Both institutions will deny fault and blame the other to avoid accountability. This is a choice, not due to law. Mastercard does not do this. Other banks and credit unions don't all do this. Last week I contacted ICCU to see if I can suspend my truck loan and required insurance until my…read moretruck is released. It does not make sense to make payments or have insurance for a truck that has been impounded? Carly stated that the bank can only suspend 2 months of my required truck payments. Dakota stated that they can only allow me to carry comprehensive insurance but suspend my collision insurance. Neither employee was willing to escalate my request and really didn't care if I took my business elsewhere. (win the battle but lose the war mentality) My name is Matthew Gatlin, and I am reaching out in hopes that you may be able to assist me with a situation that has had a severe impact on my life. On Sunday, January 25, 2026, I loaned my 2023 Toyota Tundra to an individual named Jacob Street. While he had possession of my vehicle, he became involved in a road rage incident that tragically resulted in the shooting death of another individual. As a result, my truck was impounded by the Meridian Police Department as part of the investigation. I want to make it clear that I had no involvement in this incident beyond loaning my vehicle. Since then, I have been trying to recover my truck. From what I understand, all agencies involved have approved the release of my vehicle except for the Public Defender's Office, specifically Monica Grey and Scott Rowley. I have made multiple attempts to contact their office by both phone and email, but I have not received any response. This situation has created a serious hardship for me. I am a 100% disabled veteran currently battling prostate cancer, and my truck is essential for my daily life and my livelihood. Because I no longer have access to my vehicle, I have been forced to shut down my business, leaving me without income. (Two other banks quoted us 60 days MINIMUM to process our refinance.) Benchmark quoted us a 30 day or less timeframe and they kept that promise.
