The bartender with the man bun is the rudest person we have ever met. We talked to multiple people inside and outside the bar and have come to the conclusion he is the worst. Every single person has had a terrible experience with him. He disrespected my friends and I, disrespected other patrons, and disrespected every paying customer we spoke to. Bartender (Joe) super rude and was ignored for the most part. Then at the end of the night the bill was racked up and drinks put on my tab that I didn't order. Super Smokey place. When asked about the bill got an attitude and was told to pay and leave. Do not go here. Way better bars on bridgestreet. Real shit hole, they're just looking to scam people. SERVICE HERE IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AND DISRESPECTFUL! If you are a tourist consider yourself an afterthought at this bar. If you're not part of the "normal" crowd respect goes out the window. My fiancé and I were hoping to have a nice time at a local bar only to be denied service despite scanning our VALID IDs and us both being 23 years of age. If you don't meet the owner's "standards" and fit in his box, then you won't be welcomed here. I am turning 23 and my ID is based off my parent's new address. The bartender (and supposedly owner) SCANNED my VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE and proceeded to ask about my zip code, which I immediately gave from my previous house, but does not match up with my new ID. When I tried to explain the situation to him, he refused to listen, even saying, OR ADMITTING, that I am 22 but would not serve me. He continued to say that I need to leave, even though I walked in the bar 15 minutes prior with no issue. Had he been willing to listen, this situation would be very different. We could have called the cops but decided not to escalate the situation further. I am not one to leave negative reviews but people need to be aware that this place not friendly. AMI might be the best kept secret in all of FL. Having spent 11 days there over Xmas/NY, we were so happy with every aspect of this little gem. Although it would be difficult to rank our favorites when it comes down to restaurants, beaches, activities, etc., hands down the Anchor Inn was the highlight of our trip. I could rave to you about the ice cold drinks, festive music, pinball and pool tables... But none of those elements even remotely compared to the awesome locals and fabulous bartenders that we quickly became friends with. But this post is regarding the Anchor Inn, so praising the bartenders is my top priority. Brad, single-handedly the most insightful and thought-provoking bartender that I've ever met. And his hair is great, too. The Brothers, both equally charming and pleasant to be around. And last, but not least and never to be forgotten, the tough as nails/sweet like honey Kirsten. You are a true Diamond, little sister. The four of you will be the top reasons that we will definitely be back to AMI in the not so distant future. read more

We walked in and were immediately greeted by Brad the bartender. Super friendly. Drinks were really reasonable. We played a game of pool then played pinball. Locals were really friendly. We felt really welcome and will definitely make this a staple when we come back next year. My advice: go to Skinny's for a burger and then hit the Anchor Inn for a few drinks. read more

Wow! For a bar that's open from 7am - 3am, I would have expected more of a dive but it's a great little bar with tasty pizza and plenty of cold drinks. Super friendly staff. The owner Bobby is a great fella. Definitely will return. read more

This is a must go while on the island. My wife Chantel and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary here and couldn't have had a better time. The owner (Part Time) was entertaining us and our bartender Lisa was absolutely phenomenal. The beer was cold, the locals were awesome and the jukebox played all day! We bought t shirts for our friends back home and will definitely be back later this week! I give this 10 Stars out of 5. read more

Cool cash bar off the beaten path. Everything costs money, but if you've got some quarters, you can play pool, and I noticed darts as well. There's a digital jukebox that takes all bills and seems to have most music you could think of. Bartender was very nice and took my special requests in stride; he even squeezed the limes into my g&t and so few bartenders do that. There are ashtrays everywhere, and as an occasional smoker I enjoyed being able to smoke inside. All in all, an enjoyable bar to spend my Wednesday night! read more

Glad we stumbled upon this place our first night in. It's the only bar open on the island until 3AM. Apparently they also open at 7AM too (we never made it that early lol). It's is your true local dive bar, equipped with multiple pool tables and dart boards. They smoke inside, and they smoke a lot, so you're sure to smell like cigs when you leave. Also, they are CASH ONLY, but also have an atm inside. They serve all their bottles with a Koozie which is a nice touch, and their beer is ice cold! Bartender Kaitlyn was there on our first night and was very attentive and welcoming. Brad was there our second time and was extremely kind. He voluntarily offered written suggestions of places to eat, and offered great service. While we were there a local got too drunk and brad was very kind and gentle in assisting him. Great place with great prices, glad we found a late night spot to unwind. read more

I am a local. This is a 5 star dive bar. If that's not your looking for - don't go there. They weeded out some of the bartenders. Most of them now have worked there for several years. Not unusual to see the owners tending bar. You will just love Darla. They treat the regulars and tourist the same. Very accomodating. If your looking for food, fishing charters or a great place to watch the sunset, the locals can fill you in. Drink and smoke here. I love this place. It's just a beach bar typical of something decades ago. Not many left. Nostalgic. read more
