Hello to all that read my post. I will start by saying i apologize if im long winded. But im a…read moreperson that gives credit where its due. I will also state that if you read all the posts you will see i posted about 3 yrs ago. With that being said here you go. My dealings with Jim started 3 yrs ago. This came after going to chiropractor for over a yr along with my own stretching. I also used the inversion table. The pain and discomfort wouldnt go away. Ive had lower back surgery for spine issues and this pain was differant. So I also used accupunture in past with great results. So I went to 1 near me. After my 2nd visit I knew she was not the 1 for me. Trust me when I say ALL accupunturists are not created equal.. Just like western medicine. Some are specialists for a reason. Sorry to say its called skillsets. So now im on the search and i came upon Jim. Im not going to lie, the first to treatments were tough. Jim went right to work ... I will admit i was like wow and a lil nervous. But by the 6th treatment i felt amazing. The pain was gone. I could sleep and I could hug my other half without pain going down my leg. Here it is 3 yrs later and alls well with my leg. So at this point im like hmmmm. I may have found THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH....LOL...So since i was your typical male growing up , I had the mentality of you cant hurt me...well im here to tell you I was wrong. There are days that i ache like i got hit by a car in my upper body.. So Doc ( Jim ) and i chatted and he started on my shoulders. He got me to feeling awesome . Best i felt in yrs and im in my 60s...So i had all intentions on getting back to exercise to maintain my body. Thats the key to a healthy life...well like most americans i didnt start my exercise so i was feeling achy and having issues moving my arms... so i called Jim and said I need your help and we really examined my issues. During that Jim found a muscle group that was weaker then it should be , hence making other muscles do overtime.. So between his work and his exercises im back to feeling good. So all I can say is give this man a try. And give him a chance to figure out whats causing your issues. I can say is it took us years to beat ourselves to this point. Give him some time to figure out what you need. So trust me folks, Jim will get you back to a productive life fast... Thanks Jim for helping me continue my journey to 100...lol

Within two treatment sessions, the issue was resolved to my shock and delight. I felt safe that Jim and I both wore N95s. Would come again if needed for initial or other issues.

She…read moreimmediately gathered all my test results, medical history and health background and compiled an extensive report summarizing the results of all the tests I have had throughout the years. She saw the urgency in my case and agreed to see me right away at a temporary location while her new office was under construction. With her knowledge and experience in dealing with fertility issues, Dr. Dishman helped me to begin my journey to wellness. I am currently 12 weeks pregnant (further than I've ever been before) and I attribute my health & the health of the baby to the treatments I have received from Dr. Dishman. She is always very thorough, pays attention to every detail & provides helpful, encouraging advice always at the perfect moment. She obviously cares deeply for her patients & has gone above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions. I feel so fortunate to have found her & to receive such compassionate care.

Every time I brought up an issue I was having, the answer was always to add another supplement to my already huge arsenal. I actually think the amount of supplements I was taking was actually taxing my body and my digestive system further. I also didn't like that the first time I emailed her, I got a message back saying she might charge me to respond to that email and any future emails. I understand her time is limited, but possibly getting charged for emailing a question was a deterrent for me in asking questions and seems a bit unethical. My biggest complaint, however, was her demeanor. I found her attitude to be rude, condescending, and arrogant. Eye-rolling during an in person appointment once. The worst was the time I was having a phone consult with her and she went over this long list of treatments she wanted me to start, and at the end, I asked, just to make sure, if all of them were ok for me to take while breastfeeding. Apparently, she either forgot (even though we discussed it at my initial intake) or neglected to check her notes before writing her recommendations. She reacted by getting flustered first, then actually said to me, "Well I guess you could have stopped breastfeeding by now" as if that was an excuse! And it's not like she even asked if I was still nursing! If I hadn't asked, I might have paid for and started taking things unsafe for my baby. I was horrified. If I hadn't been so desperate for help, I would have definitely stopped seeing her right after that. Another time, she refused to give me lab results until I scheduled an appointment with her. She also asked me once to get lab tests that I had already paid for and done, and we had even emailed about it. Again, just not checking her notes in advance. I dreaded my appointments with her, she gave me anxiety to be around because of her aggressive nature, and I got the feeling she was mostly concerned with making money and not taking care of her patients. I never got the impression she really cared. No bedside manner whatsoever. She has since moved out of Raleigh to join another practice and the only communication about the move was via several long, convoluted, poorly written emails. I was surprised at the level and style of communication from someone who has so many advanced degrees. She never mentioned the move to me in person. I just thought it was odd. It came across like she couldn't wait to get out of NC. I'm so glad I made the decision to stop seeing her and wasting my time and money. I have had much better, long-lasting, less expensive success with acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

I came to Ben with gestational diabetes and Sciatica. I've been testing my blood glucose levels every day now. My husband who was diagnosed Pre-diabetes later joined me for treatment with Dr Ben. Since then, I have taken my Hb-A1c test. Blood has a glucose memory of about 2 to 3 months. And the test shows the aggregate score of glucose. The results were fantastic, showing that I had a normal (on the lower side) reading of 4.9. My husband has also been on the same diet prescribed by Dr Ben. He started out with readings of over 360 for certain meals and now, his fasting readings have come as low as 140 to 150 in a short span of a few weeks. The key was that what looked like diabetes was really inflamation. This is only a part of what really goes on during each consultation. There is a deep dive into your health history, some part is related to geneology and for me, Dr Ben looked into X-rays of my spine to understand the Sciatica better. I've lived in Asia for a large part of my life and have not had someone who was able to blend eastern and western medicine as well as Dr Ben. I highly recommend him if you have any ailment. He is extremely honest and will let you know if there is a better way of treating your ailment.

I was surprised to begin seeing a change in sleep patterns after two treatments! It was easier to go to sleep and the sleep was much deeper; I realized I was starving for deep, healing sleep. We are continuing to treat the insomnia, with quite favorable results. I sometimes am able to sleep for 9 uninterrupted hours. I am so encouraged by my progress with Jinmei that I hope to soon have her begin treating my hypothyroidism. I definitely would recommend her for help to anyone. Gail R

I do believe that acupuncture can be a very powerful practice when performed well. Unfortunately…read moreafter about 10 visits with Jinmei Xu, I have some serious doubts about the efficacy of her "treatments" and disagree with some dishonorable billing practices. Overall the results of Jinmei's acupuncture treatments were mixed, making it difficult to conclude whether the treatments were helpful or harmful. Jinmei was quick to attribute any positive progress to acupuncture and discount any negative side effects as unrelated to acupuncture. For example, when a wound healed over the course of weeks, she said it was acupuncture. Conversely, she once put a needle in my right elbow and, for the next 2 weeks, I experienced a sharp, intense pain that felt like it was radiating out along the vein in my elbow. When asked about it, she didn't look at it or attempt to treat it; instead, she dismissed it as not being related to acupuncture and that I must have unknowingly bumped it in that exact spot. On two occasions, she treated me for sleep and both times I experienced noticeably worse sleep following the session than I did the night prior. She also attributed bleeding from the needles to successful activation of chi - the more bleeding, the stronger the activation. My husband went through the trouble to get Jinmei approved as an in-network provider with our insurance company, and I wanted to try to submit a claim through my insurance for these acupuncture treatments. Jinmei said, that if I wanted to do that, they needed to charge me double for visits ($150, instead of the regular $80 per visit). When I asked why, she said it was because it would require her to send me an invoice via email that contained the insurance code. So essentially I needed to pay her $70 extra per visit to get an invoice, and then I would need to do all of the work to coordinate with insurance to try to get reimbursed. Ultimately, the decision was clear to discontinue treatments at Raleigh Acupuncture Associates -- for us, it wasn't worth the time and cost of continuing acupuncture treatments, particularly when the results were, at best, mixed.
