Kinda…read more Modesto bus station is actually the Southern Pacific Railroad Depot, which has Modesto Amtrak and also Greyhound stopping here. It looks lovely and Spanish like many of the Cali stations do, and it's gorgeous just like a lot of the stations in California. New and shiny and all that good stuff. Its official name is the Downtown Transportation Center which is really not just a bus terminal but used to be the train station. It might start getting trains coming through here with the Altamont Corridor Express in about 2023. It's been used since 1993 exclusively for buses. And it has been open here since 1915, and this is one of many Mission Revival stations which is made to look like a Mission - and it's pretty gorgeous.

Upon walking up to the window, I noticed she was either texting or using social media and completely ignored guests. Once a question was asked, she was passive aggressive and was exhibiting a negative behavior overall. Once the person I dropped off took the train, the ticket/ information booth was closed as she was driving the cart around to look at a building at the station. Did not catch her name but she has brunette hair, blue eyes, wore silver rings and was about 50-60. Would I recommend this station if you avoid the ticket/information booth? Yes. If you need assistance or are older and need help with luggage, avoid this station and utilize another.

I noticed not that many times to choose from going to Davis from Sacramento. We missed the 2 pm. We had to wait almost an hour and half until the next one. We bought our tickets then realized no one told us where we actually get onto the train. Our friend went back in..at the ticket booth the man that helped us was very nice and very helpful. He gave the kids coloring books and pins. Finally on the train it was bumper then I remembered, moved around a lot reminded me being on boat. Can not have bags or luggage out on tables or seats. I think we got called out, but we weren't sure since it was over the load speaker. We had a small bag it had food and snacks in it. We put into the over head. We went to check out the food car. So the kids could feel what it was like to walk from car to car..the food car was mostly over priced snacks. Canned, bottled drinks and packs of chips or nuts. When we arrived in Davis. They said over the loud speaker they do not stop for to long you need to get off so get ready. We couldn't open the over head to get our bag back out. It was stuck. Other passengers helped us open it, they said you really need to pull it hard. Once off the train the Davis train station and building looked so old and run down..so sad looking compared to Sacramento station. We didn't know no one would be there to buy return tickets. But they do offer more times leaving back to Sacramento. We purchased online. We had many people asking if they were in the right place while we were waiting. Davis such a cute town seems like they would clean up the station areas.

When checking in, the ladies at the counter were chatting it up while there was a line of people. Once on the train (booked lower level seats for my elderly mother and I), come to find out there were no seats available in the lower level although we paid for that seating. The people that assist on the train couldn't do enough for you, really amazing people. They checked everyone's ticket on lower level and appeared everyone had lower level seating. I called Amtrak to make a complaint and was sent to customer relations. I spoke to Kara; she stated she checked the schedule and there was absolutely no way that could've been oversold because there were open seats. I told her they had everyone on specific train cars based on the area they were going to, and was told there were no other seats on other cars as it was a holiday weekend and full. I asked her if there was any way to be compensated and she said no there was nothing she could do but send a message to corporate; no idea if she'll really do it. ‍ There was another gentleman behind me with a son that had congestive heart failure, who also purchased lower level seats, and they also had to go up to the upper level, it was a seating DISASTER!!! The icing on the cake was there are no restrooms on the upper level of the train. So when my elderly mother had to use the restroom, she had to go up and down the stairs in that tight stairwell while the train was in motion; completely unsafe and dangerous for an 89yr-old lady. So save yourself the time as it's five hours by train from Sacramento to Reno; just drive, not worth taking Amtrak. It was a terrible experience for my elderly mother and myself!!

Amtrak Trains: 2025 Jul 7 (4 of 5)…read more I love train rides! Somehow, trains feel comforting to me. Train rides are usually smooth, with variations of vibrations and some swaying. Train-rides offer the ability to stretch my legs. A ride on Amtrak can be an adventure because you don't know whether they will arrive on time. Because of that, strangers become friends or in the least new acquaintances. You sigh - and chat - and wonder when the train will arrive. Yes! Amtrak is usually late, but once inside, you'll appreciate why you decide to take the train. The seats are comfortable and clean. There is a lounge but sometimes they offer complimentary snacks and water. These trains also have a toilet for your convenience. Other than Amtrak being usually late, the cleanliness and smooth ride makes this a high 4.

12/20/25- The A bus isn't on schedule. It seems to be running 15 min late on the Transit Station…read moretowards West Valley Mall route. There also seems to be running on only 1 bus on this A route. I was at the Clover Rd/In& Out bus stop and according to their published schedule, there should have been a 1 pm bus going towards the Mall. I've been sitting here since 12:50pm and the only bus that stopped here was at 1:15pm. It was the same bus driver that dropped me off here from the Transit Center heading back to the Transit Center. The 1pm bus heading towards the Mall never showed up. The next bus is listed to arrive at 1:50pm l, an hour after I first started waiting.

I mean, the ride itself was less than $10 so I can't really complain too much because that would be more than gas to pay but it just feels a little bit weird here.
