Amtrak from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara for anniversary week
    Miori I.

Taking the train from LA to SB has been on our list of things to do for yearrrrs! So glad we decided to jump on this adventure for our first wedding anniversary (NYE). The ride was smooth, seats were spacious with plenty of leg space, staff was friendly, and they provided snackies!!! Snack boxes were provided on both rides to and from. The morning ride from LA to SB offered coffee, pastries, and the snack box. The ride home in the afternoon (4 days later) offered a complimentary beverage (soda, water, beer, or wine) and the snack box. We were also able to bring our own food and drinks on the train. Being able to park at the station and immediately jump on the train made our trip practically seamless and so easy. We are already looking at options for our next trip.

Absolutely loved Business Class! It's quite peaceful and comfortable. You get to enjoy comp coffee water and pastry in the morning in the afternoon you get a travel box with a choice of sodas wine or beer. Although some seats foot stool didn't work it was still a smooth rides

A ten minute stop on the way from Los Angeles to Seattle on the Coast Starlight Amtrak, the Santa Barbara Amtrak Station is a quintennial Southern California location: Spanish southwest architecture, palm trees, open air. They allowed us to step off of the train for a few minutes to look around. It was a 10 minute stop, so didn't have much time to look around, but was able to snap a few pictures. Our attendant uses a bright yellow step stool to not only make it easier to step-down, but also to know which car to get back on. Fully intend to revisit this station in the future, hopefully to use it as a destination for our next visit to Santa Barbara.

Used this Amtrak station to hop on a train and head South to San Diego. It's such a cute train stop- very Santa Barbara with Spanish elements. They have quite a few places to sit and parking available to leave your car right on site, though you do have to pay. They have bathrooms available for customers to use. All of the staff I encountered were very helpful!

It was so easy getting into the Amtrak from LA, going to Santa B, then getting back on to go back. I can say this train going back had a special area where you can go see the ocean from the windows! Overall, the train is worth it, especially if you don't wanna drive. We had a good time! The tables really made it fun. We played games! The riders were all family oriented. Everyone was napping on the train and buying snacks and eating and also just sight seeing. I would take the Amtrak again. It was only about $40 for business class and $30-$20 for coach. Which you could go sit other places available. It was packed tho.

Highly recommend taking the Amtrak when you plan to visit SB for the day. Plenty of options if you're coming from LA/OC. Breeze past the traffic on the 101. Arrive right on State Street. Great place to begin your adventure. Easy access for families with children or older parents. Sojourner, enjoy!

It was my first visit to the Santa Barbara Amtrak Station and I was impressed. As you get off the train, there is an open space in between you and the train station itself. It has an elegant old town feel and you would think that you are on a Hollywood Western movie set. All that seemed missing were the cowboys. The main building of the station itself, has Spanish architectural design and an inviting feel to it. The inside is small and cozy. The ticket sellers behind the counter are friendly and the restrooms are clean. The station has easy access and you do not have to walk far to meet your ride. I had called for an Uber and it arrived without having to battle through traffic when it reached the station. I know I will be going back to Santa Barbara soon.

Went from Santa Barbara to San Diego on business class. It was comfortable but I probably wouldn't do this again. They give you a drink and a snack box (microwaved hamburgers and hot dogs are also available in the food area). Bathrooms are on the first level and are pretty decent. WiFi works half of the time. From Santa Barb to LA/Union Station the ride is backwards and then you ride forwards the rest of the way. They don't collect trash (or clean) so it's cool to just throw your trash wherever apparently. The main issue is how hot and stuffy it is on here. What makes it worse is how every new idi0t that comes on, wants to sit huddled in the middle. There's 2-3 rows in both front and back that are empty. Now we're like caged chickens coughing and sweating. These passengers are gross.

Just watched passenger number 12 see this sign and walk away.

This is for Amtrak 11 from Santa barbara. I'm sitting above the bar car and look at the homemade sign by staff. One traveler asked the conductor? When does it open up? Amtrak dude says I don't know. Passenger. Is he on a lunch break? Conductor ya I think so. Passenger. So it will be about an hour? Conductor. I think less than that. So at 720pm around the montecito area still closed. Let's take 10 people by twenty bucks each in 20 min? Do the math. Ok I'm back on. 732 pm guy came back from dinner. All good with me the attendant was great. Suggestion for Amtrak. Stager breaks with attendants i the dining car. Just looking from the cheap seats. Love Amtrak.

I love traveling from Santa Barbara specially when it's early morning, you get to see so much dolphins throughout the ride, The service is always nice and makes it not so scary traveling. Will for sure be riding through here again

To many smokers here, so posed to be smoke free. Well I guess that means free smoke. Cigarette butts everywhere. Appears no one cares.

My advise is just to cut out the middleman: just take $60 and light it on fire...that would be MORE FUN than this.

Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the more disappointing parts of the trip. The seating is tightly packed. I understand maximizing capacity, but at 6'6" it was not comfortable. We moved to the front right side where there is a sideways bench behind the driver, which offered more legroom. That felt like a smart move until we realized most of the sights being pointed out were on the left side of the trolley. It felt like about 80 percent of the tour was oriented that direction, which meant we were constantly twisting around and still missing details. If you book this tour, sit on the left side. The narration also felt disorganized. The driver mentioned he was reading the traffic flow incorrectly and ended up doing much of the route "backwards." Because of that, he would introduce a historical figure or landmark, then later circle back and partially repeat the same information when reaching his usual talking point. There was noticeable repetition and filler instead of a smooth, cohesive storyline. Midway through the tour, there is a stop at Mission Santa Barbara for about 15 minutes. While it is nice to get off and stretch your legs, 15 minutes is nowhere near enough time to meaningfully experience the mission. You can walk through the courtyard and take a few photos, but that is about it. The mission deserves more time than a quick pass through. In practice, the stop felt more like a checkbox than a real opportunity to explore. Another frustration was departure time. The 2:00 p.m. tour did not leave at 2:00. The driver waited past the scheduled time to see if additional passengers would join. When you are visiting from out of town and carefully stacking your schedule, those extra 10 to 15 minutes matter. Overall, for about $30 per person, I expected a more polished and better organized experience. We both left disappointed. If you want a meaningful introduction to Santa Barbara, you may be better off exploring key spots on your own at your own pace.
