They were crawling all over the ceiling, walls, beds. It was after hours so we couldn't call the front office. It was like a horror movie in there, we quickly packed up our things and left to stay at a hotel. That night I sent an email to the email address provided on the brochure. The email bounced back to me that the server did not exist. The next day I responded to the reservation, hoping that would get me somewhere. Nothing. Finally called and reached a lady at the front desk who told me that CHARLIE would be back the following week. I finally reached Charlie. He refunded me the money, which is great. But he was a complete asshole about it. No apology for the condition of his property. Just rudely tells me how the manager's number was plastered on the side of the bath house and I should have known to call that number. When there's a huge rain and lightening storm and the place is CRAWLING with spiders, running out to look at the bath house is the last thing I'm trying to do. I apologized for not reaching him sooner. He was still an ass about it. But how about this, make an email address that works or take it off the brochure. Fog the cabins for bugs. Take care of your property. Apologize for your negligence instead of shifting the blame to someone else. I waited to post this review because I wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves. But being an asshole isn't it.

My husband called in the morning and made a reservation for a site, he was told that there was one…read moresite available. husband gave all our information including his credit card information. We thought we were good to go. We drive the 302 miles to the campground and when my husband gets there, the person who was checking him in says we don't have your reservation and we have no more sites. What? The employee remembers talking with my husband, but didn't complete the reservation in their computer. WTH? Hubby is ready to blow a gasket, informs the guy that he has a wife who loves to review places on line. And the guy tells my husband to not be belligerent and he'll figure out something. Wait, you just said there are no sites available. Now, magically, there is a site? True, when my hubby didn't receive a confirmation email or text, he should have taken a minute to call the campground again. Yes, that's on him. But we have been traveling from Michigan to Arizona and now halfway home and haven't had a problem until now. My personal opinion is that the employee took one look at my hippy looking husband and decided he didn't want us camping there. It wasn't because our camper is old, there were older ones (see pictures), it was just my husband. Here's the campground review: this is an RV park, built for big rigs. Each site has a covered patio area, a picnic table and full hook ups. There is adequate space between the sites, room for the largest rigs and tow vehicles. There is one washroom, with laundry and shower (kind of weird with curtains and no area to lay a bag or clothes) facilities and a storm cellar. The roads are wide allowing for turns without running over the grass. This campground would be rated a high 4 or a 5 if not for the employee at the beginning of this story.

We originally stopped there for just gas, but once inside, we then realized it had so much more. Cool knick knacks to shop for and a variety of food options. Clean rest rooms as well. We also stayed at the farmhouse for the weekend of the wedding and it had all the amenities we could want and need. We would definitely recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding or just a family get together. The land and surrounding area is beautiful and well maintained and the barns are elegantly decorated and well set up. Shelley and her staff helped set up and take down before and after the wedding and were readily available for any questions or anything we needed. Give them a call and take a tour! We LOVED the food served for dinner and breakfast, and the pool was WONDERFUL, as was the hot tub. Tricia is just an amazing and wonderful woman and was so happy to help us in every way, in fact, everyone was incredibly welcoming and kind. When they hand you your keys, they say "Welcome Home", and they mean it! Very kind and open-minded people and I would highly recommend this bed & breakfast for anyone staying in Northeast Kansas! Oh and if you stay there, be sure to get the one-hour long massage for only $45 - their massage therapist is the BEST I've been to - in my life. Can't recommend highly enough! The only downside is that there are only privacy locks on the inside of the doors - at the time of this posting there was no way to lock the door from the outside leaving me a bit anxious about leaving my belongings in my room. However, nothing was stolen or anything, it was just different than most B&Bs or hotels.

We have had our retreat here for the last two years that I know of and when we asked the group if they wanted to do it again it was a great response from everyone.
