Complaint Description: Home Care Assistance was hired to…read morecare for me while my wife traveled for work. The care taker lined my self cleaning oven with foil which has ruined my oven. The company owner, Nick Paciello, bragged about the training provided to his team members and about how his team is good at cooking. The Care Giver was not educated on how to utilize self-cleaning oven. She lined the oven with foil which melted into the oven and is now impossible to remove. Nick refuses to acknowledge that his team member was negligent and he blames me for not educating his team member on how to use the oven. Please note that I was bed ridden and unable to walk on my own. I did not know she was lining the oven with foil. It is not my responsibility to teach Home Care Assistance's team member how to use an oven. Nick refuses to take ownership. I would NOT do business with this company.

The size of the community is good for my mom. It's smaller, and we knew it wouldn't be overwhelming for mom to learn her way around. It's also one of the cleanest, and it never smells bad. The residents are happy and friendly and keep busy throughout the week. The activities director is a ball of energy, and a bit goofy, but the residents all love her. I read another review about bed bugs, which prompted me to write this review actually, because it was unfair and not accurate. They did have a resident that was a hoarder, and had bed bugs in the room in mid 2016. Mom's been there for 3 years, so I know all of the details, unlike the other guy. When the problem was discovered Prestige notified all of the residents and families that there was a room found with bed bugs. And that they were going to be proactive and treat the entire place, including every single room. They also were going to continue to treat common areas for a couple of months until they were confident the problem was gone. They don't hide the issue from anyone, because I've personally seen the maintenance director checking new residents furniture when people move in to ensure no one is bringing the problem back in to the building again. I asked what was going on and I was told "oh, we let new move-ins know that we are going to check all furniture now before it comes in the building to make sure there are no bed bugs. We don't want to have that problem again." As someone who travels around the valley I can tell you that most places have had bed bugs, and it is the unspoken plague a lot are dealing with. The care here is great. The staff are kind, and attentive and go out of their way to try and meet the needs of all the residents. I see this every time I visit. There have been changes with management in different areas, but the running of things has always remained consistent for the most part. All of the managers are friendly and willing to help with whatever I may need at the moment. We have never regretted moving Mom in here for a moment.

Caring for a loved one in your home is an all hands on deck sort of situation (depending on the needs of your loved one). In our case it was anyways, and there were some aspects of caregiving that were beyond our capabilities. We met with a representative and discussed needs and expectations, what they could and could not do and they matched us with a couple caregivers who were absolute angels on earth. The time they spent in our home was MORE than appreciated and worth EVERY PENNY. Our loved one looked forward to her visits with Michelle or Mickie each week, and the companionship and expertise that they showed her (and us) was undlessly appreciated. I can not thank them enough, and can't tell you, if you are starting your journey caring for a loved one, get help. It does take a village and comfort keepers can be part of that village.
