I found the Freeport hotel here In Freeport, Maine on hotels.com while researching the area on where to stay. It was about a 15 minute drive from where I needed to be, but my friend decided to stay here and I booked this hotel too. We were on a 4 state binge to run marathons in New England and Maine was state 2. Initially though that the Ascend Collection brand of hotels was defined luxury, but as it turns out, it's not. Seems sophisticated and upscale, but not. With that said, my friend and I stayed here at the Freeport hotel (separate rooms). I opted for the king sized bed, naturally, since I usually get a good night's sleep while traveling. We arrived at the hotel around 4:45pm to get checked in. We arrived to find a hotel that's more like a motel in design, but it was more or less satisfactory for us. Just a clean and safe place to rest and sleep before heading out to 26.2 again. That's the basics of what hotels will offer. Anything else would be a treat for me. Pools and other amenities are nice and adds incentive to stay there, but that's not the reason why. Still, my stay here at the Freeport hotel was adequate. I got my 8 hours in before having to wake up at 4:30am to shuttle myself and my friend down to Portland, ME. The overall experience here at the Freeport hotel in Freeport, ME was good and typical. It was your typical hotel / motel combo that was cheap enough, but comfortable and clean enough to meet my expectations at least for one night. While I didn't partake in the complimentary breakfast, it would have been nice to have, but I was out the door at around 4:30am. The check in and out process was fast and friendly. The service here was good and friendly too. Everything was on point during my stay and didn't have high expectations anywhere. You really do get what you pay for, when it comes to hotel room stays. The hotel is basically a one story building that looks like a series of connected houses with one central walkway connecting. The hotel is not bad, but I guess I wanted to like it more. I've stayed at places that have seen better days to the moderately upscale. The Freeport hotel is decidedly on the lower end of the hotel spectrum, but definitely not at the bottom. The room was nice and basic. Main thing it was clean and the bed specs were as advertised for use. I know the bed was good enough and it was comfortable to be able to just lay there after a day in the car. If you are in the area and needing that rest, consider the Freeport hotel in Freeport, Maine for your accommodations of choice. The Freeport hotel is located in Freeport, Maine. It's physical address is 506 US Hwy 1. The hotel is attached to the Choice Hotels hotel branding as well, so you can get your loyalty points from them, if you decide to stay here too. There is a pretty big sign out in front of the hotel, so you probably won't miss it. Even if you do, you can always find an area to turn around and return. As far as parking goes, they have a generous space for everyone and anyone who decides to stay here. Free parking is always awesome! As far as public transport goes, I believe there is none. Although Amtrak has a station here, that's basically it. The closest airport would be in Portland, Maine. However you get here, best thing to do is to rent a car elsewhere and come here. Not sure how viable Uber/Lyft is, but do check the service area before committing to that service, if you choose to. Freeport, ME is decidedly rural terrain. Make your next jumping off point for Maine lobster at the Freeport hotel. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the location and service. 3.5 stars for the room rate, but 4.5 stars for the room comfort. There was a nasty red stain on the carpet in the big bedroom. There was a broken tie rack in one closet. The kitchen looks like it was last renovated in the late 1980s. The rear entrance does not lock securely, the back door has a note on it on how to lift the handle to get the bolt to lock. The kitchen had a table with only two chairs. So you and your guests will not be eating together. There were three other mismatched chairs scattered around the unit, and none of those were the right height for the kitchen table. In the living room there was a dehumidifier grinding along. There seems to be a drainage issue with the whole complex. The front window by the front door was missing a curtain. Another curtain wasn't hung properly. Neither television worked properly, as the internet connection kept glitching. There was a scarred desk in the living room. The showerhead in the one bathroom needs to be replaced. I did not find this townhouse adequate for adults. I give three stars because of the building and grounds, very pretty, and within walking distance to downtown.
