Apna Bazar is an ethnic grocery store specifically targeting Indian food and spices, hell spawn hot…read moresauces, Indian curry seasonings and all food staples including Basmati rice of Indian cultural cuisine of a large selection. It is clean and wide aisles when browsing. I came here specifically for fresh fruits and tomatoes due to the very reasonable price and quantity without economic shrinkflation or compromise. Inflation and agflation 2023 era shrinkage greatly affects my household as working families. This grocery store does offers limited pots, pans and cooking utensils but do NOT expect to be high quality pots for avid cooks/ chefs as Williams Sonoma, Sur La Table, or Calphalon standard quality. There are also mainstream American frozen foods, juice, soda of standard American brand names available. Customer service is, indeed, nonexistent and albeit dismissive, curt, mired in disgruntled melancholy behavioral appearance exhibited and transparent to customers. Return policy is absolutely deplorable egregiously inferior and excessively poor standards of a traditional brick and mortar business. I agree with previous Yelpers with the excessively poor female cashiers' customer service and stolid dismissive behaviors. They do, indeed, exhibit rude scowl belligerent looks to customers as serial thieves. Personally, I like to explore, wanderer freely and openly, plus read products throughout the entire store aisles to see if any item possibly attracts my attention for potential purchase(s). This business is located in South Richmond Hill, Queens serving Little Guyana and is very accessible by MTA subway A train Lefferts Boulevard, buses Q8 and Q112.

Really a turn off and makes me want to support other business instead of this one. My message to the owners, train your staff to be more hospitable, to the community. Don't open a business that depends on the desis and treat them as though you are better than them.

Tashkent is an excellent place to do food shopping. The produce is consistently fresh,…read morehigh-quality, but still cheaper than the nearby supermarket chains. I won't get my onions, bell peppers, or cucumbers anywhere else, and their satsuma mandarins are also a great find. The meat selection is excellent as well and very fresh. The hot food bar is always worth a stop. Their plov (beef or lamb) is a great deal at $9.99/lb, and the meat is unbelievably tender and flavorful. It often runs out later in the day. The samsa are massive, flaky, and come stuffed with pumpkin, beef, lamb, or chicken. The manti and bilyash are also fantastic. You really can't go wrong with any of the prepared foods. They also carry a wide variety of Central Asian and Eastern European groceries, including seasonings, teas, sweets, pickled vegetables, honey, and more. The bread selection is another highlight, with fresh Uzbek non or lepeshka. The space itself is pretty small and cramped, so it feels more like a quick "grab what you need and go" kind of store rather than a place to casually browse. A line of only a few people can stretch to the back, but the cashiers do a great job keeping things moving. Tashkent also recently opened a location in Manhattan that I checked out, and it's a larger space with even more selection.

This Caribbean-centric market is compact but well-stocked and neatly organized, although if an item eludes you, ask as it may be just a few steps away. The store shares two adjacent storefronts. Great source for produce at good prices. Besides readily available items, there are many common island ingredients: okra, peppers (Scotch bonnets, sweet, pimento), dasheen bush, callaloo leaf, and thyme. Groceries include many varieties of grains, salted fish (dry and wet in bag), sauces and seasonings, spices, snacks, and canned and jarred goods, and among them, plentiful Caribbean imports. Pig's tail and salted beef too! The fruits and vegetables are great to buy. Besides produce, I've also purchased canned ackee, dried sorrel petals, Crix crackers (multiple types), Golden Ray margarine, salted fish, salted beef, browning sauce, curry powder, and a myriad of other spices and seasonings. A great grocer for Caribbean cooking basics. Service is efficient and friendly. Conveniently located in the commercial area just outside the Sutphin E line station.
