, I realized it's just not my kind of beach. The water was calm, families were happily swimming and letting their kids play, so it's clearly a place that a lot of locals enjoy. Just know that this is a natural Gulf Coast beach, so the water isn't crystal clear, and in some areas there's a soft, muddy bottom beneath the sand that you can feel as you walk. It did have its own charm in how peaceful and unhurried it felt. The boardwalk through the mangroves adds to the experience, and you might spot dolphins, manatees, stingrays, pelicans, herons, and other coastal birds. Sharks are part of the Gulf ecosystem, and although alligators are uncommon at this saltwater beach, they do occasionally wander into coastal areas from nearby freshwater habitats. Even though it wasn't the postcard-perfect beach I was looking for, I'm still glad I took the time to see it for myself.
