Dr. Urbina is really great. She was patient and friendly and explained everything in great detail, and more importantly, in a way that I could understand as a patient. I've gone in for a few cleanings and had some fillings done, and each time, the work has been done quickly, pain-free, and with great quality. What I enjoy most is the laid back feel of the clinic. They understand that visiting the dentist can be a little scary, so they do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Ronnie and Amanda are incredibly cool and down-to-earth. Dr. Urbina is the same way, and she truly cares about her patient's well-being. I've been to a few dentists who try to push expensive and, at times, unnecessary treatment or nickel and dime you for every little thing. That's definitely not the case here. They clearly explain options and treatment, accept all types of insurance (including Medicaid), and will work to make sure you get what you need at a reasonable price. In December, I had a consultation for Invisalign and was quoted approximately $5,000 (paid in full, no insurance involved). During that consultation, I specifically asked whether whitening treatment could be included in the cost. After checking with the office, the dentist confirmed that it could. Near the end of my treatment, I asked about the whitening treatment and was given take-home whitening gel. This was not what I understood to be included, so I later texted the dentist to clarify. He acknowledged the misunderstanding and agreed to provide an in-office treatment at a future appointment. At the next appointment, I received what the office described as a short "maintenance" whitening treatment. When I explained again that I had expected a full in-office whitening treatment, I was told that the treatment I was referring to normally costs around $700 and could only be offered to me at half price. My frustration is not about the cost of whitening itself -- it's that I specifically asked whether whitening treatment (not a maintenance one) could be included before agreeing to move forward with Invisalign, and I was told yes. I raised the issue multiple times and do not feel it was ever meaningfully resolved. What was especially frustrating is that even the reduced "maintenance" whitening treatment the office claimed they originally intended to provide was never consistently followed through on. At my final retainer appointment, there was no mention of whitening at all despite the prior discussions and assurances. The Invisalign results themselves turned out well, but I was disappointed by how this situation was handled and by the lack of accountability regarding what had originally been agreed upon. Every 6 months I get a checkup that is always smooth. They always accommodate my light sensitivity by turning off the overhead lighting and handing me blackout sunglasses. They are so nice and I almost never leave with a migraine, which is truly a miracle. But today was a different sort of day. I woke up with tooth pain. I was really nervous about it. I called. Sarah at the front desk, who is always amazing, got me in today. Then I met Juliet, one of the hygienists. I told her kind of my sob story about how I think I'm grinding at night and I'm so worried I'm going to have a cracked tooth because Dr. Glennon has asked me to be careful with that one. She is so reassuring. So kind. She and I talk for 30 minutes about possible solutions, including the one I've been scared to death to try, a night guard. But she puts me at ease. She is both super smart and super empathetic. She scans my mouth. Dr. Glennon comes in and does some tests. He takes time to examine the tooth and the area around it. It's either phantom pain from my anxiety or possibly real pain. He listens to me. He tells me what I'm feeling is real. I'm not sure, but I appreciate he isn't dismissive. They have my back on whichever decision I want to make to protect my tooth. I leave almost about to cry because of how kind they are.

The first time I ended up at McGuire, it was a total fluke because they were the only ones who could get me in; the second time I ended up there was on purpose. I'm a very anxious person when it comes to REGULAR dental appointments, so when you're talking about the dreaded root canal, forget about it! And yet, I'm here rating the root canal dealer 5 stars, and that's because this team is that good. Everyone from the front desk to the care team to Dr. McGuire himself is so warm and comforting that it feels more like visiting friends than a doctor's office. They keep a gorgeous space with extra little things like noise cancelling headphones and a nice warm blanket so that you're as comfortably as you can possibly be while receiving care. I'm about 32 hours out from my root canal and I feel so much better, it's shocking. I'm grateful to this office and will continue to use them as things come up.
