Stock ranges from whatever they can get, to whatever the other stores can't sell, to whatever excess stock is available. The best thing about Williams is that they cater for big feet. Big lady feet, that is. After unsuccessfully shopping at a major shopping centre for a whole day trying to buy size 10-11 shoes, I found Williams and found two pairs of shoes. Well I was only going to buy one but when I got to the register I asked if I was aware there was a 'get a second pair half price' sale? No, I had been so focused on sizes I had not noticed the 100 signs around the shop advertising the sale. After the first pair I was hooked and wandered around looking for more big sizes. So I got a pair of black strappy sandals and a pair of red party shoes for $100. Bargain.

They are more helpful in finding you the right item than to make a sale and get you out of the shop. There always seems to be a sale here. I have noticed that the same store in other locations will have the same jumper (sweater) but will not have the same discounted price. I went to one shop elsewhere where they advertised some clothing as new arrivals...but this store said it was last seasons stock. They have a fast turn over and are ready to get last seasons stock out the front with at least 40% off. Great place to visit if you are travelling overseas where it is cold at the moment.

The exception to this is Bra Boutique, a charming split-level establishment located on Concord's busy Majors Bay Rd (opposite Coles). Bra Boutique's name is somewhat deceiving. While there is an impressive range of bras and underwear available in store, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The swimwear section (downstairs) is what keeps me coming back every summer. Whoever picks the merchandise has impeccable taste. Whatever your size or shape, you will be able to find the perfect swimming costume at Bra Boutique. The healthy variety of bikinis, one-pieces and beach attire is impressive. Brands include Seafolly, 2 Chillies and Tigerlily. Cute, decedent knick-knacks and giftware are available at the front of the shop, and are perfect if you need a gift for your girlfriend, sister or mother. The great thing about Bra Boutique is that the shop is almost always empty, so you can take your time and peruse at your leisure. Service is often nonexistent, but this doesn't bother me too much. It's fun to rummage through an empty shop without an overenthusiastic teenager watching over your shoulder, asking for the tenth time if you need help with anything.

Filled with gorgeous pieces of jewellery, hand bags and other accessories, Tilkah was the kind of store I could easily find myself in all the time. Unfortunately, a combination of my terrible memory and leaving Melbourne meant I forgot what the name of the store. I only recently discovered that they had a Tilkah store here in Sydney, and I recognised the name and from the style of the pieces they had available. They deal with soft leather, vintage style bags and a whole allotment of different jewellery. But warning, you pay a pretty penny for these pieces! Their shop in the Pitt street Westfield is set up exactly as it was in Melbourne. All their jewellery pieces are glittery in the bright lights of the store. I have my eye on one of their sling bags, made of their really soft leather. I just have to wait until the next time I'm allowed to treat myself.

Okay, the help desk was sort of helpful, but then again despite their directions I still ended up spending ages actually trying to find something that I simply wasn't going to find anytime soon. The place is confusing, and while one might be able to get some cheap goods here, they fact that you can really only get here by car means that its accessibility isn't all that great either. Well, there is a bus stop nearby, but getting inside is still a challenge.

They're pretty little numbers, especially seeing as we're in spring racing season. Some of the patterns are a little OTT and turquoise for my taste, but if you rifle through the racks, you can find quite the array of fashionable cuteness. Best yet, the dresses and suits seem to be designed for actual women - you know, women with hips and boobs. That's always appreciated. My first, shocked, visit, I ended up buying a sweet little top that is very well made and has worn extremely well. So while I don't think it'll be a regular shopping spot for me (especially considering I avoid clothes shopping!), I know enough now to a) not be shocked by the sight of dresses rather than shoes and b) go in and have a browse for a well fitting frock.
