A Disappointing Experience…read more I don't usually leave negative reviews ( see my other reviews) but after spending $395 here -- and being treated the way I was -- I feel compelled to share my experience. For context, I have been living in the Berkshires all summer taking care of my 85-year-old father and my stepmother who has advanced dementia. The last time I did anything to my hair was over a year ago because one of my closest friends did my hair for over 20 years. & she recently passed away from a brain tumor. Booking an appointment was a very emotional ordeal. I went in with dark brown hair and I wanted golden blonde highlighted hair. I also asked for a trim, saying I wanted to keep as much length as possible. Instead, I left with hair that was still brown, with just a few subtle highlights. The stylist was a very sweet, young woman, but the end result was nothing like the inspiration photo I provided -- even after a consultation beforehand a week before the appointment. The stylist I saw consulted with another stylist there, and they were both kind and professional, and I don't blame them which is why I am omitting their names. I would even see them again if they worked somewhere else because the quality of their work was good. It just wasn't what I was going for. I thought maybe I hadn't made that clear even though I brought a photo of the color I wanted. I am the kind of person who will eat the wrong meal at a restaurant rather than complain. I reached out after the appointment to express that I wasn't happy with the results and would like to see if I could come back in. I was told via text to "come in Thursday and we'll fix it." But when I replied with my availability, I got no response. I followed up the next day and received a call from the owner, Caroline. Rather than offering a solution, she defended the work for 10-15 minutes and told me things like "look at the color outside," "we just don't know how the hair is going to lift until we get in there," and lastly, "the stylists you worked with are very pleased with the results." When I calmly expressed that I wasn't happy with the results and said that I felt unheard -- I believe I said I am now feeling a little "gaslit" -- the owner Caroline started yelling at me: "I AM NOT! THAT IS NOT WHAT IS HAPPENING! I FIND THAT VERY TRIGGERING!" I ended the call -- stunned and upset. This was meant to be a moment of long-overdue self-care during a very difficult year. Instead, I left feeling dismissed and disrespected. If you're looking for beauty and healing, proceed with caution -- especially if you're not 100% satisfied with the results.

I explained that Theodore was extremely rude to me on my second visit to the salon and that they should think twice before hiring him for such a high stress situation. He had the moderator remove my post because he claimed I'd never been there. I've been there. Never again. Not only is this person rude, but unapologetically so.

She was rude, dismissive, and condescending. When I asked for texturing (my hair is long and very thick so it just hangs if it's not lightened up a bit) as opposed to long, visible layers, she told me it's either layered or not layered. Not discussion. No trying to understand what I was saying (which I've said to every other hair stylist I've ever had, and no one has ever had an issue understanding...). She was too busy being catty with Ted and talking negatively about clients - the whole time looking at herself in the mirror while she talked to him. After I got home and washed my hair (she blow dried it, so it was hard to tell at the salon), there was NO evidence of the $55 haircut I had just gotten. I ended up going to Super Cuts in Hudson and had a GREAT haircut. I'm new the area, and I trusted the name David Gavin because I used to go to one of their other locations...I will now continue to go to Super Cuts. Better haircut, better attitudes, better pricing. Both times I went to David Gavin, I was the only one there. Other times when I've walked by, it's been empty...I guess I now know why.

The highlight was the worst I've ever had, and I've been highlighting my hair for 30 years. it was a foil highlight concentrating on my crown, where the roots were more obvious. First off, the owner didn't do any foils towards the top back of my crown. She also started the bleach at least 3/4 of an inch from the root, making it appear I already had regrowth. I asked her about the crown lacking foils and she gave no valid explanation. For obvious reasons, I never returned and would never recommend her salon.

During the appointment she kept telling me I should do this with my hair, and that with my hair because it's healthier. I said yes, thinking that I would get my desired effect! I got the total opposite! Plus, I had beautiful long hair and I asked for 3 inches off but it's more like 5 to 6. I absolutely hate my hair!! I'm going to have to buy a box of black hair dye just to cover it up and I wanted blonde hair not black. I even told her this and she didn't care.
